Casio is slowly but surely getting better in balancing value and features. And the new Casiotones are the testament that they are really listening to their audience. (And they've might also been binge watching your videos Sir Jeremy 🤭🙌🏼) Thank you Sir for another great content. And yes, it would have been great if the Casiotone ct-s400 and lk-s 450 were offered with other colors options. (A white one would have made me drool. jk. 🤣✌🏼)
More important is that you can now easily BALANCE the levels of all your layered, split, rhythm AND recorded parts, just like a studio mixer. Also both the keyboard touch FEEL and RESPONSIVENESS is now very close to a weighted keyboard. Enjoy CASIO has always been on a corporate mission to make quality music available to everyone. They innovate and force the others to keep up.
Hello Jeremy You are really a pro! Sharing your keyboard expertise saves time testing the new products and you really Know your stuff! Thank you for your precious work!
More important is that you can now easily BALANCE the levels of all your layered, split, rhythm AND recorded parts, just like a studio mixer. Also both the keyboard touch FEEL and RESPONSIVENESS is now very close to a weighted keyboard. Enjoy
Sounds and rhythms are exactly the same. What the CT-S400 has is: a much better, readable LCD screen; the ability to balance the volume of the rhythm, the Main, the Dual and the Split voices, as well as to adjust the voices in the stereo space (panning function); a more capable MIDI recorder with the possibility to delete, copy and paste tracks (useful for onboard song arranging); Bluetooth MIDI and audio (with an optional Bluetooth dongle that you’ll have to buy separately). So basically, if you like the tones and rhythms of the CT-X700/800 but wish greater portability and some more advanced functions, the CT-S400 is for you. Don’t go for the LK450 though, which has no pitchbend wheel and only one reg memory (a shame with so much functions onboard). Hope this helps.
@@HubertEtAlice you seem a little knowledgeable about keyboards , I havent ever played any instrument this is the first time i am thinking to buy a new keyboard .A humble request for you , can you please explain to me the difference between cts1 and cts400 also, i would obviously like to buy a keyboard with more features as i plan to keep that keyboard for many years but also think that cts400 will be at the peak of my budget, but the interested thing i noticed was that in all the review that i have seen every reviewer is saying cts1 is absolutely amazing with amazing sounds and is something really special so does that mean it has better sounds than cts400, i also noticed that when in the casio official launch they were focussing more on how amazing casio cts1 is and its fantastic but they were not emphasising that much on cts400, does the casio cts400 have the pad feature which is in cts1, and also is it necessary to buy bluetoott dongle for using midi cant we just connect it manually also? Pleae help me out, i would really be greatful :)
@@HubertEtAlice Hi! Do you ever listen to the new CS-1 in person or just TH-cam videos like me? My question is about the sound quality in comparison with the CT-S400, is this really so different? Thanks!
@@JeremySee only thing I was a little disappointed in was no harp or french horn. But overall, great piano. If you see the harp or french horn on it please let me know. thank you.
Hi jeremy! But the CT-X 700/800 are not exactly the same specs, because the absence of volume balance between parts in a layer! Am I wrong or this situation was corrected by firmware in the old models?
It's amazing to see an LK keyboard with the AiX engine coming to North America, and pretty much everywhere else. I was so disappointed that we never had a key-lighting keyboard in the CT-X range. Japan got all of those and yet we had to suffer through the outdated AHL engine, which a lot of fans (inclusing me as well) didn't like, and the fact that the LK-280 has been the latest more-advanced key-lighting keyboard for a long time is just sad, but now the wait is _finally_ over. THANK YOU CASIO!
That's how things in Japan are. Many tech are for JDM (Japanese Domestic Market). I had to import my JDM cars from Japan as they are not available outside of Japan too. 😂
I’m sure you’ll get to this in your comparison video, but in your review of the cts1 you mentioned the nice detail of the felt strip at the base of the keys- I’m wondering if the cts400 has this detail too? Thanks!
I'm looking forward to saving up to buying a Casiotone LK-S450 in the future. Stuff like this is what I need. (Btw, on my other comment, I made a small typo and said "inclusing" instead of "including".)
Dear Jeremy, thank you so much for this review! Yesterday I watched your review of other models and doubted because I wanted to choose the Casio CT-S 400. But I need a training mode. Today I saw this review. And I made my choice. This is the Casio LK-S 450! You are absolutely right that such interesting instruments need better polyphony. I have never seen such good reviews as yours in Russian. I will advertise your TH-cam channel on our social networks. Subtitles help you understand everything you say, and it's amazing! From Russia with love!
Lighting keys are killer feature, you'll enjoy it tremendously if you give it just a little time to get accustomed to it. And when you upload the midi files of the songs you want to learn, available all over the internet, it's just something you can't do without after you try it.
@@JeremySee The LK-S450 lacks the arpeggiator/auto-harmonizer. very important point he missed out. its critical in my opinion. there several differences like chord mode thats why company send two different manual for s450 and s400.
Hey there! I am looking to FINALLY jump in and begin learning piano. I figured a keyboard was a good place to start being that it won't take up alot of room. Specifically I am looking at a Casio as I like the idea of the light up keys that wait for your input to "teach" you the songs. My question is this: I can get either the LK s250 or the LK s450 "for free" from work (a points system that you earn). What is the biggest difference between the two? I mostly will be using it with headphones plugged in so I am not bothering my family at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Jeremy....Been waiting for your review, and it was well worth the wait! As you pointed out, Casio makes it difficult to choose with feature variants. Seems we can never get it all. Would have really liked to have seen Audio via USB, I'm sure Casio will get there in the near future. None the less, these boards sound killer good. The AIX Chip is fantastic. I play an old Yamaha P80, the key action is great, but the tones leave a lot to be desired. Though I'll probably replace the Yamaha with a Roland FP-60X, I will absolutely pick up the CT-S400, as soon as it becomes available here in the USA. It just seems like so much fun, and with easy portability, great for backyard playing when I put down the guitar. Thanks so much for your unbiased reviews, terrific job as always! PS...Do you have any recommendations for small affordable Keyboard Amps. I'm curious about Peavy and Behringer. I've had Roland Amps in the past.
I was curious what the Casio CT-S400 looked from the underside. I wanted to see if had rubber feet, pads, or something. I want to get a table top stand, but don't want the Keyboard sliding all over the place. I've grown to really dislike X-Stands. I want a quick setup for playing outside in the backyard. When you showed the location for the Guitar Straps, I could see there are rubber feet, which is great. I plan on pre-ordering one of these next week, and hope that Yamaha doesn't come out with a Killer PSR-E473, the next day. You know how that goes! LOL!!
Hi, thanks for this video.. I purchased this keyboard and a separate stand...I can't see where to screw in the straps? Does it have holes to use for the straps
What do you think of the Yamaha reface series (like the DX) or the Roland JD XI? The JD XI has a drum machine, sequencer, metronome, 3 keyboards, a midi usb interface and a audio interface plus vocoder. Seems like a great value.
Both of these are for professionals or people specifically looking for synths or workstations. This channel mostly focuses on arrangers and beginner gear. Still, would be interested in hearing his thoughts about it.
In your opinion, are the piano sounds (acoustic and electric) of the CT-S400 at the same quality level of the CT-S1? I would like to know your personal (and professional) opinion about that.
Hi Jeremy very nice demonstration I watched you while having breakfast 🥞 🍳 I wonder how you managed to get these keyboards as there aren’t any demonstration videos from Casio themselves, on the Casio forum Mike Martin said they were due in June... The CT-S400 seems like a more portable version of the CT-X800 with some severe flaws amended, on top of which the addition of a mixer feature, it was about time! I don’t agree with you about rhythms of other brands being better. I positively love the rhythms of the CT-X range and of the new CT-S400 and LK450. I know about several people who bought a CT-X3000 despite its cumbersome user interface just for its rhythms and the ability to edit them. What I have found with the CT-X800, though, is that you have to use the rhythm controller quite differently than on Yamaha E series, for instance. On the Yamaha’s, the fills will be triggered automatically when you go from variation A to variation B, whereas on the Casio’s you have to trigger the fills by yourself. This means that if you forget (or don’t want) to push the fill-in button before you switch to a different rhythm variation, the transition won’t be smooth. But if you use the fills-in correctly, I personally find the result to be better than on the Yamaha’s. Another problem with Yamaha is that the same old styles have been around for the last fifteen years or so. Thoroughly boring. One should not compare the CT-S1 with the CT-S400 IMHO. The sound quality is best on the CT-S1, which is not an arranger keyboard but rather a highly portable, fun little keyboard with great sounds. Professional musicians can envisage the CT-S1 as a second keyboard, for gigging on the beach or practising in a hotel room for instance. Although it has more functionalities, no professional musician in his own right would envisage to use a CT-S400 IMHO. On the other hand, the CT-S400 is probably the perfect home keyboard for beginners or people who simply want to get creative and have fun making music. I also don’t agree with you about the onboard MIDI recorder. I find it quite useful and use it for a number of compositions and arrangements on the CT-X800. Not everybody wishes to be glued on a laptop while playing keyboard. It would be great, if you can, to make a comparison video between the CT-X700/800, the CT-S400 and the PSR E373. In particular, what do you think of the keybed of the CT-S400 as compared with that of the CT-X700/800? I also wonder if you would rather recommend the CT-S400 or the PSR E373 to your students as a learning board. Have a nice Sunday with your family 😎🌈
I kinda like the idea of doing a side-by-side with those three models too. But I use my Yamaha EW-310 much more than the CT-X800 now. The sounds are superior with the ones I use the most.
I have a question, I have looked the model casio ctk-3500, what are your thoughts about this one(I'm a beginner and I don't want to spend more than 200)
Thanks, Jeremy. I would really like to see a video about "why someone should buy a CT-S1 or a CT-S400." I'm not really needing the rhythms and such, but are there some reasons to get the S1 over the S400, otherwise? Thanks!
I really Suggest you don't because of it's inferior Synth Action, it's limited amount of Velocity Curves and it's poor Amplification System and it's not 88 keys I believe I suggest you wait a little longer, save up some more money and get the Yamaha P45B instead It's really worth the money
I've likely watched nearly every video you've posted on the Casio's and Yamahas in the $100 - $400 range. AM hoping to learn piano, but also am interested in production/recording/editing with NO previous experience at all. I love that the Yamaha PSR E373 and EZ300 have usb midi that serves as internal audio interface, and the rec n share app for quality vid/audio recording n sharing on the fly, but I am still torn. I have a TINY apartment and the casios are more compact for inside setup/storage. I also have heard amazing things about the Casio CS T1, especially the sound and keyboard bed quality, but it seems to be so minimalist offering no opportunity to dip feet into creating/production. I AM impressed by. the EZ300 lighted keys, but also think the Casio LK S450 could give me the compact size, nice matte keyboard feel you mention (though NOT as nice 'almost semi weighted feel' of CS T1.... THen, there's the48 vs 64 polyphony (which I don't even know if I'll miss or need at my current level) and the pitch wheel only on the casio ct s400.... Finally, I have seen hints on line merchants that the PSR 373 may be discontinued? Are you aware of any interesting new releases on deck for either of these brands, in the same categories and price points? Finally, do you think the Casio Ct S400 without the lit keys has sufficient on board lesson features? Does it even matter if it's on board, since I can use chordana or other apps, especially easily on the Casio with the optional bluetooth adaptor. Ugggh... I am SO confused. Mostly, I want to be able to learn on a beautiful sounding keyboard that doesn't feel cheap, that has some mixing, editing, recording features so I can have a 'jam session' with my brother, with me playing acoustic/NON electric guitar, him playing keyboard and each of us singing, then do some recording and tweaking of it all either w Yamaha's built in midi functionality and garage band, or adding an audio interface like Focusrite, or other. LOVE your reviews...Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again
For learning to play piano, I find Casio CT-S500 best. For jamming, making beats and having fun all night until 5 am and making synth sounds I prefer Roland JD-Xi. I have both and love both. Two great devices, both very inspiring and fun. But if you want only one keyboard, try Roland Juno DS (better synth engine, but simple sequencer) or Korg EK50 (simpler sound, but arranger features).
Usually because is has a synthesizer style, the keys make less noise... Do you think that the noise yoy speak is because of the matte finish, or does the noise not bother you so much ?
I have a question can I split up the tones to two like the Casio ct x700? and can I connect my phone on the keyboard to play the songs from my phone? Thank you your reviews are great
There's are major differences between the two. The LK-S250 uses the outdated AHL sound chip and offers 400 tones, 77 rhythms, and 60 built-in tunes, plus Dance Music mode. However, the LK-S450 uses the newer AiX sound chip, and it offers 600 tones, 200 rhythms, and 160 built-in tunes, plus optional Bluetooth, and you can do MIDI file playback on a USB Flash Drive and also 200 user songs and multitrack recording. Not to mention that the LK-S250 can light up to 4 keys at a time and the LK-S450 can light up to 10.
Thank you so for your review videos. Because your videos it helped to pick the right keyboard for me. The Yamaha PSR- E463. I wanted a keyboard that I could learn and practice music theory and be used as a MIDI controller starting music production. 😁✌
Hi Jeremy, I know you posted videos of keyboard recommendations before. But I'm still not sure which one fits me the best. I plan to play jazz fusion. Can you please tell me which one would work the best?
Thank you for this video Jeremy! I am looking to get my 1st keyboard and start learning how to play. I looked these up and it seems you can only preorder them for now. What other keyboards from other brands are on the same level as these and around the same price range?
Make a petition. Get a list of people interested, like at least 500 friends, relatives and keyboard fans to let Casio know there is interest, and maybe it can happen. If you have an official Casio dealer there, contact them.

Hey Jeremy, if you still have the cts400, can you try storing rhythm variations in the registration memories to see if that works. Right now it only works on the ctx3000 and ctx5000 models, thanks!
Mister! I want to express my thoughts about this tool. I would like to have such a keyboard instrument in my house as a sound station to use as a midi keyboard, well, as a station where you can record parts of instruments in the program via an audio cable.
You should remind everyone in choosing keyboard carefully .because I myself feel lack of keys in my 61 key yamaha psr e 363 keyboard(it's an excellent keyboardforbeginners) after practicing for 6 months. In my keyboard I only use piano tone and when I want to play some songs I feel like I should have brought 81 key with good piano tone instead.
Hey Jeremy, Iam looking for something portable as Casio CT-s300, with the lesson mode, (redlighted keys) also bluetooth and possibility to save settings different settings I can easily switch between playing a song or during a song. Possibility to split keyboard for at least two instruments also. I didn't get all the differences between S400 and S450, cause i was thinking there will be some summary of it, (I havent taken notes) One more factor is important for me possibility to change pitch from 440 to 444 or 432, and there is a question, if I do so. All the salsa and other tunes that are being saved inside the memory will they transpose to 444 or other frequency I choose or is it always 440. I must say I really like the sound of the Medeli m331 and for vibing purposes, but the lesson mode in here and bluetooth option seems to be quite interesting as well. Also I don't know if the sound of this casiotone is driving me more than Casio S300 and Medeli m331. Help x)

Have fun!
Thank you so much ! Waited so long 😅
This is a great review of the CT-S400, however, will you make a video playing it's sounds and rythms and comparing it to the PSR-E373?
Agree!
Yes please do a comparison between e373 vs ctx vs cts400. Thanks.
And it would be great to have a triple comparison, add the CT-X-700 too.

I'm excited for you!
Excelent. Now we need a video with the styles.
Thank you Jeremy...a lot of very useful information there...... Stay Safe.
I preordered mine only hours after Casio's press release. Great review Jeremy.

The Ct-S400 volume knob looks like the super knob from the montage
does this mean that cts400 and lk 450 only have portability over the ctx700? Otherwise are they almost same in sound quality and features?
So essentially, the cts400 is an upgraded ctx800
Thanks!

Can't decide Casio LK-S450 vs Yamaha EZ300:
Anyone has any advice?
Hi jeremy! But the CT-X 700/800 are not exactly the same specs, because the absence of volume balance between parts in a layer! Am I wrong or this situation was corrected by firmware in the old models?
Thank you Jeremy, now I know what I will get as soon as it becomes available.
Funny, I recently found yellowed Casio MA-100 in the corner.
@@JeremySee Think I'll have to fly over to Japan just to try their JDM rice :)
Is a lighted keyboard worthwhile or just a gimmick? Please explain
Completely torn between the CT-S1 and CT-S400.
Me too. 🥺
Me three :c
What did you end up going with?
I just bought this, because of the pitch bend and other features the other misses
Thank you for your kindness. 😍
Been waiting :)
Thanks for the amazing review. Could you do a demo of the hapsichord sound??
Thanks Jeremy for another great tutorial 👍
Nice review thanks jeremy❤️❤️❤️
Hey there! I am looking to FINALLY jump in and begin learning piano. I figured a keyboard was a good place to start being that it won't take up alot of room. Specifically I am looking at a Casio as I like the idea of the light up keys that wait for your input to "teach" you the songs. My question is this:
I can get either the LK s250 or the LK s450 "for free" from work (a points system that you earn).
I m also going for CT s400 !!
LOL!!
There are indeed rubber feet! 🐾
Jeremy is the LK-S450 and CT-S400 is same Sound quality and Same key action?
Hi! Can u make a comparison video with this model and CT-S1? Thabk you!
Hi, thanks for this video.. I purchased this keyboard and a separate stand...I can't see where to screw in the straps? Does it have holes to use for the straps
Did casio ct s400 have octave shift? Great video!!! 😀
Which Keyboard is better for beginners, the Yamaha EZ300 or the Casio LK-s450? I need to make a decision soon as a gift.
'
Hopefully has the comparison video on those soon.
LK-s450 with illuminated keys or cdp-s110 with some piano roll app, for beginners?
Sound better on Casiotone cts1 or cts400 lks450?
Does it have Indian instrument tones? I'm especially interested in knowing if it has Harmonium tones
They both have the same Aix sound chip, I think, so the sound quality sound be similar if not the same.
@@KendallKD But is possible that S1 uses bigger samples because the less amount of tones in the internal memory!
Does the lks450 have the arpeggiator and harmonies or not I don’t see in the Manuel
Hi Jeremy very nice demonstration I watched you while having breakfast 🥞 🍳
I wonder how you managed to get these keyboards as there aren’t any demonstration videos from Casio themselves, on the Casio forum Mike Martin said they were due in June...
Hope my face didn't ruin your appetite. 😉 Comparison videos are coming up soon.
Jeremy See No it made me smile 😉 Looking forward to the next videos 👍
Looking forward to the CT-X700/800 vs CT-S400 vs PSR E373 comparison. I plan on getting one after this lockdown ends. :)
I kinda like the idea of doing a side-by-side with those three models too. But I use my Yamaha EW-310 much more than the CT-X800 now. The sounds are superior with the ones I use the most.
Hi Jeremy, I love your videos! I just sent back the Yamaha psr e 473.
I'm wondering what is comparable? I'm thinking about this Casio lk s450
Thanks!
Eyyy Jeremy! Can you make a review about the Yamaha Piaggero np12?? Because I'm planning to buy this cheap digital piano.
I really Suggest you don't because of it's inferior Synth Action, it's limited amount of Velocity Curves and it's poor Amplification System and it's not 88 keys I believe
I suggest you wait a little longer, save up some more money and get the Yamaha P45B instead
It's really worth the money
Which is better, CTX3000 or CT S400?
Usually because is has a synthesizer style, the keys make less noise...
Do you think that the noise yoy speak is because of the matte finish, or does the noise not bother you so much ?

what the difference between the lk-s250 and the lk-s450 ? it's is only on the numbe of avalaible rythm/song and tone ?

I didn't get all the differences between S400 and S450, cause i was thinking there will be some summary of it, (I havent taken notes)
One more factor is important for me possibility to change pitch from 440 to 444 or 432, and there is a question, if I do so.
