    The way this man explains bowling is superb. He goes into a lot of detail, and teaches in concepts that are easy to understand.

    I love your videos. I league bowled for 12 years when I lived in Michigan. When I moved to Mississippi I fell out of it. I recently picked up bowling again this past year. I'm in my first league since 2001 and I'm at 200 average. But, I have been watching alot of your videos and I love the clock explanation. People see me practicing during open bowling about how to hook and I try to explain to them some of your techniques I have picked up on. Thanks JR and please keep your videos coming. If I still lived in Dearborn Heights I would definitely be coming to see you.

    Using the clock sample to change hand positions in releasing the ball is a clear and superb tip for us. I have to try this next time on our League and hopefully I'll see better results. Thanks JB man .. . very much appreciated.

    i left a comment on one of your other videos on hand positions. in this video I learned a lot from your pie chart of clock time positions for thumb-fingers. on the suitcase release I learned from my dad in the 60's, my thumb is around 9 o'clock, with no rotation or spin. that's the way they did it in his house with the hard rubber balls in ''68

    A helpful tip JR thanks. When I originally began bowling in the 90s, a coach told me for plastic ball release your hand release had to have a 10 degree tilt on it. I reckon my thumb release is about 10 o'clock. When I'm shooting spares I always go for a dead ball noon shot.
    I'll try changing to an 11 o'clock release to see if I'm any better at getting strikes.

    I soo much like your video's. It helps a lot when i train my youth bowlers, to visualise it for them and make it easier to understand. My knowledge is good, but my own examples are not, so i am glad i can use yours. Keep it up like this man 👍🏻

    Thank you for your videos as I am getting better at curving. Where I get lost is when you say about getting your thumb out first. Do I move my thumb up to get out of the ball? Also I am little confused on when should I start rotating my hand/wrist

  • @youtou2739

    Thanks for the great info, JR! So an 11 o'clock-ish thumb position is all I've yet been able to muster on a release. When I try to get my thumb to 10 or 9 o'clock, the thumb doesn't come out, it tops the ball, and I'm yanked face down onto the lane. Ouch! Oily ouch! Can you do a video on a transition step that will get us from 11 to 10 or 9 with a smooth thumb release? Thanks!

I have been trying to figure this out for years !! I CAN'T give you enough likes ! I could ONLY play straight down and in! When the lanes dried out. I could NOT play inside and out. Now thanks to you , I am fixed. God bless you real Good !

    I have been trying to stay under the ball at release,to get my thumb out first. Looks like my thumb is at 12 at release sometimes at 11. This would be why I have been hitting the 3-6 pins and leaving the left side pins. When I try to get around the ball, I have a tendency to finish very left, my hand zips past my face . I do feel my middle finger staying in last, and can feel a burn. Then I go brooklyn. Thanks for the tip.

    So the thumb stays fully in the ball until the hand turns to the desired position? I thought you need to get it out much earlier. Can you do a slow-motion close-up of the full hand movement to show when exactly the thumb exits? Plus other hand movements as it turns, like cupping/uncupping? Many thanks!

    Love your videos. They've helped me improve a lot! I'm struggling with this tip though. I'm trying to do this, but my ball just spins on its side instead of rolling like yours did. What might I be doing wrong/how does that get addressed?

    • @MRRAY84
      @MRRAY84 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's not rolling through then you're turning your hand over the ball instead of lifting through the release from the bottom. When practicing, make sure that when you release you don't end up on top of the ball. Rotate your hand position, keep your elbow down and lift through the release.

    Im looking for a little info. I saw in video a ball that really reacted and hooked hard left. I am having trouble with my shots doing that. It looks great down lane right on target then it breaks left and if I'm lucky I get brooklyn if not the maybe the 7. Or it hooks right infront of pins to the gutter lile the video. I am a two finger bowler. I've tried a few things like moving left but Im running out of room to go left. Any ideas/ help. I have noticed that speed does effect it sometimes. Like if I slow my swing its not so bad but if I crush it and put a lot of power on it seams to just take off left.

  • @charlieodom9107

    Easier said than done! I have very good side roll and plenty of hook, but I struggle to get my hand back behind the ball with any consistency to create more control in the midlane. There are times, many times, when more up the back would create a hook set ball motion for me and I wouldn't leave 8 pins. (I'm a lefty)
    I can change my hand position, tilt, and rev rate fine, but man do I suck at getting my rotation down to 45° with any consistency.

  • @cramones88
    @cramones88 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My experience is when i side roll it. The ball loses energy in the back and when i stay up the back it stores energy till the back and finishes in stronger in the pocket. Both get to the pocket on the same line but it’s a matter of finishing stronger. Does this make any sense? I just started practicing my different hand roll so I’m still gathering information. The above statement is true for my idol but my halo seems to follow what your saying more. Please help lol

    • @BowlerXcom
      @BowlerXcom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd assume you have a pretty high axis tilt it that's the case

    • @cramones88
      @cramones88 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      BowlerX.com I need to go back and watch that video on tilt. I’m still not 100% sure how to recognize and change my tilt. I think I have a very basic tilt since I don’t keep my hand on the inside of the ball on release. So much to learn and practice. Thanks for replying. 🤙🏽

    When I try this type of hand position thumb out at either 10 or 9 o'clock the flying elbow ie. chicken wing happens any hints to stop that?

    • @dsrad85
      @dsrad85 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ralph Jerome chicken winging means that you are turning your whole arm at the release. It’s all about the wrist turning, not the arm.
      Look at the crease of your elbow at release. It should stay straighter.If it’s pointing to the left, you will have that chicken wing release.
