- Amid mounting pressure from the United States, the Palestinian Authority is shaking up its leadership.
President Mahmoud Abbas has named his financial adviser as the new prime minister.
70-year-old Mohammad Mustafa has ample experience in economics, but little in politics.
The move has surprised many -- violence is escalating in the occupied West Bank and Israel's war on Gaza shows no sign of ending.
So, how could this appointment shape the future of the PA?
And does it have enough backing from Palestinians to move forward?

Mustafa Bargouti is the only Palestinian politician/activist who is worthy of leading the Palestinians. He genuinely cares about Palestine.
There is no need of this abbas government criticing his own people and then keep quite like a puppet, FREE PLASTENINE
Palestinians should be able to decide themselves who their leadership will be and vote! Like everywhere else in the world, what hypocrisy. 🕊
Mustafa Barghouti is a national treasure, I always love to hear his moderate, well thought out views on the situation.
Palestinian helped them out of sympathy when jews were tortured by european and this is the prize of humanity!
France 🇫🇷 condemn Russia 🇷🇺 for attacking Ukraine 🇺🇦 but support Israel 🇮🇱 attacking Palestine 🇵🇸
The PA is as relevant to Palestinians in the West Bank , as an umbrella is in a hurricane .
I agree with Professor Sachs. They need statehood immediately, sovereign control of their land, their resources and their elections.
Free illegally oppressed occupied Palestine 🇵🇸 😢
My dad worked as a mechanic in Beirut, long time ago, when the PLO was active there and Arafat was their leader. And Mahmod Abbas used to fix his cars there. My dad told me that he hated Abbas, he was seeing himself as a king, and was very selfish, and always chased women. Now I look at the PA and understand that can money buy your soul.
D r .Mustafa you should be elected as prımınıster, he understands palıstıne and what the peple need and also speaks good englısh and arabıc',
Abbas is relevant for the USA and Israel but not for the Palestinians
“Everyone is watching,” this is completely true. And we’ll never forget.
Abbas needs to resign
When a country is occupied and they have a leader who works with the occupiers, what should we call them?
North Korea 🇰🇵 will always stand with the people of Palestine 🇵🇸
so they installed as PM another US/Israeli Schill, yeah that will work.
If America can not force Israel to open borders for humanitarian aid & instead resulting to dropping them by air & sea, how do people expect them to be able to force Israel to accept a 2 state solution?
Totally irrelevant authority in Universe
Mustafa Bargouti is right.
