- Turns out the Regera is not only the world most capable all-round road going Megacar. Not even us expected it to flat out kick track focused fierce competitors in the teeth - especially since the track was wet and cold. Imagine a dry warm track :-)
The Regera breath of capabilities now span from the fastest acceleration from 0-400 km/h (250 mph) back to zero again, to being to most comfortable, practical, user friendly daily drivable Megacar - to also be a track lap record setter!

So true! The Regera is highly underatted. I reckon the McLaren Senna won't age well in the coming future.
The Senna has a problem, and that is the "narrow" 245 front tyres, which simply are not enough for a car with this performance and down force (on track). If Mclaren had designed it with wider front tyres, it would lap considerably faster. The 600LT for eg has only 225 front tyres, which means it under steers badly when you're really on it.
yea but this has 700hp more... that's not insignificant and the Caterham lap's seem more impressive for what that is. Although I suspect Jesko already did a quicker lap and just hasn't been announced?

@@CarToneHK I guess from the power to waight differens and the actual usable HP there is not much difference from the Koenigsegg to the Caterham. You can't put down 1000+ HP at 150kmh.. I wonder at which speed Koenigsegg is able to actually unleashed the full 1700hp!
And all those who said Koenigsegg can only go fast in a straight line, were never seen again...
1.4-1.5 G in the slow speed corners, 1.3g even in the slowest corner. Effortless 150 mph at the end of such a small straight. Unbelievable!

faster then a BAC mono on a short track thats about cornering. thats impressive! especially considering its their least track focused car.
Well a GT3 car on slicks in proper dry sunny conditions does it in 58.5 sec or less. It hits 229 kmph at the end of the straight, mainly because of corner exit speed and light weight. So impressive as it is, no road legal car is beating a proper race car. But shocking a comfy road focused GT beat a Senna!

@@srinitaaigaura 5 seconds less than a GT3 cup car around this track is absolutely nothing. The cup car is stripped out, the tires last a couple laps and the engine needs to be rebuilt after about 60 racing hours. So I'm not sure why you compare apples to oranges, are you just letting people know this thing isn't the fastest thing on 4 wheels around that track?
Well, it has something like six times the horsepower of the BAC Mono. Put it like that it becomes slightly less impressive.
Still, it did better than I'd have thought it would.
@@thesprawl2361 I wouldnt say that, many high power horsepower cars have issue putting such power down on a track. Also the BAC is super light, which gives advantage on such tracks with corners like this.

That was such a smooth lap the lack of gear changes really helps keep the car stable and the amazing calibration work meaning that the power delivery is very linear really all does add up definitely a job well done congratulations 🎊

One thing to bear in mind about the lap time though is that majority of the other lap times (including Senna) are from Finnish magazine "Tekniikan Maailma" Scandinavian Sports Car of the Year group tests, where they also add and artificial chicane to the track, which means the lap times aren't really comparable
@Elias Håkansson There's an onboard of RS4 on the magazine's channel where you can see the chicane and it's ridiculously tight. I would say that a 2 seconds loss is a conservative estimate
An interesting thing is that Koenigsegg doesn't seem to dare to try on the widely recognized circuit.
In the SPA, he once claimed to have a record, but because the noise restrictions were not recognized, he fooled a lot of people until Senna and Pagani were fast and quiet on this track.
At the Nurburgring, Koenigsegg had two accidents and lost the courage to try again. It has been six years since the last test.

Crazy that it’s faster than a Senna. It actually looks a bit heavy and slow in the onboard video, but that’s probably just because it’s so smooth and easy to drive fast. No sawing at the wheel, jolting transmission, or fly-like direction changes, because it doesn’t require any of that to go fast as hell. 🤩

On a tight track, the hybrid drive makes better sense because the electric motors have instant torque with smooth power delivery. You can tap into the power immediately versus the windup needed for an ICE.
There's more to it. I run on that track quite a bit, and it is a track that favours momentum and grip much more than power. A Cayman GT4 and GT2RS run shockingly close on that track. That car with that weight, beating a Senna on Knutstorp. It should not be possible, but it is. Had this been a track like Spa that favours power more, the Senna would have been destroyed.
There thing that actually makes this impressive is the fact that this is a car you can get in your tuxedo, start it up, and drive on the street with comfort. It’s easy to make a car that is fast in hands of a really skilled driver, but what about casual drivers? What about a grandma? Can SHE drive it without any issues? Thats what’s awesome about the Regers other Koeniggsegg hypercars, you can get groceries on a Monday, and set track world records on a Tuesday.
This car sounds so strange in my ears because it lacks the changing of gears. But my goodness, it is fast! Great engineering and thinking outside the box.
A hybrid hyper that sounds as raw as an American muscle and looks as stylish as an Italian but has a detailed engineering of a German. That's Koenigsegg for you, guys. Perfection on wheels.

You know the straights are short when... Regera tops out at 240 kph and at most 5000 rpm :-D
The Regera hits 270 kmph in 10 sec actually and does it repeatedly on point. You can hear the lockup clutch engage at that point. That 11.6 sec time to 300 is uncorrected!

Under ideal track conditions and more seat time this beast could probably shave off a few more seconds. Then there's Jesko, which I reckon could annihilate any track record.
No matter how good a road car is, it isn't beating a pure racing car on slicks, except on the straights. GT3s have like 315 mm front slicks. No wonder the Senna couldn't beat the GT3.

Actually their four seater is their least track focused car.
Senna and the other cars tested by TM/TV/Bil was likely driving a slower configuration of the track known as Conf 2 at fastest laps, seems this lap adds 1-2 seconds compared to the normal lap that Regera was driving.

Those are the official lap times. Knutstorp won't allow them to publish lap times if they are not equal. Tracks are very "hands on" when it comes tk official lap records. They would not have allowed Koenigsegg to publish that time as a record if there had been discrepancies.

@@janinsweden8559 You know, Randy Pobst tried the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 vs the Huayra BC, and actually was most impressed by the Huayra despite the outdated single clutch gearbox - suspension, handling, front end, brakes, etc.. These smaller companies know their stuff well. In the Koenigsegg 0-300-0 videos, the steering doesn't budge one cm either way under full throttle or full braking. And now the Godfather Gordon Murray is back. This is the new golden age.

Spa was below the belt. They stopped them on their warmup lap, which itself was 7 sec faster than a P1.

But remember, no road car will beat a proper race car like a GT3 or a DTM. Will never happen. For reference a GT3 does this in 58 sec something. And hits 229 kmph at the end of the straight. Much higher corner speed, much more exit speed and far later braking and giant 315mm front slicks and 325 rears. No road car even with twice the power has a chance.
@@srinitaaigaura false, if the claims are true then the Aston martin Valkrie and the AMG Project One will be faster. Mercedes claims that the Amg One is close to a F1 car in performance on the track, which would be a lot faster than a gt3 car. I wouldn't even doubt the Jesko being faster than a gt3 car. With over 1000kg of downforce and 1600hp It has better stats than the gt3 cars which are heavily restricted by rules.

For those shocked, the Regera's 275 mm front tires easily beat the Senna's puny 245 mm fronts. And it weighs 1590 kg, which matches a LaFerrari at 1583 kg.
