The old pump house pub in George Street isn't old. It was made to look like that in 1954. However, the plain looking pub opposite has been there for over 350 years.

Hastings is a happening town. Had a lovely dinner at the Stag pub in the Old Town last night with R & B music by a live band.
Hey there i am glad you like my Home Town! The east hill lift is usually closed lol it opens seasonally, I'm glad you got to ride the East Hill Lift! this is Victorian engineering at its finest. As for the Cafe and the castle, are both council owned, the cafe was supposed to be refurbished lol.. The council is broke, this town has been forgotten about by a lot of people. The Old Town is charming, That pub you looked at was extensively re-modelled during 1954. Previously it was a dilapidated shoe shop. So its not as old as it looks! The pier is a disappointment, After the huge fire that burned 90% of it down was terrible! Now we call it the Million Pound Plank! Glad you like this place, its people like you that keep this place alive!!👍👍👍
Hi 👋 nice to see you in East Sussex, my parents live in the road to the campsite near Hastings, glad you liked it there only downside is the phone signal. Glad you also enjoyed the old town area of Hastings and the lift, shame the other one wasn’t open to experience both. Safe travels 👋
Just a couple of bits for you, the big metal shell statue is a winkle. The queen mother, was the patriot for the winkle club and she had her own winkle. The very old tradition of ‘up your winkle’ was something that all old towners did many many years ago. If you see someone in old town you display your winkle and say “up your winkle” if you failed to display, you paid a fine. The building on the seafront in the crescent, is really interesting, look up Pelham crescent. The pier burnt down. The council had big plans for the new improved pier, but they brought in a crane and thousands of pounds a week, but we had high winds and we couldn’t use it. We didn’t use it for many months but we still had the bill. So we ran out of money and ended up with a plank of wood that they call a pier. Idiot council. The east and west hill lifts are funiculars. The lift going down brings up the lift coming up. Counter balance. When I was a child, we never paid to go down because they needed it to do its job, and it cost us 2p to come back up 😂 Just a couple of local vocabulary changes for you 😊 the cutter pubis ‘the cuerr’ no ‘t’s’ and Hastings is ‘astings’ or as much hubby says “astings with an ‘H’. And yes we also say saoff not south. A huge number of Londoners came to Hastings many years ago after the war and into the 70s so a huge number of us older ones, still use the London verbal. I’ve noticed newer generations don’t. Glad you enjoyed your trip, come again in the summer holidays when it’s all open and check out the high street and all saints street. I will leave you to look that up also xxx The ‘big eye carasel’ that you saw, can not be opened. It was situated in Hastings, then leant out for a year, but when it came back and they started to put it up on its new site, they discovered the ground was unsafe. Idiot council.

Loving your Hastings vlog, good advice on narrowness of roads, I tow a car as well and dread meeting anything as reversing is impossible! New camera seems to have a bit of a "wide angle view" as sometimes things look a bit "bent"?
We’ve just set caravan up near Hornsea, here for eight days, it’s now raining after a lovely sunny drive here ! Typical! Lovely to see you in the sunshine, though that drive to site was a bit scary for me, hate it when we think we’ve gone wrong or might need to turn round.
