Yeah we got a tigercat also and it is a beast. Our company is just starting with land clearing. We just finish the Google site here in VA and that tigercat did its thing. 68 acres cleared, cut, logged, grinding, and got it don't in about 2 months. The H855C with the cutter head is no joke.

Nice video Thomas. Good looking cutter. You're right about small businesses shutting down. To much greed over the mighty dollar. Bertha sounds good. Take care and have a blessed and safe week and I'll see you on your next video.

Nice machine!! She is a beast!! I run one everyday!! And you will have no issues with it heating up or running warm!! The pumps stay extremely cool considering what it's doin...great purchase

Pineasaurus would be a good name for the cutter. Small farmers in my area are having the same problems, dealers cater to the larger farmers before the little guy. Thanks for the videos and stay safe.

You are right about the dealer reform. I have had a couple of people come to my house and dropp off small equipment to work on them because the dealers are either rude to the customers or treat their employees like garbage. Half the time, it's a welding related repair or a small issue fix. Either way, I still make sure the quality is there and it is fixed to last a long time.

Nice cutter. You’re right about what dealers can often charge for repairs and parts today. On the other side I have some knowledge of dealer cost. What does it take to add another service truck to the fleet? Most today will require a CDL for the driver, commercial tags and insurance, welder, air, crane tools and spare parts. 300-400k easily then you have to find a qualified mechanic that has all the skills needed to fix everything you sell! That’s a hard person to find nowadays and afford! You could always train in-house but you can’t expect customers to pay full shop rate for training your technicians while they perfect their troubleshooting skills. The best small crew I see try and run newer iron with warranty support while some bigger crews can employ their own in house mechanics. It’s expensive either way and todays fuel, insurance, equipment cost and low cut n haul rate’s don’t help loggers of today! It’s like Booby Goodson said “if the numbers won’t work out on paper it’s time to go” !

Ridiculous ain’t the word for the stealerships. Case in point we just had a line boring quote for boss pins from our local dealer… $9800 parts and labor “IF” we hauled to their shop. It would be an additional 2 to 3 days TT&M on top if they came onsite.
Local welding shop came out and did the entire job, parts and labor for $3500.

THE STEMANATER, yall stay safe and keep Mickey straight. I saw in the news they are closing a paper mill in North Carolina, 1100 people lost their jobs. I wonder how many loggers will be effected by that plant closing?

I know how you feel about equipment cost and fuel cost and a mechinic cost it’s crazy also up north in Canada seeing logging company’s and oil field right now shutting down going out off business also 20 /30 year old business because parts and fuel cost and equipment company are saying if you don’t buy it someone else will sucks to be you thanks for sticking it out love the videos

Awesome video! As a former diesel mechanic now a logger i have a bit of an opinion on the overpriced and poor quality service. A lot of this is caused imo by some of the newer overly complicated and unnecessarily computerized equipment. Any time there is a controller involved it slows down the repair process and makes much higher likelyhood for multiple visits and more diagnostic time for the tech. That being said dealer repair rates are absolutely insane.

This is to true my father in law is a tiger cat mechanic and the shop he works at gets like 5 dollars per mile travel charge then 200 just to show up with the truck then another 175 dollars a hour plus parts I run a cutter and skidder on a logging crew and the only way we have found around that is get new machines every 5000 hours and keep it in warranty but the problem with that recently is hell the dealer can’t keep the machines in to replace local machines every 5000 hours we placed a order for a new skidder over 2 years ago and we are still waiting on a skidder to be allocated to us by the dealer also the mills ain’t helping nothing we are losing mills and hitting quota in Georgia and it ain’t even summer yet

Another great video Thomas man I just want you to know that I’m still praying for you and I hope everything is going good with your back but when you was talking about the service department everybody knows what company you were talking about and I’m just gonna say it John Deere you wouldn’t believe the loggers in Southeast Louisiana and South west Mississippi that runs John Deere equipment but is trading them out every day. They’re going strictly to Tiger cat because of the service department down here we deal with B and G equipment and I know you know them, but I have seen Red take parts off of a brand new machine sitting in the parking lot and they didn’t have the part and had to order it and bring it and put it on the machine in the woods that was broke down just to get the logger back going. And in my book you cannot beat Tiger cat service department but anyway my friend y’all stay safe out there and keep the videos coming oh the 724 in my book Is the all around rubber tired Cutter that tiger cat makes like you said you can thin with it and you can clear-cut with it but anyway my friend we will see you on your next video

Thomas needs a desk job selling TC, but it would probably make him sick, no sawdust smell, no sounds of big machines, no mud, just a few of the many things that breathe life into a logger. Hope you have a great year. SUZIE Q

Awesome machine, congrats on the upgrade, any thoughts on maybe getting thinning head for it one day, the crew that cut a tract by us had 724g thinning head doing clear cut, but he said doing thinning or clear cut he loved thinning head on it. Name the beast ?

I’m not trying to be political but big business interests are ruining our nation. Small businesses are what has kept our nation going. I respect people like you for what you do each day and pray God will keep you and many other small business men and women going. Nice Tigercat wheeled feller buncher. I’ve always liked seeing those machines.

I told you😁. You can’t get any better of a rubber tire than a 724g in my own opinion. I’ve gotten to run cat. I’ve ran the 843L2 , and I always go back to the tigercat as my favorite machine.

We need every logging company in the US to shut down for one month. There would be a major come to Jesus in the wood industry. We are getting about the same to log here that we were 25 years ago.

The fiat platforms are the best tier 4 final platforms in the woods in my opinion. No EGR, no DPF, no variable geometry turbo none of the crap the other machines run. They accomplished tier 4 by strictly using SCR and like in your instance with your machine that can easily be turned off or deleted and boom your good to go for a long time. Tigercat for the win 💪🏻

Ill tell you another thing you’ll notice and may be an upside to thinning with a tower head is it tends to not let the smaller stems snap off while backing in the rows(more upper support for the young trees)

Over priced, over complicated computerized equip. that we are forced to purchase, along with shop repair costs are leading to more and more small loggers to give up. In my opinion this leads to more problems for small operators than the "environmental movement" Please keep using your platform to drive this message home..
