You are right, the author is problematic, most of her stories depicts abuse, suicide (or guns/shooting), age gap, borderline incest, internalize homophobia, the relationship is toxic and none of them are handled well, and what’s worse is, with gap’s success most of her stories will be adapted. Personally, I don’t plan on watching this show, just came here to see your opinion.

Even modern family the main woman she was with the older guy whose old enough to be her dad and the amount of times she’s like your so like my father etc it’s like ok! You are on the money with this. Terrible casting or terrible acting direction. This was so cringy. Just inappropriate at every turn. Had the younger character had the majority and intellect of Becky’s character in Gap The Series, this may have worked. Unfortunately that did not happen. This is a grown women with a child. Poor choice for GL. Not smashing any actor. They all can act. In my opinion it was poor execution and direction. The younger character never grew they way she needed to to make this truly work.
Really, I don't see the problem with this drama. The relationship starts when the girl is 19 (this happens in the book). Also, I'm sure there will be a time jump in the series, to avoid cancellation. People are so problematic.
