Great Compassion Bodhi Prajna Temple extends an invitation to all virtuous individuals to support the global dissemination of Dharma teachings. Nestled in the serene forests of northern Toronto, Canada, our temple has dedicated a decade to adult Buddhist education and the cultivation of mindfulness in Western society. Unfortunately, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a decline in resources and donations. Nevertheless, we persist in our unwavering commitment to our initial aspiration of "propagating the Dharma in Western countries."
Abbot Venerable Master Miao Jing recognizes the crucial need to sustain Buddhist education. In the early stages of the pandemic, she embarked on the mission to propagate the Dharma through TH-cam online channels. However, this online propagation requires expensive hardwares, and our dedicated volunteers invest their time weekly in video productions. To ensure the continuous sustainability of our Dharma propagation mission, we earnestly invite virtuous supporters from around the world to join us as members, share the benevolent intentions, and support the long-term operations of the Buddhist mission at the Great Compassion Bodhi Prajna Temple. Fascinating. I'm pondering the giant, horrible fires of L.A. and the discovery of a gigantic aquifer here in Oregon, both occurring at once. Yesterday was the inauguration, so the message she gives, that we're being asked to instill great compassion to overcome greedy mind, seems to be perfectly on cue for us, as one, right now.

Yes, we sadly said yes, the California wildfires are just of the example. As global warming worsens, more natural disasters will occur across the globe. Therefore, we should dedicate ourselves to cultivating and chanting the Great Compassion Mantra, along with other mantras and practices, to increase positive energy across the six realms and bring blessings to all beings. I have wondered venerable why fire is the elemnt of Amitabha and the western pure land and in this context it means magnetizing, love, compassion, protection and warmth and comfort but in the context of the explanation there are none of these qualities. Why is the fire of the padme family different? Or is it the snake that gives it these negqtive qualities?
Thank you for your thoughtful question. The fire element itself is not inherently "negative." In the context of 2025, we observe that the fire element is often unbalanced, which can lead to negative impacts. This imbalance arises when fire's energy is not harmonized.
The teachings emphasize that to restore balance, one must cultivate compassion. Compassion harmonizes the fire element, transforming its energy into warmth, protection, and love-qualities that align with the essence of Amitabha and the Western Pure Land. The "snake" symbolism often relates to the energy of ignorance or delusion, which can distort the natural qualities of fire.
