I have learned more from your channel than any other aquarist’s channel. It’s so rare to hear someone’s true experience and not a fully curated one. Simply put, Thank you so much.
Beautiful photos of the fish family. When vacuuming with an airline tube I find it helpful to attach a chopstick or long tweezers to the end of the tube with a rubber band....really assists with being able to aim and spot clean very precisely and avoid fry. Thanks for doing your best with them, they love having that beautiful tank. I am glad you added stem plants, I think the fish will like a little forest area as well.
Well worth the sacrifice for not the best looking aquascape in favour of those precious little fish. Good luck with the rest of journey and enjoy the evolution. Love it! 😍

With hang on filter that moves the water at surface I don't think floating plants will work that nice. Maybe something bigger that will not be pushing down all the time...
People oggling at his German blue ram fries, here I am, however at the edge of my sofa thinking... wow. What an uphill battle this must be. Looks great, always a nice experience to have fry, to avoid the alge caused by baby food you could try some Amano shrimp, or at least somewhat bigger shrimp that won't get eaten by your fish. They won't harm the fry or even eggs but eat all the waste that leads to alge, choose the shrimp according to your water parameters. Works for me, they even clean the eggs from fungus, I have Rainbowfish, so I take the parents out after laying eggs, that's a big difference with your fish.
The problem is where to get those big shrimps... Any Amano shrimp with the size of any neocaridina in adult size will be eaten. I need to see if I can get some Amanos in big size.
Same challenge I face in some of my tanks - maintaining a scape versus making sure not to disturb the rams and fry when they are breeding - not easy! They're wonderful fish and you have extremely nice examples. Add a few Nerite snails to maybe help with the algae?
@@FAAOAquascaping True, I mean just for general algae help. I've also avoided shrimp so far because of big water changes and fear the fry will get eaten :/ Here's a good breeder of rams out of interest: facebook.com/The-Ram-Tank-304342836278714/posts/
Parabens Filipe e espero que consiga criar os filhotes. É também um dos meus peixes favoritos e neste momento tenho vários, não só German Blues, mas também azuis metalicos e gold. Abraço
Beautiful tank and fish! I want to try German blues one day to see if they breed! I get the ocd thing cause my amano shrimp are driving me nuts putting the soil in my sand constantly! No matter how I try to block the soil with rocks! It’s like they pick it up and over the seiryu stone and drop it on the sand haha great video!
Filipe Oliveira yeah I wish I would of done the filter floss before I put the soil but I was in a rush, first mistake rushing. It is my first scape and I definitely learned! I do love how they keep the tank clean of algae. Was thinking of swapping them out for cherry shrimp but not sure how they would do with my betta or if they would do the same thing with the soil? The betta and amanos seem to get along believe it or not. Thanks for the response and for making good informative videos!
Let's hope! So far everything goes well but some already said that parents will eaten them after 3rd week... Well I don't intend to take them out. I will let nature do its job. Fingers crossed

Your rams are much better parents than mine. I bought 4 rams last Friday. 2 of my rams paired, dug a pit in the gravel and layed eggs. Then the next day the eggs were gone and the male was angry at the female he originally paired with. Fast forward a few days and the male has now paired with the gold ram female, maybe they will have better luck spawning.
@@FAAOAquascaping Yup. it's early days. I find it a bit odd that they are paired for 3 days then the male is very agressive to his partner the 4th day. But yeah you're right they are young and inexperienced. I think I heard you should remove the fry from the parents when they are 3 weeks old before the parents start spawning again or they will see them as a threat / start eating them.
A new or different environment triggers breeding behavior and spawning for nearly all Cichlids species. Another huge trigger is temperature drop. In their natural habitat, they often start spawning in the rainy season. It is because the fresh and well Oxigen rich water coming down from the mountains are creating ideal conditions to raise their offspring. We have to learn it, but this information or knowledge is encoded in those fish.
Hey Filipe, im wondering why not many aquascaper use floating plants in the first phases of the tank. just to slow everything a bit down, until the tank is stable :) Would love to hear your opinion on floaters ;D Cheers from Germany!
Hey Filipe, I'm down to adding my last centerpiece fish in my tank. Highly considering GBRs. I have a 20g with 7.3ph dropping to 6.3 during co2 injection. This is consistent. Water temperature at 23.5. I know GBRs like higher temperatures, but do you know how they'll do at 23-24 degrees? I don't really want to increase my temp since it helps for algae. Also how many GBRs would you recommend for my size tank, either 1 male 1 female? OR 1 male 2 females? Thanks!
Hi Felipe, try to put to the filter Seachem Renew, it's working like activite carbon but not so aggressive. It will help you with DOC/COD and not only.
@@FAAOAquascaping would be able to explain what is the reason you do not like to use activated carbon on the new setup's? In the ADA gallery, apparently they use it all the time. Even on matured thanks.
I don't see any reason to use carbon on my tanks when I don't have any issues with the water quality, neither yellowish coloration or any kind of cloudiness. Some people complain about some yellowish tint on the first months when using amazonia, maybe this is why they advise the use of it? I'm not so experienced with ADA stuff, maybe will absorb something released by their products?!? Most important is a good biological filter Media, others things you can use but I don't see any benefits in using carbon in a tank besides remove toxic elements from any treatment.
@@FAAOAquascaping thank you for your time and answer. Last week I have setup new Scape that's why was asking. Hope most fry will survive and I have to admit, I love this fish. Never had the German blue, but had in the past regular "version" of this species.

What temperature did your rams have fry? All breeders are telling me the German blues need at least 27-28 C to grow biggest and live longest and healthiest. Your look great though and I’m guessing your tanks are closer to 24 for the plants which is what I have. Thanks! Love your videos Filipe!
Filipe Oliveira okay, thanks! I’ll just bump up a degree when I get them and all plants should stay okay at that temp. Right? Just finished the video and couldn’t tell because I heard you say 27.5 by accident, but you still wanted higher temp to speed up cycle.

They seem eager to be successful parents and you are committed to breeding successfully so I know this group of kids are going to survive and grow strong 🤞I’m sure they are feeling way better having a way calmer tank they can breed in and feel more chill.

Thanks for the advise but I don't have any other place to put them... If that happens, they need to try again.. And again... And when I'm feed up with this I will vacuum all and put in some small tank. But for the moment I don't have.. Neither space to put another tank.

Os peixinhos crescem bastante rápido.
Boa sorte :)
Mas se são pastilhas como vão eles comer? Sempre me indicaram esta comida por ser muito fina. A não ser que a sua se desfaça na água e eles consigam comer.
As pastilhas dissolvem e ficam numa espécie de pó (partículas)
As crias devoram essas partículas
É só deixar cair uma parte da pastilha na zona onde está o cardume e a pastilha dissolve-se
Boa sorte 😉
