This is the best version of this epic song hands down, and it’s Live to boot. There are certain performances by bands and solo musicians that just plain stick and in your mind can’t be outdone. This is the one from Jane’s Addiction that exemplifies this notion. Maddy you have to check out the Live concert video of this exact performance. It’s an experience on a different level of cool. Loved your reaction to this song.
9:57 - 'Professor of Rock' had an episode from spring of 2021 where he interviewed Perry Farrell and got him to recount the story. Apparently even in the 1980's rent in LA wasn't cheap, he ended up getting the downstairs from someone, promised to decorate it (he actually passed himself off as gay so they wouldn't be worried about his long hair), he ended up having ten or twelve flat mates of the place and Jane was one of his subleases. Somehow he got cool enough with the people upstairs that he was able to have the downstairs be a party house. Jane dabbled in H which was her 'addiction' in the song. I kind of wince when they get to the lyrics that she 'pulls her dinner from her pocket' - easy kid, you'll be keeping your teeth in your pocket as well with too much of that.
The lyric you had some trouble understanding was "Jane says have you seen my wig around." Basically, she's dying from heroin and her hair is falling out. This is one of my favorite types of songs, being that it has such an upbeat melody and instrumentation with incredibly dark lyrics. I lost my best friend to heroin and this song is tragic.
A positive warning about Jane's Addiction - they almost have a hard bifurcation between light and fun songs on one side to wondering if you put Tool in by mistake (Three Days, Then She Did, Summertime Rolls, Chip Away, those go off). It obviously still sounds like Jane's but it's not a side of their sound that you'd predict or anticipate from Jane Says, Caught Stealing, etc..
Greatest Jane’s song imo is the live version of Three Days on the Kettle Whistle album. One of those rare times I think a live recording is even better than the album version. Not saying you need to react to it, but….it would be very cool.
ABBA and Fleetwood Mac were both famous for writing songs about their exes, who were still in the band, and sometimes even having them sing the song. Any man foolish enough to date Taylor Swift is also subject to having the dirty laundry aired publicly.
@MaddyReactions I kept it simple because there is a long story behind the song or a somewhat longish story...and not just heroin addiction but drug addiction itself.
MADDY SAYS something something subscribe 🎤🎶🎶
Hilarious
That's awesome! Subbed long tome ago here...great channel and fun for the whole family
Beautiful Maddy. Jane was Perry’s neighbor when he lived in California. She did eventually kick her addiction, and she did visit Spain.
An ode to addiction

It is a steel drum, primarily used in reggae music
Oh cool!
This song and the band name was inspired by his roommate at the time, Jane Bainter, who had a heroine addiction. Great reaction!! 😊
Oh wow!!! ❤️
Jane's Addiction was so iconic.... thanks Maddy... love you vibe to almost everything... music lovers unite
Great song. Great era
This is my favorite version
There was a woman named Jane Bainter who was a housemate of the lead singer Perry Ferrell that inspired this song.
“Have you seen my wig around?” Jane wore a wig regularly.
I’m addicted to. MaddY ❤
❤️

Thank you Maddy!
Amazing song!!! Wonderful and lovely reaction Maddy!!! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
that's the sound of pandemonium.
In parts of the Caribbean, steel drums are called pans.

Something so profoundly sad and moving about the line "she wants them if they want her... She only knows they want her" 💔
Awww
My beautiful queen Maddy looking so cute thanks for the reaction
Thank you too
Best shirt so far
Jane did eventually kick her addiction. 😊
A steel drum 🥁
It's about the LA drug scene in the 80's. Jane was a heroin addict that lived in the same house as the the singer Perry.
I like it already 🎬

Oh wow
Steel drum is popular with beach music.

There’s catacombs in Paris…you can take a tour to see them near the Notre Dame Cathedral.
It's a song about heroin addiction. (This is my short, short simple version)
Really????? Wow I could not tell 😭
@MaddyReactions I kept it simple because there is a long story behind the song or a somewhat longish story...and not just heroin addiction but drug addiction itself.
And prostitution which goes hand in hand in a lot of cases with heroin addiction.
Paris France😊. It's a steel drum Maddy
4:14 - Lol, wig. Still, whip would be more interesting for sure (maybe she's got a red stepped hat).
Flea is a great bassist especially when he's naked on stage. Maddy please watch the video for this live performance.
Jane says: "i'm gonna 'kick' tomorrow..."
Meaning: she's an addict but she's getting high right now so she'll 'kick' the habit tomorrow.
Oooohhh
There are many addictions some obvious, some not
These goofballs are great live.
Thank you maddy may I have another
Jane says: great song😂lol
Perry is such a great poet.
That's the one of only nice things I have to about the band.
Oh, Three Days from their next album is epic.
"I'm gonna kick tomorrow.."
Maddy ❤

DANZIG: Mother

You are so beautiful ❤
Thank you!!
Jane says Maddy is hot.
Wig not whip
Oooohhhhh
Yes it's wig beautiful with or without it..
Is no one going to suggest, "Three Days"???
Have you seen my WIG around?
Jane could just be a nondescript name, like Jane Doe???
Except it's not. It's a song inspired by a real person called Jane Bainter.
A real “ Jane song?
Two chords.

Their big song was Been Caught Stealing.
The album version is better. The live version was so overplayed it was ridiculous, and almost ruined the song for me.
Kinda not here to hear you sing😂
Oh well 🤷🏽♀️ 😂
Please react to their song Been Caught Stealing!
