Historically Lorenzo was one of the only men during this time who didn't have any lovers during his marriage. He had to step up and lead and defend Florence and his family against enemies. Politics isn't always sunshine and rainbows. He had to do some things that Clarice didn't like, but he didn't like to do these things either and was forced to do them to defend his family and Florence. Often there isn't an easy way out. You've to choose between bad thing A and bad thing B to save your family or Florence. Unfortunately there isn't always an option C that doesn't hurt anyone. A powerful leader often has to make difficult decisions regardless if he wants or not. He's forced to.

They were basically two strangers. You can't really call it cheating if Lorenzo and Clarice were just two strangers living in the same house at that time. And by the time they got to know each other more he had ended his relationship with Lucrezia already.

I think it is airing in Italy at the minute and then will be on Netflix later in the year, but I wish they would just air it all at the same time.
