      Thanks for this video. I'm trying to decide right now if I want to do this, with a mold, or if I want to just pour a slab. Because I have dogs that make messes, and I figured leveling would be easier doing a slab because of the forms. However now I'm questioning it again lol. I could fill in all the joints between the spaces with something, right? Ugh can't decide.

      DON'T GROUT IT JUST PUT SOME CURB BRICKS ALL AROUND THE EDGES AND SPREAD SAND ALL OVER IT. THEN IF A STONE CRACKS YOU CAN REPLACE IT. I USE TO LAY COBBLESTONES AT MANSIONS

    Agree with the 80lbs=1.5 molds. instead of grout, you can use polymeric sand. quikcrete makes it in buckets for about 20 bucks. I suggest people use that rather than grout because these concrete stones tend to crack and using the sand makes replacement SUPER easy. Great job on the project man!

      Am I understanding that it takes an 80 lb bag of concrete to make 1 1/2 actual pavers? This doesn’t seem logical, please explain. I’m trying to budget my project to start ASAP. Thanks

      @@aleasharowe2551 Hi Aleasha! It takes 1 80 lb. bag to fill one whole mold and one half of a mold. It looks like there is 9 individual pavers to one whole mold! I hope that helps!

    This looks great but I noticed you didn't lay down a 2-3 inch compacted hardcore beneath the pavers. Elsewhere I'm looking online the pro's are insisting this is essential to avoid subsidence or movement of stones after frost-thaw. How is your patio holding up? I have laid my stones following your video but not fixed them in place yet. I'm tempted to take them all up and put the hardcore down, then re-lay them.

    Looks pretty good , that is the same mold I was planning on using , I saw them on amazon for $39 I think for 2 molds.. got a question for you tho.. are each individual paver piece tied together under each joint in the mold or does the joint go all the way down to the bare ground underneath. The reason I ask is I was skeptical about the smaller paver sections moving , but if they are all locked together by the concrete under each joint then they wouldn’t be as prone to move

    • @TheRandyMan
      @TheRandyMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No they are separate pieces. To hold them together you will need grout or polymeric sand.

    • @TheRandyMan
      @TheRandyMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. For me, it has been about 3 years and I have not had any issues. If the ground you are pouring on is solid I think you will be ok, if it is not or if you are going to be putting real weight on it then you may need so type of base.

    • @Ironbuket
      @Ironbuket 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRandyMan Ive just watched someone else use the same kit and they also did it on dirt. I just cant understand how this doesnt start to sink and go out of level.
      With a normal slab patio you are meant to put a compacted layer of hardcore and then a level of sand before the slabs. Why does this work? Does not compute to me :)

  • @boblee3322

      It was the premix bags.

      @@TheRandyMan what brand and kind of cement mixer did you use? Quikrete says to use the crack resistant, but I have seen others use the high strength as well. Just wondering what you used seeing as it's holding up so well for you. Great video by the way!

    Exactly what kind of cement did you use ? It looks smooth

      It was quickrete concrete, which has stone, but come out smooth after you trowel it.
