I discovered lucet several years ago and fell in love with the simplicity of it. I also love that it’s an ancient knitting tool. It’s great for making hair “ribbons” using the turning method - they come out stretchy but durable. Thanks for sharing this!
I guess it's kind of like a braid (to me, not that I remember how to braid)... then there's the corking set or French knitting doll that is like this but 4 or so in round, to make a tube version. Insanely useful and quick these things. I did a corking set for 5 minutes today for the first time (a very old plastic one, probably Bakelite) from Chieftain of Ontario. In 5 minutes, my first time, it made a perfect pen coozie. But you can do a strength test and this stuff is like rope even if the yarn is of so-so strength per strand. If the grid went down, man, this stuff would be prize wisdom.
If you had to make all the strong cords you had, for belts, for decorative braid on the edge of clothing, for hanging things, for weaving into larger bags: like a fishnet market bag. Hanging tools on your belt. Drawstrings. Strings for mittens. Strap for a bag. Possibilities are endless.. Anything you’d use heavy cord bought from the store for. As a knitter, it’s much easier to make cord this way than to knit in the round to make icord.
So two loops on the liver vs. four or five ( can't remember) using your hand... thank you for sharing this and making it sound so easy to learn... hugs Lynn Weasenforth 💯💜💛💙🌹☮️😘 stay safe from the pandemic madness we are all going through
Amazing tip the second one, i am using it in my classroom

Awesome. I had to only watch yours and understand the LAST one vs two others that went so fast I can’t figure it out. Thanks.
❤️👏🏻 I was clueless! Now I know - really like the tighter cord!

Interesting.....never knew about this. May have try it. Thanks Vicki
Fascinating! I think that would be a cute conversation piece, but what would I make cords for?

I bought one in a gift shop for William Penn’s homestead. The story of why they used them was interesting.

Never heard of that! Looks cool!
Beautiful video thank you 😊
What can you make with a lucet?
The looser version worked but I'm following the tighter instructions and it's not working for me :/
Wow! That's very interesting. I'll have to get me one.
Hard to see the pattern on the yarn used since its black :(
I wonder if hairpin lace developed from this.
Very interesting!
Woodglut is nice for that.
