What possibly be the reason Mark drastically changed plans "Camping" , with supplies already purchased!? unless the 'Cost' of inflation threw him off his high horse !! ... Didn't he make a point stating he was coming back to America to visit aging parents?! Yet he has hopped several jets through South East Asia and now driving Interstates across America. ... I will never understand a man leaving behind his family for a vacation on his own!! ( odd behavior sure and certain, especially with children)

Take Route 66 from Kingman Az to Laughlin NV thru Oatman Az . It may be hard to find by now . Haven't done it since '99 . Spend a night on the river in Laughlin .
Then thru the desert to Joshua Tree .
I did that last year, day trip drive out of Vegas. Pick up some carrots if you want to feed the donkeys in Oatman.
Nice ride son. Here in the sun city el paso,tx. There is a interchange. Called the spaghetti bowl I-10 and patriot freeway. Try driving from el paso to Texarkana. Driving all day. Welcome to the USA. Be safe.

As a fellow minivan owner I have to that when I do go back to the IS for a couple months a year it’s so nice to have that HUGE cargo area to move stuff in and even sleep in! I feel like it’s the best expat vehicle next to a small RV
Yes, you can save a ton of money like that, but I think it can be tough getting a good nights rest unless you can find a good little piece of turf, without cars buzzing through. . And that's exactly what i try to find if car camping.

Just got back to the PH after being in Vegas for a month. It's cold here, riding in the trike up the hills after dark in the province. Temp solidly in the 70's, felt like fall weather to me.
Gas is 30 to 50 cents higher up north..and more expensive still in Philippines you are a lucky guy! USA has lowest prices!
Once went 130 in my 240sx between Reno and Vegas. Wide open road and feeling of freedom.

King,,, you should be following the wind... I would recommend checking out the fall colors of New England...maybe a boondock day of NYC and do a drive by of DC swamp... then head south.. Show them the beach of South Carolina or the Outer Banks of NC. then cut down to the ghetto of Atlanta. before turning west for a rest stop at you home in Arkansas or wherever the hello your family is... from there travel 10 or 8 west to Texas... shoot up to AZ.. where its the winter playground for the retired folks... I highly recommend a stop in Bisbee, Apache Junction, or Jerome while in Arizona... great places to offroad camp just about anywhere. from there would could head south and show everyone the border crossings... of the great world migration that's happening... jet from there to San Diego, find that street preacher doing his downtown sermons. up to LA just to show the lights... then either San Fran or may Vegas... from there its up to the rocky coast of Oregon and Washington state. Don't leave off Humboldt county where the grow all the wacky weed. after that its time to cash in your YT checks.. and head to Alaska ... if you really want to experience some place that's chill ... Happy Travels..
