I remember seeing Jon at house parties, considering we went to the same high school. His story of being drug and drink free and being sheltered makes me laugh, a lot.
This is so dumb lol. Every celebrity video has some dummy pretending they knew said celebrity. John was a self proclaimed teenage snitch and anyone who knew him as a kid says he didn't do drugs/drink like when he became an adult. Even this video says his parents didn't let him go to parties.
What scares me about Jones is how chillingly calm and clear headed he seems in interviews. It kind of feels like someone who could have turned into a murder but found UFC first.
They knew that there was no way to beat Uncle chael , never lost a round in his life not even in training as a child and a teenager Jones needed to adjust his cycle before you could get in the cage with the gangster
Jon hallucinating being covered in white feathers was really just Chael taking his back and walking him like a dog TBF if Chael Sonnen took your back, you’d think you were covered in feathers too Woke up and thought he was champion! He’s out riding horses with the Nogueira brothers while Chaels in his villa eating a fat ribeye, medium rare, just the way he likes it
People be saying there's no redemption for a wife beater, personally I think he was beyond redemption the second he choked and forcekissed the waiter. The domestic abuse just pushed him even further beyond redemption.
Redemption can only happen once someone has truly apologized, has faced the consequences for their actions, and has truly changed. Jones has done none of this.
I think Tom is in the circle, he knew way more than most casual fans do and way more than a quick search would tell you. Either he really dug, or he was in the community as this was going on.
I'm a lifelong UFC fan and I've been a sub here for 4 years, so this is crazy to see lmao. I will say tho, your research is on point, you did these stories justice. I especially like how you gave Chael respect and props. Because of the result of their fight, a lot of people would gloss over the fact that he was actually a beast and huge threat at one point, and that's why Jones backed out.
He's also got some super heavy bias if you know all about a topic. Not saying he's not on point at times but sometimes his own beliefs largely derail from the truth. Just stay frosty
The recidivism rate for abusers especially in DV is extremely high. And considering the fact that he’s never faced consequences- uttering the word redemption in relation to this POS is hilarious. He needs to be taken out.

(Just an disclaimer i haven’t watched the full vid yet) Jon has had a very long history of him getting into trouble with usada and legal battles and just issues with his personal life. But he is truly one of the biggest villains in mma as he is someone that people love in the cage but hate out almost like an antihero. 8:15 Correction: This is the most repeated myth in mma history. The real reason 12-6 elbows were banned was because there is a(very small) chance that downward elbows could potentially blind a fighter if they landed directly in someone’s eye socket. Wether you like the rule or not, that’s the true story. I have no idea why John McCarthry keeps repeating this myth for like 20 years now. Ironically enough, the king of legal eye pokes was DQ’d for a move that could’ve blinded someone.
how you gunna say he’s repeating a myth when he is literally THE official who created the rule set in collaboration with doctors. Yea you probably know more than the guy who was present when it was made illegal and named the fucking strike itself😂
@@tylerwhite4557 the athletic commission that helped create the rules and adopted the rules(since they had the actual authority and final say)gave the same explanation I did, genius. McCarthy can say whatever he wants. Floyd Patterson was the head of the NY State athletic commission and the one who ultimately refused to remove that rule for the express reason I just said. He did so at the advice of the doctors from the AC. That’s reality.
what about elbows from a bit to the side, like 3-6 elbows? are they allowed? if so, couldn't they ALSO blind someone?? explain like I'm a retarded 5 year old btw
@@wontonschannel they potentially could but realistically there’s a very low probability an elbow lands just perfectly to crate an eye injury. The issue isn’t the likelihood, it’s the devastating injury it could cause if it DOES happen. However, elbows thrown at an angle are more common just by virtue of being more practical in multiple situations. It’s a rule that exists more out of POTENTIAL concern rather than practical concern. Throwing 12-6 elbows is still a legitimate technique. Same as head butting or soccer kicks. The athletic commission just bans them because from their perspective, the risk of serious injury isn’t worth allowing them. The UFC hates the 12-6 rule(which I kinda understand) so they’ve told the whole “brick breaking”!story for years to discredit the rule. The rules state that an elbow has to be a literal 12-6 motion with absolutely zero side movements. Since the UFC hates the rule, they interpret it VERY strictly, to the point where an elbow theism from a 89 or 91 degree angle is legal. They do this to prevent a bunch of DQs or No Contests that would happen if this rule was interpreted more loosely.
Hey Turkey Tom, Big fan of you entering the sports world. Your ability to guide during a story while still tackling the sentiment at each stage is perfect for this world. Also try clubhouses and teams in other sports!
There's a nuance. That's due to the accents found in most of Brazil. In Portugal "Rua" sounds like "rooh-a" while in Brazil it rolls with a softer R as in "rh-ua". It's almost like Khabib starts with the Cyrillic X which is neither a K or H. If you can speak Portuguese you say the R according to your accent byt for English speakers "Hua" is the crutch.
Even if you enjoy MMA and enjoy the skill Jon has it is still impossible to ignore all of the things he has endulged in and keeps indulging in. He should not be given a platform let alone be a role model. He didnt recieve any punishments for his crimes and is still eligible to fight just because he's the UFC's wonderboy. In the end, no matter how good he was he's an awful human being and there is no possible redemption for him, no happy ending. At least not a real happy ending that is.
Jones honestly should have been kicked out of the UFC a long time ago for PED abuse. The domestic violence incident should have been the final straw not just for his UFC but his MMA career in its entirety. Jones' Dana White privilege and Celebrity privilege has saved his ass from obscurity and a jail cell on too many an occasion.
As an mma hardcore idk why the one incorrect fact I felt the need to comment was that Rampage had been submitted by Sakuraba in Pride way before he even got to the UFC, so it definitely wasn’t his first Sub loss. Awesome video though! I was presently surprised that there were one or two tidbits here I had never heard before 👍 (and hearing Shogun’s name pronounced like that sounds hilarious for some reason lol)

I’m going to assume you’re a casual fan/new to the sport based on your pronunciation of some fighters you mentioned such as the Mauler, Gegard, Stipe, and Shogun which makes your coverage on Jones all the more impressive. However there are some things I think you missed that should have been addressed (crazy right?) Jones went to congratulate Machida only after his coach said to do so to make some fans, his second fight with the Mauler had to be moved from Las Vegas to California on a weeks notice (meaning every fighter had to figure out how to get there if they wanted to fight the UFC wouldn’t cover their expenses) because Jones failed a drug test and Nevada wouldn’t give him a license to fight and lastly I forget when but Jones also threatened to sexually assault DC’s wife by slapping her ass in front of DC if he ever saw them in public.
That division was so stacked and most of those guys were veterans and had already faced each other before. Then Jon went in there brutally butchered all of them like a damn god. It truly was a sight to behold.
And people hate Francis because he is the exact opposite person. Literally a man who grew up poor in Africa, crossed the Sahara, captained a migrant boat, made it to France, became UFC champion, championed fighter rights. All while being a great human being
Who in the world hates Francis? (XD Beside Dana obviously) I don't think I've talked to a single fan who wasn't at least more on positive side of neutral towards the guy, and everyone in my circles were bummed when he and the UFC couldn't come to an agreement.
Bro thiago blew out both his knees in that fight and needed complete reconstruction on both. Its wild how close that fight was. A normal person would be on the ground screaming if they blew one knee.
Nothing Jon Jones has done would make the MMA community as mad as your pronunciation of some of these fighters names!!!😂😂😂 Love the channel, keep it up!!!
A UFC vid by Turkey Tom? Ooooo, loving the branching out. I have seen almost every video essay out there covering my favorite sociopath, so glad to see another lol.
jon is basically a perfect fighter in terms of build and he really tries to be a nice guy but all his actions outside the cage really do make it impossible to defend him and its kind of a sad story knowing how great he could've been but ruined prime years of his career to drugs and PEDs and tarnished a good amount of his legacy
His 'nice guy' (good Christian boy) persona has been known to be a facade for years. What lurks behind is a dark, narcissistic sociopath of a man who has enormous killer instinct and is excellent at fighting but who also feels like he can do whatever he wants, that he's the victim of any comeuppance he may receive and that nothing is his fault.
@@madgavin7568 I truly dont think its a facade to him I think he believes everything he says when he's being nice to genuinely make up for his wrongs but like I said he's indefensible because at his core he is that awful person we all know and have seen and no matter how nice he acts everyone knows the true him
😂 tarnished? Everybody who actually has a valid opinion in the MMA community says Jon is the goat 🤷♂️ the only ppl who deny that are mouth breathing keyboard warriors who have never even been in a fight and imho are probably just jealous lmao
A couple things not discussed in the video that I'd like to share is that firstly, before the implementation of random drug testing in 2015, it was more or less expected and considered acceptable for people to do steroids in mma, though many people such as DC and Gustaffson were likely never on steroids. After the random drig testing using steroids was alot more taboo because of the fact that someone people have faced lost eyes and limbs against steroid enhanced fighters. Its hard seeing DC get head kicked by Juicy Jones because not only has DC taken similar shots like them from unenhanced fighters and survived, meaning jones may have only got that knockout due to his steroid enhancement, but taking a knockout like that has a chance to ruin someones durability and end their athletic prime and ability to compete or enjoy the sport. Also, Jones always says every time he cheats or gets arrested that it is a test from god and that he is working to become better when in reality, as alluded to by DC and Rashad, he doesn't actually mean those things.

Agree. Chael is one of the few who's IRL shitposts are usually backed up by his skills.
Oh shit tweedy whaddup
He's also got some super heavy bias if you know all about a topic. Not saying he's not on point at times but sometimes his own beliefs largely derail from the truth. Just stay frosty
The recidivism rate for abusers especially in DV is extremely high. And considering the fact that he’s never faced consequences- uttering the word redemption in relation to this POS is hilarious. He needs to be taken out.

8:15 Correction:
This is the most repeated myth in mma history.
Impulse. How you feel now?
Hey Turkey Tom,
Big fan of you entering the sports world. Your ability to guide during a story while still tackling the sentiment at each stage is perfect for this world. Also try clubhouses and teams in other sports!
Great video Tom! In Portuguese, you pronounce leading “R’s” with a “ha” sound, kind of like an H in English. So Shogun Rua’s name is pronounced “Hua”.
Shoot I swear I meant to specify Brazilian Portuguese. Thank you for the clarification!

His 'nice guy' (good Christian boy) persona has been known to be a facade for years.
Also, the long term pulsing argument is most agreed to be bullshit and jones absolutely cheated against Gus
I’m so glad people aren’t idiots thank you for speaking facts
