This is a great and chilled video, especially love the moment at 29:56 when you timed the music to you dropping into piste perfectly - very satisfying!
We are going to Val Gardena in early January 2025… really excited as it’s been on the list for a few years but just hope the snow is decent enough coverage!

Hi again! The orange route is a little better. The ronda is fun but not the best skiing in the area. Try the Alba-Pozza side system. And go to Seceda and the La Longia piste. And if you have really good weateer and good snow, the "Grande guerra" tour is a real adventure! And now you can ski all the way to Cortina and back! Oh i must go back again!
This year we had less than perfect weather so the long tours was impossible!

I agree, that val di Fassa section is lovely and uncrowded and the Catinaccio area above Pozza is small but nice runs and the most beautiful scenery. And obviously the Hidden Valley is gorgeous

This must’ve taken many days to edit. Bravo. Good job. Every time I ski this, I want to create a similar video, but I just don’t have the discipline because it’s so much fun. I just wanna ski it rather than take video of it.

Thank you. Appreciate you watching and commenting! I did have about 6 hours editing the 360 footage to flat, and another day editing the video itself. I hear you about it being more fun to ski without filming!!! About 75% percent of my skiing is for fun without the cameras. When people ask if I could include more of the off-trail and powder skiing as bonus footage, I tell them for now, I have my hands full just editing the ski resort and ski tour videos. The dolomites are so beautiful I can't wait to get back this year! Planning to hit Cortina and Val Gardena after skiing St. Moritz in Switzerland. Take care!

so, you are already home. What was the return journey like? Tiring ? How many hours does the return journey take? From Vienna? Or from Munich? New York ? .......
So now ski in America!!! It seems to me that these are two different worlds. Europe (Alps) has problems with the climate, there is usually very little snow.
But you were lucky - the Dolomites got snow, there was sun and that was the best!!! Thanks to this I can watch your beautiful videos!!! Thank you !! But you are lucky, as you can see: in Switzerland (Matterhorn) there was beautiful weather, in France (Chamonix) there was beautiful weather... in Kitzbühl there was beautiful weather!!!
Now it's Rocky Mountain's turn. America, 5-6 meters of champagne powder, slopes often not groomed ....
    Wide allmountain skis .
    But you are well equipped!!
And I'm waiting for your new beautiful videos - to get to know the beautiful ski world that has interested me for 55 years.
    Regards
    Georg

Yes. We are already home. The journey was long - 22 hours. Flew from Venice to Paris, then to Salt Lake City and then to Boise. Had a great time skiing in Wyoming with my Dad today. Sunshine for our weather. I head to Utah Sunday to ski next week. Try to send me an email when you get a chance. Take care!

22 hours traveling???? It's terrible.... Now you would have to take a vacation after your trip!! Have you been skiing with your father all day? I admire and salute your father!! I don't think I can ski all day long anymore. I'm not in good shape anymore (I'm 77 soon!!!!). On the other hand, I lack training... But the last few years have been difficult... warm winters without snow, two or three years of the Corona epidemic (skiarenas were closed, etc.).
I will try to send you some photos, I hope I will succeed. Unfortunately, my PC and my mobile phone are giving me problems. But - I will try, first maybe a photo, then maybe a video.
      Kind regards

    Hello James...
    beautiful... beautiful video!!
As always, perfect... everything described in detail, ski slopes, lifts, peaks, you can watch for hours.
How did you do the Sella Ronda ? In one day ? Was it a weekend? Monday ? Tuesday ?? The routes were sometimes full and sometimes empty again...
Your entire stay in the Dolomites was perfect... new snow... weather, sun.
I can really watch your videos non-stop.
Here, in Winterberg, the snow has almost disappeared... it's sad... I could ride for one day (or rather only 3 hours).

      Hello George,
Thank you - I really appreciate you! I skied the SellaRonda in about 4:45 minutes on Valentine’s Day (Wednesday February 14). I think some of the busier areas were places where people doing the orange and green SellaRondas got together for a short while.
We are back in Idaho. I skied our local ski hill with my Father yesterday. I took my GS skis to ride and I have to tell you even though I haven’t ridden them in two years, it was instant love! So stable, carve perfectly every time. I’ll be bringing them to Europe next winter for sure! Dad and I are headed to Wyoming this morning to ski at Grand Targhee ski resort. It’s supposed to be sunny weather and I’m hopeful to get some good photos and video of the Teton mountains. Next week I’ll ski in Utah - Snowbasin and Alta ski resorts. They are two of my favorite resorts in Utah.
Sorry to hear all of your local snow is melting. I guess it’s almost time to switch to Spring and summer activities. I’m lucky here that all of the ski hills are in the best shape they have been all winter so I should finish the season with excellent conditions.
Take care! Next week’s video will be SkiRama Dolomiti’s Madonna Di Campiglio ski resort.

    Hello,
You achieved a very good time!! ?? Bravo. No pause? There were no problems with orientation?
I was only in the Dolomites once (2020) - but I didn't visit Sella Ronda.
    Maybe I'll try 2025??
Yes, it's a pity that winter has ended here. I wanted to improve my carving so much!!! A year ago, March 2023, was cold and we were still in Winterberg on April 10. It was OK on a narrow snow carpet about 40 m wide and about 30 cm of snow. Do you have an email address? (on your you tube channel ??). Can I send you some photos?
Greetings for the whole family .
Lots of fun in the American snow!!!

Hi George, yes - my email is: dukeoutdoors@msn.com
Would love to see some photos!
There was only that one spot on the SellaRonda I mentioned in the video that was a little confusing (had to pull out the paper map to stay on course). Everywhere else was signed really well. My filming likely added 45 minutes to the time required, but other than that - no stops. Even though it’s a lot of lifts and runs, some were very short. I’m sure you could do it! Maybe if we time it right, you and I could do the orange route together in 2025 (as long as you don’t mind being on camera ;-). It’s definitely probable we will see more of the Dolimiti SuperSki resorts next season.
      Take care! Bed time here.

Worst ski day of 50 years of skiing was when I skied the Sellaronda. The snow condition was terrible and the crowds of skiers were even worse. The crowds in the video were nothing compared to what I experienced, and as a result half the runs were nothing but moguls by noon. I'll take higher altitude mountains (i.e. better quality snow) mid-week any day. No ski mountain in this part of Italy had a peak that was as high as the Eisenhower tunnel in Colorado. This comment is not due to an anti-Euro bias, I have travelled there at least twice a year for the past 30 years.

In recent winters, there was no (or little) snow and health problems meant that I couldn't "train". David, our son, spent 2-3 days skiing in Winterberg in winter - that's very little. Not enough to carve well.
