    Great to you out on the water again ladies. I've been without wifi for a while, so look forward to catching up on your adventures.

    Classic comment: I can’t use fresh air as a Nav Marker! Love the vid - keep it up.

    Great video. I did the narrows for the first time just this weekend. It's a brutal bit of water with no easy way through even under the best conditions. I can only imagine what it is like under the worst.
    The chart plotter on your boat is a bit of a concern if it takes you over land! Surely there should be some sort of logic algorithm that would prevent nonsense routing?

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it is quite usual to sail over land. For instance, coming out of Liverpool we sail over sands that are up to 4 metres above chart datum - it saves 2 hours of passage. Similarly in North Wales and parts of Scotland.
      Nonetheless - congrats on your passage. It must have been a bit nerve-wracking!

    You have plenty of rocks to avoid there, keep you on your toes. I went to Killyleagh with another salty lass, who bought one of my previous boats. I sailed there the next year to cast an eye on the old boat one more time. I'm in the Oban area but not going further, some islands still closed, Eigg for one.

      Good to hear from you Mike 👍 We are not sure where we are going yet, that is something we will be looking into next week.
      We spoke to the guy that owns that boat here, the one you helped out but he might be a different owner as he has no recollection of the event.

      @@SailingYachtSaltyLass Cobra 850 fin keel, I called it Baroc (anagram you probably guessed) but the salty lass changed it to something like Highland Fling or similar. It was around 12 years ago, I can check logs when home. I returned in a Halcyon 27 called Corycia which is now in Conwy and owned by a TH-cam contributor, channel name same. Been very murky here, Cuan sound in the mist this morning for entertainment!

      We are thinking of going back up that way. Is it worth it? Are there enough things open?

      @@SailingYachtSaltyLass It won't be the same as normal, offices shut so mooring charges to be paid on the phone , shore facilities may be affected etc. Plenty of anchorages, hope for settled weather and anchor. I went to Lusso bay near the top of Jura east side and anchhored there overnight. Make a list of all those places. One I wanted to go but passed was an inlet open to the north between Loch Feochan and Easdale. Easdale itself is an interesting place. (To starboard after passing through sound of Luing.) Stock up well before going, mask needed in shops. Try and find current situation with the islands.

    I've noticed that you and others from NI don't fly the ensign? Is there a security reason for that?

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass

      I cannot speak for others, but sometimes we just forget to put it out, other times we remember. It is all a bit random.....

    Very nice Ladies..
    Learning far more from smalls mistakes, to avoid large ones, than not learning anything from a smooth sail.
    Ps Bev with your intro, is there any chance of add your first names, i know Bev, I can’t catch your Partners name Gatla? Gatela? Driving me crazy! 😂.
    Thanks so much!

    Hiya
    Was passage planing strangford Lough yesterday due to corvid, would you say its straight forward to a boat/captain with only 500 miles ?
    TBF didn't look the most picturesque 😁
    Will be hopefully coming in from Douglas if it's open in August. Thanks for the giggles your videos have given us during this pandemic 👍

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think it is a simple enough passage as long as you plan carefully. From Douglas, I would look to go through Calf Sound. According to the locals at Strangford, as long as the tide is coming in you can get in OK, but it is more comfortable if you do not arrive with the strongest part of the flow mid-way between tides. Have Ardglass as a divert harbour.
      The Lough was not at its best when we were there. We had a run of poor weather and lots of places where closed because of the virus. Next week's episode will have a few sunnier scenes in it but sadly, we did not get glorious weather.
      Killyleagh YC members were great to talk to. Strangford Lough YC were also very helpful (as much as they could be in these times).
      I think that in good weather and with more places open it would be much more fun.

    Great to see you getting out. Boats and sailors rot in harbour. Like your thinking approach, not really a rookie approach if you ask me. Every day is a school day.

    Isn't making small errors called experience? If you don't make any you won't learn anything? So you are getting experienced!!!

    • @SailingYachtSaltyLass
      @SailingYachtSaltyLass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed. But we thought we had those experiences sorted out. We did not expect to do them twice 😄
