Hi Janet, I just came across this video by chance too. It's really beautiful, I love all the little spaces for Bible verses and quotes. Really lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Wow Jan! What a beautiful way of showcasing Edith Holden's art within your gorgeous creation! You've really given the book new life. I haven't been able to tear my Holden books up yet, but I just got my third one, so with your inspiration I may try😊❤️🐦Thank you! Laurel
Hi Laurel! I'm so glad I can inspire you! I do love Edith Holden's art, so whenever I can create something with her art, it's a win-win for me all the way round! Thanks for your kind words!
Thank you so much Marilyn. I greatly appreciate your kind words. I'm just happy I have an opportunity to work with her beautiful art. Take care and many thanks again!
I completely agree, how truly beautiful! I'm a newbie watching all the training videos I can...lol Enjoying your creations and loving your clear and informative videos. Thank you so much, I am inspired!! Attempting an Etsy shop myself, this is a serious challenge for me..lol. Looking forward to more beautiful creations...jenn
Hi Jen! Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so happy I can inspire others. When I discovered junk journals last year, I thought I'd fallen down a rabbit hole when I started looking at all the videos available! Many thanks again! Jan
Absolutely beautiful, you have treated the Edith Holden book with great dignity! Whoever bought it is very lucky to own it! You have done Edith Holden' s memory great justice! Thank you! I look forward to more tutorials, this was my first! 🐌🐦🐧🦆🦋
Hi Jan! What a lovely compliment! Thank you so much. I do really LOVE Edith Holden's work, her writing and her art. I never get tired of looking at it. I started another project with her work a few days ago and while looking through her art work for a suitable picture, I still found myself thrilled, as if I was seeing her work for the first time. I'm just glad I'm able do something that others enjoy. And it's great to spread the word about her art in whatever way I can. Many thanks again for the lovely compliment! Sincerely, Jan
Hi Janet, I just love your Edith Holden journal. It is so lovely to see a complete journal with all her beautiful art work. It makes me so happy that you find my videos easy to follow and you have used the Layered envelope pocket in your journal. It looks so lovely. Looking forward to see more of your wonderful journals, Hugs Gi x
Hi Cindy! Thank you so much! You're going to love the book! I got my first book, The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady, in 1980. And I still enjoy it. Her other book, The Nature Notes of an Edwardian Diary, I believe was written first. It's excellent too, but Country Diary is my favorite. May God bless. Jan
@@janetfursdon9494 I'm wondering how I've not seen them before! Also..who owns copyright? I thought we could use items that were past 100 yr mark. I don't want to tear up the new book
@@cindyreseck4429 My understanding is that her estate owns copyright, which they likely renewed. I buy used ones whenever I can, to cut up for journals. I'm just glad her art is enjoying a renewed appreciation.
I stumbled across this video by chance and I’m so glad I did!!! I loveEdith Holden and use her book pages in my journals but have never seen a journal made entirely from her pages. You’ve done a fabulous job and I thoroughly enjoyed looking through this beautiful journal!!!! Thanks for sharing ❤️😊
Another beautiful journal! I've never done just an Edith Holden journal. I've just used bits and pieces of Edith in journals, so this is a great idea! It really accents her incredible art work. TFS the inspiration, Janet!
Oh wow! Just google it, or better yet, go on TH-cam and do a search. I'd heard about them years ago, but they were actually made from "junk mail", etc., as a way to recycle and make something from nothing. But I never cared for them. I wish we didn't have to use that same term now because, more often than not, the journals out there now are fabulous!!
Hi Laura. Sorry for the late reply. To be perfectly honest, the templates he makes for me are rather expensive because he uses Lexan (thicker, hard "plastic" for want of a better word). And since he's made these initial templates for me, I've discovered an easier, faster and much less expensive method, especially for the smaller templates I use in my journals. I probably need to make a quick tutorial about this! Anyway, in the grocery store or places like Wal-Mart, in the section where they sell disposable baking pans, I found that some larger ones have clear plastic lids on them. Probably for transporting cookies, etc. These lids are PERFECT for templates. They're flat in the center, large enough for all the templates I use for journals, and are thin enough that I can cut them with my scissors yet still thick enough that I can trace around them with an ink pen when I'm cutting out pages. And they're inexpensive as well! So they're great on all counts. Also, sometimes I'll use the clear plastic lids that come on bakery goods I've purchased from the grocer. These are smaller, but work great for small templates. I create the templates by using thick card stock to create the shape of the template. Then I just trace around the card stock template onto the clear plastic with a black Sharpie marker, cut it out, and voila! Does this make sense? Let me know if you have any questions and I'll help as much as I can. And many, many thanks for your lovely compliment! Jan Fursdon
Hi Hilda! Thanks for asking. If I remember correctly, it's a sewn pamphlet stitched spine and the cover was done by using a full 2-page spread that I carefully removed from one of her books. The pages in her book are very thick, so they were able to stand up to the pressure required for use as a cover. Have a blessed weekend. Jan
Thank you so much for giving her the respect she deserves. Would you tell me the name of the beige paper you have used. What a good replacement for the stained papers which I have been looking for. Ive been using kraft paper which is too dark or executive types of paper which are too light.I would really appreciate it.
Hi Donna! First of all, thanks for subscribing. As for the beige paper, are you referring to the small inserts of paper that I put in the envelopes and tags? Or are you referring to the journal pages themselves that everything is sewn or glued onto? The inserts of paper are part of a book I found at Wal-Mart!! It's kept in their office supply section. It's 6" by 8" and a little over 1" thick, with a somewhat plain heavy cardboard front and back that has muted gold polka dots on the front cover. Some covers are bright pink, turquoise, etc., but the insides are the same. The spine - at least in all that I've purchased - is a diagonal stripe of gold and white. I just tear the pages out. I like the paper because you can easily write on it and I like the color. If you send me your e-mail, I'll send you a photo of one of the books. If you're referring to the actual journal pages, I use beige colored copy paper that I've coffee dyed. The paler journal pages are some I purchased online through Etsy. Hope this helps!

Hi again Leah! Yes, I did reply to your question on my other Edith Holden video, but I thought I'd go ahead and include the response again here, so others can see it as well. Many thanks for your interest!! My earlier response: Great question, and I did check into that. I'm allowed to do what I do because I use only the original pages from her books; I literally deconstruct the books carefully and use those pages. But what I'm not allowed to do is photocopy the pages then create journals with those copies. Thanks for asking and have a lovely weekend.
It's nice that you admired the thistle. Up north they grow wild everywhere, so not so appreciated. I always thought the flower is pretty too.
