I volunteered for Cologne Pride at the CSD demonstration this year. I handed out Pride wristbands. Even the Moulin Rouge was there and had its own bandwagon. They are in Cologne at the moment. Born This Way was also played. Unfortunately, it is again extremely important to stand up for human rights. There were also various politicians there expressing their solidarity for LGBTQ and speaking out against Putin and his terrible war against Ukraine. It was absolutely great. The original came out during a time that I could not fully accept myself as a gay man. I heard the words and felt the music but couldn’t allow myself to love and embrace who I’ve always been. Now years later I’m free from that mental prison and hearing this new rendition and the conviction in your words brings back all kinds of memories and emotions and reminds me how beautiful life is and how it belongs to all of us. We are only given one chance we should use it to live authentically who we are so we can love and be loved the way we are all meant to.
