I think I saw someone say the when PSY wrote that line about the pandemic being over, he was hoping that by the time the song came out, it would actually be over but unfortunately it’s still not over 😫

As a line it still makes sense this feeling of wanting it to be over. To be honest my country depends on tourism so we don’t prioritize the virus anymore, no masks inside/out, no Covid cert./testing….
As far as I’m concerned I don’t give a f* there’re worse things happening on the east
SUGA *wrote* this song for PSY. PSY spoke about how he was looking for a song to come back with, and he'd tried a few times to write something, but nothing really felt right. *This* was exactly what he was looking for. SUGA was just going to give it to him, but PSY cajoled him into producing... then rapping... then appearing... then dancing in the MV... watch the behind-the-scenes, because the retelling of how it all went down is just hilarious.
PSY feels very strongly about giving back and mentoring the next generation, and I suspect his encouraging SUGA's deeper involvement in the song was part of that mentoring. The two of them reportedly got along like a house on fire.
And though, like you, a lot of ppl were saying this seemed to be an unusual fit for SUGA and better suited to someone like Hobi... are you forgetting who the OTHER half of SOPE is? SUGA's sense of humor is just as wacky, he's just (usually) quieter about it (although not always so quiet, if you watch Run BTS). I think he utterly nailed the zany camp feel that's just perfect for PSY.
This is one of the songs that makes you groove instantly... now I get why

it might be an unexpected duo but suga definitely fits what psy wants in his collab. he wants someone who have very good understanding of composition and music, stage presence, can dance really well and only yoongi checks all the boxes especially the producer one. he also collaborated with multiple artists with different genre of music so it's not really surprising. he's a genius, talented, and known for his diversity
What I really like abt yoongi is that when it comes to his works he tries to get out of his comfort zone and glad Psy shared the process. I've been following yoongi for a while and there's always element of surprise, you don't know what to expect in his next song.
Psy and his team did really great and I enjoy all the contents from this release. The mv is toned down compare to his other mvs I must say, it helps yoongi to fit just fine.

SUGA is the reason why this song exists. He is the one who approached PSY and said he wanted to produce for him. SUGA was only to produce the song, but it was PSY who methodically convinced him to rap and be in the MV. Watch their full interview. It is hilarious. So glad SUGA was in this. He did a masterful job in the production of this song.
SUGA might be the more serious of the group, but he can be a comedian too. You will know this if you really know BTS. And it was nice to see him in this video, and he was PERFECT for the video too.
Kudos to SUGA for producing another hit.

Suga is a Pisces. As a fellow Pisces and artist too I found that interview hilarious and totally on point. He's introverted but sometimes we (as Pisceans) just lose our shit and act goofy af 🤣🤪
I actually think that any of the other bts members would be a bit of a weirder collab tbh, yoongi had this playful but still serious disposition which is pretty much everything psy stands for in terms of his music- playful music that is still serious, not just a joke/gag. Plus yoongi is a great rapper who could make a good feature on any sort of song, as he has been really open to trying new things and pushing his comfort zone. I honestly couldn’t imagine any of the other members in this song. Either way, it’s a great bop and the dance is so catchy.
I think a funny point is that the pandemic is far from over, but it’s vastly different in Korea vs America. So in a sense, it’s not as weird to say pandemics over when Koreans comply with guidelines😑
This song was released after Korea had just gotten rid of most of their restrictions and daily cases have been at a low. So to me it does feel like it’s over a little bit although I know it’s still a thing

People who are living in Korea practically think the pandemic’s over because the government is treating it like it’s over. We don’t even need to wear masks outside legally anymore (something the Korean government was waaaay to strict with), although most ppl still wear them out of paranoia. This song feels like an opener to the stage of life where it’s saying to the world, but Koreans especially, ‘Come out of your shell and celebrate’z

the things i like about PSY are: how much he can laugh at himself and make everyone have fun by totally committing to the bit (whether it's with funny songs and characters in his music videos, whether it's dancing to beyonce or exid's choreographies, whether it's full-sending any choreography that he does), how bold he is in terms of concepts and controversies (his first song was pretty explicit and he regularly slips things that sound like cuss words into lyrics but aren't technically), how he strives to give people 'participation' over 'exhibition' (so like a fun dance that everyone can do rather than a complex idol dance that looks cool) because that's his talent, how his company lets artists express themselves and have artistic control, how generous he is as a performer and so full of stamina in concerts (he gives endless encore songs, his concert energy is INSANE, he puts FULL EFFORT AND THEN MORE into concert performances and doesn't stop until the audience is satisfied), how cool and composed and HUMBLE he can be in the face of unprecedented global fame and attention from English-speaking media (in 2012, completely unheard of back then for a Korean artist, let alone a solo one), healthy body image and supportive fans, the sheer volume of songs he's written for himself and other artists, the way his demographic is everybody, old and young, psy's music is for everybody, also i like the songs that are inspired by personal events and feelings like 'It's Art' which is about the euphoria of a concert and connecting with the crowd, like 'Entertainer' which is his proposal song to his wife, or other slower and more personal, introspective songs like 'Father' 'Paradise' 'Refuge' 'Last Scene' 'Dream' which are super touching. i've replayed the song 'Now ft. Hwasa' from his latest album literally hundreds of times, i like the 80s vibes of it. i think he's a great role model in terms of like attitude, confidence, heart, and commitment
Suga composed, produced, co-wrote and obviously featured in this song with dynamic PSY, which I think is fire! Well done to both of them 🔥
This song has been constantly on my playlist (as my go-to household chores tune) and in my head ever since it came out and I cudn't figure out why. Thank u! I can always trust ReacttotheK to teach me something new about music. I recognized Latin influences, but pinpointing Tango and clave rhythms just had me going oh, so that's why!

I remember visiting my uncle after he came back from being stationed in South Korea. He showed the video of Gangnam Style, and I remember thinking how funny and happy it was to listen to.
The MV didn't translate Suga's verse very well... he says a LOT more than that.

Haven't been by the channel in a hot minute but it's always fun when you break out the specialities, cool to get percussionist perspective on the rhythms and how they work! The demos with the piano and that... surface for the drumsticks??? What's that called? was very cool :D And I liked the reactor's comments on the mix, there's just something about that combo of brass plus the beat that makes you want to move! :P

The comments here are weird and stupid. Umu has never said she won't react to BTS. She does have a list that is vetted by her peers for reacting and there is a schedule for it. However really big artists with huge comebacks do get bumped up on priority. Has been happening for a while now. And while the musically interesting ones have the entire react panel on it the really big artists who may not have super complex songs but are fun anyway are usually reacted to by one pair of the cast. At least that's my observation. But if you guys keep up your complaints she most likely will stop reacting to BTS. I am ARMY but my God is a huge chunk of the fandom embarrassing
honestly, if Umu gives up on BTS reactions, I can't blame her (it actually would be welcome, people have progressively gotten annoying throughout the years)

I really like this song, it's a vibe (although can't relate with "pandemic's over" just yet, Psy hahahahahahaha). I don't think I've seen a reaction to Psy's older songs, so maybe if it's something that can fit in the schedule (I dunno anything about song structure or complexity tho), then it'd be neat.
