Dev did a great job with what he had and the circumstances that surrounded the film. It was a creative approach and I enjoyed all the risks he took with this film. Again, Thank You Jordan Peele for saving the film! And Thank You Dev Patel for being original and a risk taker!
I’m sorry it was boring and took too long for the action. Like you said the action was just in the beginning and the end. I ended up falling asleep. It was way too long too. As an action film it didn’t meet my expectations. I will give it a second watch and update. Update: watched the movie again and I take back everything I said. The movie was wonderfully done. I was tripping I think I was just tired from work. I definitely recommend watching in theatres and I’m glad Jordan Peele produced the project. Patel is a great actor.
I haven’t watched this and probably won’t ever but I’m just checking the comments, respect for actually giving it a second watch and giving an update, most people won’t do that😂
I liked this movie but it very much was marketed deceptively. So much so, that I may owe an apology to a co-worker on Monday for recommending this to her as an action/revenge film, though I likened it to Taken rather than Wick.
Definitely recommend, the high points more than justify spending the movie ticket money. Movie was so great I’m taking a different group of people to watch it.
I watched the movie and I thought it was really good to be honest. I liked the fact that his actions in the 1st Act effecting the rest of his character because his actions got him to that point where he has to grow and change in the 2nd Act to see what's more to fight for and that really got me interested for the 3rd Act when everything comes down to that fight scene. So that's why I really liked it. Sure it has shaky cam and it makes it hard to see things going on, but the story for me really held this together for me.
Monkey Man wow what a film, start to finish good acting, the set-pieces were stunning, and the choreography was great. 10/10 for a Dev Patel directorial debut and glad that Jordan Peele suggested a theatrical release and not a streaming platform as I can't stop thinking about this film and want to see it again
Monkey Man was incredible for a directorial debut. I completely agree with you in terms of pacing, but there were definitely very powerful moments sprinkled throughout the slow parts
I liked the middle part of the movie , how he got knocked down and had to pick him self up with help of others and get stronger and learn. I loved that happening in the middle of the film. It made the end hit harder for me. But I can see how others might not love that choice .
I love the Mid part where the movie explored Indian culture and a story about Lord Hanuman and also showcased the Hizra community. I love the movie and all the parts well connected. For a low budget movie it is Masterclass.
Saw this movie yesterday and I thought it was very good, the “shacky” camera a lot of people are complaining about wasn’t really a problem for me so I really like the movie, would probably give it 8/10
I’m still worried that you are not going live ( one you already have Three vids out, two your in the middle of Moving, and three you don’t have the Set, (not quite sure about the third one but still.
I just saw this and I loved it. The main character, the story just worked for me. I also liked what Dev Patel did with his direction. The music was great, camera shots I actually liked alot . There was a few things he did with some camera shots and decisions I didn't love. But overall I though it was amazing fun kick ass movie .
I love ur videos and like that u always stay neutral when a movie has some behind the scenes drama, but did u have to say an old white couple walked out, couldn't u just say an old couple walked out. No need to bring race into it
Monkey man 2 please because now after watching I'm not going to live in fear . It's time to remember who I am . I will show those who betrayed me will regret everything
Movie wasn’t what I expected but it was so much more that what I did! It surprised me in a good way. I do think his story got dragged on too much at random times but I absolutely loved it overall
I gotta give it to Dev on this. If you watch his interview you could see his dedication and passion in making this. And the way he want to infuse this with his Indian culture it’s just admirable. The fight scene is really good. Overall It’s a good movie for his directorial debut 👍
when i watched the movie i had no clue what it was about i just read the description on peacock and tested it out it seemed like John Wick mixed with Karate Kid
yay Dev Patel Indian Slumdog Trilogy 1. SLumdog Millionaire 2. Lion 3. Monkey Man Great Dev is potraying Same thing over and over - thanks americans for seeing this movie. Just dont go away Dev will come back in another decade to make a movie on indian poverty and slums.
The fact that Netflix was going to sh*t can this film without the public even knowing it existed, yet they excitedly (and tone-deafly) present the Good Times "reboot" excitedly should really tell people that this is a streaming platform that's run by people who have no idea what to do with cinema. And I understand that there will be a large group of people, especially here in America, who don't jive with seeing the hardships of different cultures (even though they have no problem having their own culture bleed through every other movie possible) but if that's the case, then just as I say about my own personal writing..."It wasn't made for you." And I applaud Jordan Peel for putting his name and money behind making sure this movie was seen by those that it will speak to the most. Why, Netflix, would you invest in a film that looks this interesting from a director who has a fire in his belly for it just to throw it in a closet because...what...you got cold feet? You wanted to make sure that it never saw the light of day because you didn't like its message? Why not just give it a chance to find its audience and grow instead of just throwing away money and keeping a promising young director held back? I HATE Netflix and its practices. I'm excited to see this and (if I enjoy it half as much as I think I might) I hope it finds its way to a home release. I think that I'll enjoy having this on in my personal collection.
Unfortunately, in these highly divisive times, entertainment companies don't have it easy trying to please everyone. They took a lot of heat the last couple of years from the far-right for being "too woke", so they probably didn't want to keep aggravating that specific crowd. I'm glad Jordan and Dev had the baIIs to make and release this movie even knowing that this group of people would raise their fists at the screen. And Netflix saves face, in a way.

Just watch the movie and the ending hits hard 😢
Waiting for that first omen review cause I’m shocked at how good it was.
Can't say I'm sold on this film, will wait till it comes to streaming service.
You will regret that, watch karsten monkey man review, and it might chance your mind, he goes more in depth without any spoilers
You need to have the theatre experience

I thoroughly enjoyed the Monkey Man. Dev Petal and Jordan Peele make an interesting duo. ❤❤❤❤
Imma watch this movie tonight, I'll leave an update later to show my reaction. Hopefully it's good.
Where does that red lights inside joke come from? He does it a lot but where did it start?

I heard the actor broke one of his arms while shooting and had to redo them all using only one hand
Netflix being scared away from a movie for that reason, is rather funny with they’re history of changing stuff lmao
Dev patel should direct a Bollywood film as well
I feel like whenever someone does that it’s very narcissistic.
Is this your new setup
Temporarily yes
I can’t wait to see this Jordan pelee movie /srs//gen
Shakey cam commentary lacks the fact that he had to use phones and go pro filming to save $$$
