We led them the believe we (the west) had their back when it came to the Soviets, but instead we sat silently and watched them get crushed. A lot like what we have done in many countries around the world. Poland and Iraq are two. But there are many more like Cuba Syria.
There was a real possibility that had we gone to Hungary's aid, it would have touched off WWIII. At least that was the rationale given at the time. The thing going on in the Suez Canal, about which I know absolutely nothing, was the real global hotspot at the time. Hungary has no oil so little economic incentive, perhaps? For what it's worth, I retired and moved to Hungary in 2016 and love it here, We ain't in Kansas anymore, Toto.
Yes because West wanted these people to be controlled by the Soviet Communism.Today is outloud known that the Soviet "revolution" was an organized coup against the Tsar.
No commitment was ever made. On the part of the Hungarians, it was wishful thinking. The fatal mistake was turning to Nagy for leadership; he was not the man for the role.
@@balazslaszlo7683 Sir, my father was in WWII when he was 14 years old and a Freedom Fighter during the Hungarian Revolution. He came over to America just like a lot of Hungarians did in 1956. Yes, I know exactly what I'm talking about and I was making the Russians look stupid by making a joke. Even though I'm only half Hungarian, I'm still proud of my Hungarian heritage and I would never say anything bad about my Father's home country.
We did it once again in 1989, but this time the soviets didn't come out and fight. Orban, as university student was the 1st, who wanted the soviets to leave for good. Now, Putin is just a very important business partner
I was there, so sad. My family and I escaped the Soviets in 1956, we left our beloved Magyarorszag.
My dad too. He was almost 8.

No, they (you are not an abstraction, you are not the state). Collectivist speak is what landed Eastern Europe in that hell to begin with.

And now the us is being crushed my communism & degeneracy.
Борьба с оккупантами - это дело чести, доблести и геройства.
Вот сам Сталин то же самое говорил.
