I've been searching for a lista of recomendations like this one for AGES. And I've read Legends & Lattes and It 100% feels like a shopping DnD sessions, which I love. Thanks a lot for the recomendations!🥰
I love dnd and with the release of spelljammer I started working on a campaign to master myself. Anyway if you like the kinda goofy but emotional feeling that you get from playing dnd you should definitely read Kings of the Wyld. That is the most dnd book I've ever read. Everything from the world to the creatures (there are even mentions of the owlbear) to especially the party, feels like is straight out of a tight group of friends game
Okay it's not fantasy but The Expanse is always the first series I think of. It's kind of cheating because I think it did start as some kind of RPG, but the thing I love about it is that there's a group of people (pilot, mechanic, engineer, captain etc) who somehow are always there any time something important is happening anywhere in the solar system. It makes no sense that these random people are invited to go on all these crazy missions and solve weird mysteries - but it makes perfect sense if it's a DnD game and they're the PCs! Also they're good books if you like hard-ish Sci fi. The physics of the space battles is serious business.
I’ve read the first book of the expanse! I enjoyed it but I really didn’t like Miller‘s POV, so half the book didn’t really work for me. However I really liked the rest of it so I’m going to continue on. I’m actually hoping to read the second one in the next couple months!
I love DnD as well (Also Hi just stumbled into your channel!), I was introduced to DnD through a gaming youtube channek back when I was in Highschool. I started a group with my friends, and then when I transfered to college away from them...it got me out of my shell with new friends! It has now grown to where I've been part of many, and have created/ ran my own two campagin ideas! I jsut recently met an online friend and she was interested and my group helped her make her first character and she got into the story so quickly and it's so much fun!
DnD novels... ehem... Dragonlance. The Dragonlance Chronicles (1984-1985) by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman [a trilogy]: - Dragons of Autumn Twilight - Dragons of Winter Night - Dragons of Spring Dawning These are based on a DnD campaign! ... Then, there are several novels going into the backstory of each of the characters. If you like wizards, you could start in the Dragonlance world with The Raistlin Chronicles: The Soulforge (1998) Brothers in Arms (1999)
I got into dnd almost exactly a year ago. It was about time honestly since I roleplayed online for years as a teenager. I started with Critical Role, then listened to Dungeons & Daddies podcast, now I’m a few episodes into The Adventure zone and watching Dimensions 20. Honestly love dnd so much, it’s such an escape. I hope someday I can actually play with others but my social anxiety makes that tricky haha. Also, all but one or two of these are on my want to read list already so maybe it’s finally about time I get to some of them 😂
I totally get the social anxiety aspect. It can be scary. But if you get a good, accepting group of people you trust, it can really help you open up in other aspects of your life as well. 🥰 I hope you like TAZ! It starts kind of slow but by the end I think you’ll love it.
Awww I love DnD and I loved the way you talked about it and about your DnD friends 🥰 Thank you for the lovely recommendations! Legends and Lattes has been in my radar for longtime, I will definitely pick it up!
This popped out just near to the new episode of 4-sided dive from critical role while I was watching it so this feels like destiny. I'm so glad you got to met dnd friend through a TAZ event! I live in a small town of Europe and I'm too busy with law school, so playing it's not an option for me at the moment. And I only have a couple nerd friends that now nothing about the game except for my rants. However, is a format and medium I love. Like you said, some of the best storytelling I've experience were dnd campaigns. So I am excited to live through it with your recommendations! Legends and Lattes has been at the top of my tbr for a while cause it gave me that dnd feeling and I heard Gideon the Ninth has lesbians necromancers?! But except for those and the Stormlight Archive, I have never heard of the other books and I'll probably put them all in my tbr. Thanks for the recs.
Love this video!! I've never played DnD, mainly because I just also have no one to play with. Glad you found your group, sounds like you are having a blast with it! I totally agree, Age of Myth is just sooooo good. I really want to reread that series. In fact, I want to reread all of the recs that you gave, because I'd consider them all favourites, haha. Guess that means I'd love DnD as well then, huh? 🤩
@@jordanreads I'm intrigued by The Adventure Zone podcast, so might deep my fingers in. Do they have some youtube videos with maps and/or sessions or lore videos?
@@kyrosv1289 no, not really. But that will make sense once you start listening. I will say, the first arc is all jokes and not as much substance because they hadn’t even planned for this to get big and were learning. But by the end of the campaign you’ll be a hot mess of emotions lol
@@kyrosv1289 of course! Also a heads up, they start with the lost mines of phandelver because, again, they didn’t realize this would become a whole thing. But by the second arc, they move onto all original content.
DND sounds like fun! I haven't ever played it but it sounds intriguing! I wouldn't mind getting into it someday. I've described the book Fate of the Fallen to people and a lot of them say it's like DND. Great rec video too!

A book I love that screams dnd vibes is So This is Ever After, would highly reccomend!!
I’ve never heard of it! I’ll check it out! Thank you 🥰

I love hearing dnd origin stories!! 🥰🥰 it’s such an amazing way to make friends!

Ah! I hope you love TAZ!
Gideon the ninth is about lesbian necromancers! It’s amazing!
I hope you enjoy some of these books 🥰
If you love dnd , The Wandering Inn is the dream campaign setting. I would love to play a campaign chill game!
Oh awesome! I’ll have to look into it!

Yes!!! If you’re ever able to find a group, definitely give it a shot!
Thank you for the video!
There are several that have piqued my interest, especially Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan and maybe The Adventure Zone.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy. Both good choices!

How about Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames? Both have been described as having that DnD feel to them
Yes! They both do have strong dnd vibes!

Hey this was an awesome idea. Also I miss our DND!!!!
Me tooooooo 🥲 hopefully our next one doesn’t get pushed again 😭
I love D&D! This is a great video idea. I’d say almost anything written by Drew Hayes has a D&D feel.
I’ll have to look into them! I’ve never heard of them!
Quag Keep.
