OK--saw the credit at the end, re. the company. Wanted to also say, I really like the four suitors in this. They and their costumes are very elegant, and somehow are more pleasing than is often the case in this piece. Thanks so much for making this available.
So musical - and a great interpretation. She really uses her technique to convey Aurora's character with every single movement. There is no circus - the wow effect comes through the sheer beauty of the performance. The choreography truly serves a purpose and is not just something to outdo another ballerina! This is theater!
thin but very strong at 45 yrs...she gets thru it better than some of todays ballerinas who cannot even balance sadly..not to speak of their lack of musicality.cheers P
Which company is this? Royal Winnipeg? Sounds like they're substituting piano for harp (though the sound quality makes it difficult to be sure). Ms. Hart is one of my favorite ballerinas, & was a role model, starting as late as she did, and dancing as long as she did. At moments here, we see what I think of as her 'tissue paper pointe shoes,' which weren't always for the best, but I loved her anyway. Glad to see her super-talented student, Alys Shee doing so well.
Oh how I wish I could have seen her dance with some strength. What a loss it is to see a ballerina with spectacular talent waste away like this. She can hardly hold herself up here. And WHAT IS WITH HER POINTE SHOES?? Why are they always baggy and collapsing under next to no weight? Seriously, the world has not seen what she could have done if she were able to eat a sandwich.
@academyballet she struggled with anorexia in her youth.. i guess it's something that really stays with you even after you're medically deemed healthy again. :S.
Ballerina LOL, she likes them like that. She doesn't think a shoe is ready for performance until it has been worn for like 6 years. They are little more than rags.
Evelyn Hart was the most beautiful prima ballerina that I have ever seen! LOVED her!
I am going to see the National Ballet of Canada tomorrow afternoon and Ms. Hart is appearing in the ballet Cinderella.
A very wonderfull artistes just so good I was very lucky to see her in London. she was just fabuleux.Edward Arckless
Thank you for sharing. I really love this video so much. She's so awesome, and the audience knows her technique very much. 😍
She looks like she is marking it
She wasn't a great jumper but everything else is perfect.
I am surprised she made it through this piece! She is so thin and weak, and Rose Adagio is hard!

I love Evelyn Hart but this is a very disappointing clip. She really looks like she's marking it. And her shoes make it even more painful to watch.

@bolshoiboy8 i agree. if you are talking about Alys Shee. she is amazing.
Please tell me this was a performance at a nursing home for the visually impaired... surely! Karma truly is rich...
Are you anything?

How old was she when this was recorded?
she was 45yo
I didn't like....
Only such a skilled ballerina could balance in such awful pointe shoes

I wonder if she wore Freeds, which are much softer than the other brands.
@@pricla777 No she did not
Her pointe shoes are awfull - they are not only dead they look like zombies
Please forgive me for saying, but I don't like her arms and hands. And worse, her students are exactly copies of her, incluing and mostly, Ally.
she looks very weak :S
Terrible. They shouldn't have let her perform like that. Sad, really.
