    That's it!
    Watching this movie again and again got to my head, I am getting one, the opportunity is here now.
    You guys might have bankrupted everyone who listened to your reviews and bought it.😁
    Feel free to ask for a commission, I will tell you which dealership delivered it.✌

    this is probably one of the most fun videos to watch. and the cake, was how much cringe Tod did with "oops, I'm in race mode"

    Great video as always. Now I wonder “what car will make Todd sing... and what will that song be?”

    I understand the fun in having an SUV that is stupidly fast and powerful, but for every one of these that gets bought, it’s another E63 AMG wagon that doesn’t get bought. And which one makes more sense? Other than ride height, the wagon is superior in every way for what this SUV will be used for. No one is off-roading this thing. No one is towing with this thing. They’re just cruising around taking kids to soccer practice and getting groceries albeit very quickly. These super fast SUVs are a menace to sports cars and cool wagons. Rant over.

    • @TestDriveVideos
      @TestDriveVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't disagree. And yet, the "need for high ride-height" has definitely solidified the SUV above the wagon. Thanks for watching!

    I get power and fast and comfy seats. I dont get why having more layers of menus is a positive thing. I dont get why 22 interior colors is good.
    Photoshop is a great example of overly complex and over engineered. If your coffee maker requires 45 minutes of setup thats not positive.
    A 1970 porsche 911 has great feel and makes me happy. It has no screens or navigation or ten modes of shifting or colors of interior lighting. The skill is in the driver, the fun is in the simple design. I love manual transmissions, and a car that feels great when you make a turn at high speed. Have you guys forgotten what that is about ?
    Anybody sail a boat? You need a light switch and a compass. The rest is a wheel or tiller and your ability to adjust lines to control the sails. Simple, elegant, rewarding , a lifelong passion of fun and enjoyment.
    Does anyone understand that simple is better ?

      Don’t forget... Todd owns and loves his Lotus. But the SUV/CUV segment is the other end of the world from that so we want to speak to how these do the big hauler with tech category. Thanks for watching as always.

    • @cayman9873
      @cayman9873 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul I appreciate the response. I really do. I just dont get the mass of tech being a better place to be if your going to keep a vehicle ten years or more. The suv with power and great luxury seats appeals to me. I dont think I could trust a bmw x5...but the porsche cayanne in more base trim seems like it might be a good buy 8 years old.. i cant swing 150 k for a suv that i would be afraid to own without the warranty.
      I think you have great instincts and describe car feel well , but I think car journalists get numb to the huge prices and extreme maintsinance costs of these cars and suvs.
      I have owned porsche and audi and lancia and vw and bmw. I am dreaming of buying both a large suv and a porsche 911 .. but my budgets are 25 k for the porsche and 15 for a used suv.. I just cant imagine many people that I know being able to buy any of these new trucks.. i know when I buy my well used porsche and do my own brakes and suspension work that I will love that car more than anyone that can just write check for 150 k.

    Lol it has red brake calipers. This thing is a joke. That interior is unusable and in five years will be out of date. Get Grand Cherokee TrackHawk. It is more functional, faster, and holds its value better.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trackhawk interior is much worse, IMO. And now that there's a new Grand Cherokee (the trackhawk isn't coming back), the trackhawk is already outdated. It has just 107 more HP, but its engine sound can't be beaten, I'll give FCA credit for that.

    Great review! This Mercedes reminds me of a Bentley 12 cylinder SUV I got to briefly drive. Before I drove it I said: "why would anyone want to drive an SUV this expensive?" Then I sat in the luxurious seat and drove it and pinned the throttle and then said: "ok now I get it!" 🙂

    That was the best ending to a video review I have seen in a long time. "Oops, I'm in race mode", I died laughing 🤣 😂

    I think you both hit on what makes the Mercedes AMG GLE63s so special: it is impossible to drive it without smiling, plus, it does absolutely everything and sounds and looks better than its rivals.
    I like it so much that I have owned two!

    Why do people with this much money spend it on SUV's? If they went out and bought supras and Caymans and used the leftovers to buy a very very nice SUV, automakers would make sports cars and automotive engineers wouldn't be wasting their time making a luxury SUV outperform a supercar.

    I love that Mercedes slopes the hood down to the front, contrasting most other makers have a giant cube of a front end with dead space and obscured visibility.

    I invented that eq system. I called it a superalternator. I don't think Mercedes' lawyers will find my sketches on graph paper from my early college days very threatening.

    CAN IT TOW A 7500 LB TRAILER?
    ONE LAST THING MY DRIVE WAY ENTRY GATE IS NARROW.
    SO HOW MANY INCHES WIDTH FROM MIRROR TO MIRROR SO I CAN GET THROUGH THE GATE.
    IF THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS FOLD IN, HOW MANY INCHES FROM MIRROR TO MIRROR FOLDED AND CAN I DRIVE FORWARD WITH THEM FOLDED?
    THANK YOU.

    I own this beast and it’s awesome. Chill most of the time and ridiculously fast when you want to behave like a hooligan. Most importantly it’s so comfortable…more comfortable than the X5M Comp, Audi RSQ8 and Porsche Cayenne T.

    We have the 53 version of this car. Honestly just as impressive. power is put down instantly and finds the right gear. Handles like a 2 door sports car and the air suspension in comfort just makes you float on the road. All around perfect car, the way you explained it was extremely accurate. It makes no sense as to why it exists, yet it does everything lol
