It's crazy that this is the 4th 1-run game between these two teams. Had it not been for the 8th inning yesterday, this could have been the 5th 1-run game in just the span of 6 games lol. The Giants managing to win the first 3 games without having a normal starter is extremely impressive, thanks to the bullpen arms only allowing 5 ERs in 22.1 IP (2 ER in 22 IP excluding Luke Jackson in game 1). Tomorrow they go for the sweep but have to face one of the best pitchers in baseball to do it, should be a fun game.

That reversal on the Morel slide was absurdly bad(the Giants infielder literally smashed his hand/arm off the bag after he was safe). The fact that Counsell didn't run out there speaks volumes as to why this team plays with zero fire/hustle with the exception of PCA and Morel. Not really a case of "better". It's more about different roles, and finding which role best suits each pitcher. Some pitchers are more suited for multiple innings, and some are best for one or maybe two innings. Good question.
@@AntonStachSZN Starters generally get paid far more than relief pitchers, mainly because they will pitch far more innings in a season (200+ for a good starter, vs. maybe 70 for a top reliever). Also, the number of pitchers who can fulfill the starter role (more innings per game, facing hitters 2-3 times in a game, usually more different pitch types required) is far smaller than the number that can handle 1-2 inning reliever roles, so smaller supply.
Let me guess, that was a knuckle curve that Smyly threw right down the exact center of the zone at 80mph. So many home runs off Smyly, he really ought to make some adjustments (or just get DFA'd).
Am I crazy or was that a balk when Happ was on 2nd? His foot was on the rubber, he lifted his leg, then he stopped and checked Happ running to 3rd. Isn't that a balk? Someone help me understand.
It's only a balk if the pitcher moves *towards home plate* but then stops and checks the runner. It's also a balk if the pitcher starts and stops his movement without throwing anywhere, like a twitch. Those two make it very confusing 😂 But from what I can see, this play was legal, sadly. His movement only goes up or horizontally, it never goes toward home plate. Hope this helps!
First couple weeks of the season I was talking to my buddy and I was like well man. The Cubs are going to hit and that's no doubt about that. It's a matter of whether or not they're going to be able to hold up in the bullpen. They definitely have not held up in the bullpen and heading toward the dog days of summer, they are not hitting. It's like I said that and they stopped.

Conforto, Villar, Matos, Jackson, Miller, Tyler, and Doval were the heroes. Giants's Latin Connection coming through big time these days...
