NOTE: There ARE SOME on card autos in this set. That is a great step in the right direction, but this just shows that Topps should strive to make ALL cards on card in the future. Thanks for watching!
Scottie- the checklist to me is just 💩 Most of the key rookies are pitchers. Outside of Matt McLain, all the key rookies just have rookie debut cards. I don't care about chasing inserts. I'll pass on this easily and instead use my MVP buybacks to buy more 23 Topps Chrome Hobby to stash. Also, the QC is awful. 22 Chrome Update was awful and they didn't fix it this year bc well monopolies don't care
Great break down Scottie. I agree, besides some cool inserts and the Debut patch Autos, which are impossible to hit, Chrome Update doesn't have much to offer. To be honest, I wish they would just delay regular Chrome a month to make sure you got the key rookies and do away with Chrome Update. That would make regular Chrome even better
On another note, I really enjoy these. Any thoughts on doing one for Topps Holiday? One of my favorite products of the year. Christmas themed parallels and not only a few of them and only a 200 card checklist which makes it affordable to put together. Until next time....
I'm driving home from the Pasadena front row card show last night back to Salt Lake and I stopped at a Target and saw some update chrome blasters. I had no idea they were 35.00. That's completely ridiculous. And usually it's cheaper at target. I don't even know what they are at Walmart but probably a little more. I grabbed some to buy and then noticed the price and I was like screw that. I'm so sick and tired of the inflated prices of crap like retail where you get two to three dollars worth of cards and your blaster.
For all the guys that say there are too many parallels that’s easy too say if your not the one that opened the product the hobby boxes are too expensive for a average person I would like to believe that if your going to spend at least 200 or more on a box that there’s a little more hits.
I've watched a lot of this get opened. I think they used the "rare" inserts as a cushion to overprint like crazy since people are chasing the debut patches. I do like that they have created THE card for each player's rookie card but o lord are these tough boxes to open as you said especially at $350 for a jumbo. There really isn't any new rookies to chase in this that weren't in the original Topps Chrome
I agree on the parallels and autos. But that debut patch is the perfect excuse to overprint the hell out of this which is why it isn't sold out on Topps yet, I swore regular chrome was sold out on first day. Its fun to open, but when the chase bounties are known to be ripped, it'll tank.
I have seen a couple on card autos pulled on Stryker Breaks product review videos. Not sure if there was a rhyme or reason to which ones. Seemed like it was some of the base autos (white borders).
They will make right on it.....happened to me a while back.....theres a batch number inside the box (black typing) They will ask for that. Defintely contact Topps though
The guy I PC, Andruw Monasterio, had his redemption debut patch auto pulled and is on ebay now. Disappointed that it's listed outside my price range. It's going to take a few years before the debut patch cards truly become relevant when we get superstar level rookies, like Elly next year and possibly Jackson Chourio and Holliday in next year's update.
You sure? If breakers didn't open the boxes, who would? How do you think singles hit the market? Be happy they do the dirty work that most of the community doesn't want to do. So short-sighted
Thank you so much, always appreciate your detailed analysis. I was on the fence and made the decision to wait and the what I wanted as a single and this video just confirmed I was leaning the right way. Will you have a Black & White video coming out? thoughts on that release?
Always love your content and honesty about products.. I opened a bunch of base Chrome this year and at a 220 base set it was fun... reasonable price wise and easy to put together sets with help from secondary markets... don't see the reason for ANOTHER 220 card set that just recycled players from base set
It’s a money grab horrifying set. The rookie debut cards are about as worthless as a rookie can get. Mass production and 500 million parallels. I would stay away and buy the singles.
Parallels have gotten out of hand. With this many parallels, we also need to push Topps to create new card numbers for each parallel as it gets harder and harder for me to keep them all straight when pulling them. They need one or two parallels and then a "color match" parallel that matches each team's jersey color. That's it.
I give it a B-. There's maybe 1 OK rookie true rookie card. Sticker autos except a few players. Zero chance at pulling a debut RPA. They put some very nice lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. - WW
DING DING DING, Junk Wax ERA Round TWO, "RIP"! I'm telling everyone right now Topps are starting to print way to many cards to satisfy not the average consumer but all of these breakers that we have in this day and age. What this means for the average consumer is millions and millions of the same base cards out there in the world. Now I am 44 years old have been collecting my whole life and most of my cards from the late 70s all the way through the mid to late 90s are pretty much worthless because of over printing because of the greed of all the card companies of the time, mainly Topps. Anytime you hear of these crazy print runs because of," Supply and Demand", is total BS! It's just out right GREED and from a collectors standpoint filling supply and demand does nothing but drive the market down, down, down and you would think that they would have learned this lesson 40 years ago when the hobby took off and they wanted to fill supply and demand. No because it is just out right GREED! But the saddest part about it is the collectors haven't seemed to learn anything as well. I haven't figured out if it's just lack of Education on their part or it's just plain Greed with them as well with these Giant case breaks that do nothing but drive the market down as well. A true collector to me would never be in on a case break and I laugh about this because I would never want to hand over a million dollar lottery ticket that I scratched because someone else gave me the dollar to scratch it. From a collectors standpoint and definitely an investments standpoint it makes absolutely no sense. I love this hobby from first of all being a collector and second of all an investment standpoint. I am telling everyone right now Topps printing millions and millions of the same base cards so breakers can Rip tons of product looking for that one big insert card this is killing the investment part of trading cards, Unless now you have stock in Topps. I am now done with buying any Topps products because only a fool would keep walking across a busy freeway after being hit by a car in the past. I suggest anyone who has money invested in these cards, Sell, Sell, Sell, before you lose everything in these new Topps products
Dang i actually love the new Parallels. Anything chrome and anything color is 😍. They did a great job with the color with year!! Definitely have to disagree
You guys are ducking trippin lol it’s always been a topps chrome 2 just like topps eventually becomes tops chrome within the year. The parallels are cool, who doesn’t like rainbows. Breakers have been inflating prices on ALLLLLLLL products so idk what you mean by that.
NOTE: There ARE SOME on card autos in this set. That is a great step in the right direction, but this just shows that Topps should strive to make ALL cards on card in the future. Thanks for watching!
Yes when u can buy archives and get 2 on card autos ... no excuse topps
The on card autos are overprints from standard topps chrome that they held back and put into update to boost interest.

Nice video like always.
Crazy the parallel increase over the years WOW

I’m really happy Bobby Millers auto is on card
saw post on reddit that the patches arent in packs?
I do like the celebracion inserts
Print runs are so high!
Thanks Scottie. You do great work and I appreciate the math and card breakdown.
It’s also weird that Nolan Jones is in this as he already had a Rockies base card and auto in regular chrome.
That trout diamond dominance is amazing and I need iy
88CU-2 Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels I pulled this yesterday
For all the guys that say there are too many parallels that’s easy too say if your not the one that opened the product the hobby boxes are too expensive for a average person I would like to believe that if your going to spend at least 200 or more on a box that there’s a little more hits.
$115 isnt cheap for a hobby box? my lcs has it at that
I've watched a lot of this get opened. I think they used the "rare" inserts as a cushion to overprint like crazy since people are chasing the debut patches. I opened a case and love this stuff, as well with the QC issues people speak about there was maybe 2 cards in my case that had roller marks
I give this product a D+. It’s only saving grace is the inserts and the debut patches.
I'm also confused why every card company thinks I want hot pink Lisa frank looking parallels.
LMAO.. Lisa Frank 😂...but excellent point nonetheless 😎
You know their next parallel gonna have the hot pink and a dolphin somewhere 😆
I agree on the parallels and autos. But that debut patch is the perfect excuse to overprint the hell out of this which is why it isn't sold out on Topps yet, I swore regular chrome was sold out on first day. Its fun to open, but when the chase bounties are known to be ripped, it'll tank.

I love how Topps is bringing back rare inserts, but they need to make them a lot scarcer, like print run less than 100 not 300+.
What should I do if I open a hobby box and there is no auto? Any advice....
You tell Topps and hopefully you kept the box in case they ask any questions
@@sp123 Or just don't buy any of that crap to begin with
They will make right on it.....happened to me a while back.....theres a batch number inside the box (black typing) They will ask for that. Defintely contact Topps though
They will not take care of you. They don't care. Seen too many of those no auto boxes.
How many games has Holliday played in the mlb?
I agree we've reached the new junk wax including autos
Why do players have rookie autos in chrome and then in update?
I can only buy singles. Breakers have ruined the hobby otherwise
You sure? If breakers didn't open the boxes, who would? How do you think singles hit the market? Be happy they do the dirty work that most of the community doesn't want to do. So short-sighted
Hi Scottie, thanks for the video. These are sharp looking cards.
Thank you so much, always appreciate your detailed analysis. I was on the fence and made the decision to wait and the what I wanted as a single and this video just confirmed I was leaning the right way. Will you have a Black & White video coming out? thoughts on that release?
Bought a blaster at Barnes and Noble, so, ya, it's mainstream now.
Alot of autos in a set usually = alotttt of pitcher autos
Always love your content and honesty about products.. I opened a bunch of base Chrome this year and at a 220 base set it was fun... reasonable price wise and easy to put together sets with help from secondary markets... don't see the reason for ANOTHER 220 card set that just recycled players from base set
Good review. There are some on card autos in addition to sticker autos for some reason.
It’s a money grab horrifying set. The rookie debut cards are about as worthless as a rookie can get. Mass production and 500 million parallels. I would stay away and buy the singles.
What if Topps baseball had a hobby side and a retail side.
Two completely separate entities/products. And give each the flavoring.
That's what the Costco release is for
Starting to look like Panini with all the parallels.
I have seen some on card autos from this years chrome stryker breaks pulled some

Nice review. I’ve watched a lot of rips of this product and decided to pass. Nice looking cards, but not worth it for me.
I give it a B-. There's maybe 1 OK rookie true rookie card. Sticker autos except a few players. Zero chance at pulling a debut RPA. They put some very nice lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. - WW
Str8 doo doo
FFS Topps, stop slipping in autos of middle relievers. Nobody wants that!
Cash grab central! The jumbo boxes are really good (even though it’s a bad product) but you may as well set your money on fire, than to buy hobby. 🤢

The product itself is trash
LOL gary gordon replying to everyone.....Topps must have shit in his cereal at some point.....@@garygordon3075
