    I like the swiffer wet mop too. You are right though. They do not stay wet for long, but i have a suggestion. I spray my favorite cleaner on the floor here and there. Especially on spills or stains. As you mop, the pad will stay wet as you go. That works great for me.

      I’ve had my sweeper fior 15 years or so, and I love it. I have sprayed it with water to reactivate it when it gets too dry. Usually I only do this one time before replacing so I’m not diluting the cleaner on it. It’s worked for me. I LOVE your videos! It’s very motivating to get off my butt and clean! I’m pretty limited in mobility - get the visual - 67-Year old lady with my Swiffer in one hand and my cane in the other! I pull a lightweight stool around the house with me, so I can sit in a room and work from that. Thanks for your work😊👍♥️ You certainly make the world a better place to live♥️

    The product is so inexpensive that if you wanted a longer version you could add the rods from a second swiffer to the first and make it as long as you like. I've been using these for years and my parents now do too. I agree with your assessment its easier and cleaner than using a regular mop and pail. Thanks

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Great tip, thanks for mentioning the extension possibility. I'm thrilled as well to hear that your parents have found it easy to use. The mop we use is better than the one we don't. And this is easy enough, and lightweight enough, and convenient enough that many will use it when they won't get out a mop bucket and mop pads.

      It's the typical razor & blade business model. You buy a razor product for cheap, but in order to keep it working, you have to buy extremely expensive razor blades. Every single Proctor & Gamble brand use this model. Guess who owns the Swiffer brand? Oh and for all you dudes out there shaving, go get a DE shaver and save money. A LOT of money.

    Not a professional cleaner here. I just wanted to vouch for the Swiffer’s durability. I got it as a Christmas present about 20 years ago. It’s moved with me through countless apartments and even countries, and it’s still good as new. I know it’s weird, but it’s still one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten!

      I love the swiffer and it's wet and dry pads. But, withe both pads becoming too expensive based on the quantity you buy, begining to wonder if this product is worth it.. everyone seems to be " putting down " the use of a mop, some water and a little soap, and a little elbow grease...but what were we using before swiffer came into production?.. seems like the standard mop/ broom might win again. Swiffer seems like a awesome product to purchase but if the assessories are are being constantly downsized or overly priced, Swiffer doesn't seem so appealing to everyone..does it?

    I sweep the bathroom and kitchen first. Then swiffer these floors with damp microfiber dish cloth from Dollar Tree, and spray the floor with a mix of water/Murphy Soap as I go. It is so fast! The other rooms are old hardwood floors. (I have no pets), so I just use a dry microfiber cloth on all the hardwood. I beat the cloth outside on the brick wall as I do each room, and periodically wash out these cloths.
    Tip: Be careful not to leave microfiber rags stuck in the swiffer holes, eventually they stretch the plastic flaps of the holes out and you can't use them anymore.
    Love Swiffer!
    Also I have Victorian clutter and finally decided that buying Swiffer Dusters make sense for me. I can dust every room in less than an hour, and use the same duster for several weeks before it's too dirty. I buy them at Costco on sale.

      Awesome feedback and tips. Thanks so much for sharing this. And I especially like the part about not leaving the cloth in the mop - you're right, those grippers could bust or stretch with improper care.

    I loved this and I'm sold. Angela Brown did a great job of explaining what I need. I'm headed to Walmart to buy ALL the Swiffer products. At 75 and after 3 spinal surgeries I can't lug around all of my cleaning products and gadgets to clean up after the dog and cat anymore. I have to put on double back braces just to wash my floors and a pail of water is too heavy to lift so I have to go back and forth to the sink with the mop to rinse out and re-wet and soap up to do the next room. By the time I finish, the pain in my spine can't be described so Swiffer just might be the answer to my prayers. I'll keep you posted.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about the pain. I hope you feel better soon. And yes, please keep me posted about how you like the Swiffer Sweeper and if it solves your needs. NOTE: if bending over is difficult, you can baton twirl the Swiffer Sweeper (It's lightweight) so the floor plate is up near your head for easy access to putting on and removing the mop pads. 😍

    I had one in my old house that I've had for YEARS, probably when it first came out. Then, I suddenly had to move due to my husband's untimely death, and we couldn't afford to fix major problems now without his income, so, I don't know what happened to my other one, it disappeared during the moving, cleaning, throwing away stuff, so I bought this one. Its great. I use it clean the baseboards that I can't get to next to the washer, I have always dusted the ceilings and walls with it, its great. This one is a lot more fancy than my original one. It really is a "comes in handy" multi-use tool to use around the house.

    To me Swiffer is the best designed dry floor mop ever made. The design of the handle; you can lean it on any wall without worry if it will fall. The eye-hook is flat sided and a just a little grippy so it has much more drag surface area than a round end. The absolutely beautiful contour of the grip with a built in spacious eye-hook. The rod is exceptionally strong and light weight. It has lasted me so many years that I can't even remember how long I've had it. The color of the mop still looks brand new like the ones on the store shelf I see.
    The trust Swiffer has built into this mop is exceptional, trully a work of craftsmanship. As for the pads; they do the best job I've ever seen, and I've tried to look for faults with a high powered flashlight along with floor cleaning. There is so much R&D that went into just the size of the pad it's mind blowing, it's perfect. I can zig-zag my floors like I'm dancing, it's so fluid and graceful, my movements, I never get hung up because the mop is so calculatedly light.
    The mop is like an extension of my arm, I actually enjoy using it, I look forward to it, seeing it do it's job.This is what happens when genius and care go into a product. Because of the trust Swiffer has built into this and it's uniqueness I can't suggest you buy any other pad than the Swiffer. I mean it's just so much better than what's out there, you would think it was made by an American Company.
    No I don't have any stake in the company or been paid to write about it. I'm just a regular guy on YT folks.

    I love when you do product demos .
    I have used the Swiffer for several years now due to back issues. I can't haul buckets around the house very well.
    The thing I love most other than the lightweight , is the way it can maneuver under things without moving anything( a Godsend for bad backs).
    I'm pretty sure they still have a larger version of this, but the larger pads would be even more expensive. I use cloths that you can throw in the washer.
    Watching you use this motivated me to get up and start mopping lol.

    I love love my swiffers! I bought some polar fleece and made my own mop & duster refills. The most time consuming part was cutting the fringes but I did it while watching a movie so no biggie. I toss them into the washing machine then dryer and they're good to go for another round. I even use the mop ones to wet mop. I poked holes in the top of a disposable water bottle & fill it with my cleaner then squirt the floor as I mop. Round 2 I use plain water to rinse and my floors are squeaky clean. Yes yes yes to using them to clean baseboards and even walls. They do a super job! I admit though I extended my swiffer handle using the pole from my old one.

      LOL. Thanks for the feedback. Kristin (our editor) and I are trying some new things with the video version of the show. I listened to the podcast this morning (for quality control) while out jogging to see if such a visual show translated to just sound, and I was pleased other than I didn't describe the gunk on the mop head very well. I think the video did a better job showing it. Thanks for watching it and for taking the time to drop me a line. :-)

    Have all the Swiffer products and find them all useful cleaning my own house and other people's. Reading these comments just gave me an idea. Every box of wet cloths I've ever opened is filled a third of the way with extra cleaning fluid. If the cloth was still very clean but a little dried out, I could scoop out some of that extra fluid and pour it onto the pad. My experience is that by the time they're drying out, the pad is too dirty to continue to use anyway. Thanks for this review.

      Thanks for sharing this. You are correct, they don't stay wet for long. They are wonderful though for quick pickups. (True story.)

  • @sarakeppler7425
    @sarakeppler7425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like Swiffer a lot! As a matter of fact I rely on the dusters! I use plastic expandable handle and change the duster refills (those blue frilly soft pads) as often often as needed and perhaps frequently if it’s a deeper clean.. They work great on fans, blinds, walls, corners and get the cobwebs. ✅ 🙌
    However I don’t particularly use the dry mop but I would say it is probably more necessary and cost effective than the wet mop pads.
    Typically when cleaning houses with a former company, we just used a vacuum over both carpet & hard surfaces. However, we used the hose just as much as we vacuumed large areas because the hose would get in between the corners and small spaces etc;
    I could see using the dry mop to get underneath a sofa that is sitting on a hard surface because rather than moving the sofa and vacuuming it this is where the Swiffer would come in handy to get all that dust, dander, crumbs etc;
    So I’m partial to it but I do have one and may consider it from time to time.
    The wet mop not so much. I prefer a regular standard mop or an O’Cedar style spin mop to really get a good thorough mop done especially in large areas, besides the Swiffer wet refill pads are expensive and you don’t want to have to keep changing them out. My spin mop is microfiber and washable. So it’s just more cost effective and saves time. Just my opinion…

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AskAngelaBrown I completely know what you mean! (and it swivels!) so it’s very close to the same concept.

  • @d.vaders1178
    @d.vaders1178 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I use the Swiffer for daily floor dusting and quick wet wipe ups. I still use a standard mop for weekly wet mopping. I use a dry clean terry cloth after to dry up the floors and also with a squirt of glass cleaner on my polished glazed ceramic tiles to shine to a streak free finish because water leaves marks if I don’t dry it fast enough. Our neighbors cleaner was there when I was last over for tea…she uses the Swiffer exclusively. I now know why her floors never look really clean. I do not suggest it’s use exclusively especially when you are on hire for a client. It just does not provide the best clean. My Dollartree sells untreated dry cloths. They don’t pick up as well but are a great cost saver for quick dusts after baking in the kitchen or cutting home baked breads when crumbs fall to the floor.

    I use the Swiffer Sweeper in the homes of clients that have lots of pet hair (just the dry, not the wet). But instead of using the handle that comes with it, I use the handle from my flat flip dust mop from Masthome that I ordered on Amazon. The handle, though not as long as the Swiffer one (44 inches) is perfect because, besides being very sturdy, it is telescopic. The flat flip dust mop itself is awesome, just don't want the microfiber pads that come with it covered with pet hair.

  • @jwstanley2645
    @jwstanley2645 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the best things you said was that wet or dry, the Swiffer is still a floor duster, not a heavy duty mop. It is lightweight and I find it light duty as well. It is also nimble, getting under chairs, etc., almost as nimble as you, down on one knee to reach under there. That is faster and easier than moving the chair. Yet, as you rose to your feet, I feared you might (as I would) move to quickly and catch the handle under the chair. This would bend the handle out of shape. Within an hour, the handle would break apart. That said, I use a Swiffer Sweeper, with washable cloths (your terry cloth method). I also have less than 150 square feet of hard flooring in my tiny apartment. One of the reasons I use the cloth method is that in my small space the wet clothes would not last long. I rinse my cloth five to seven times in my small space. Seven clothes per cleaning proved too costly for me. Also, sometimes I need more water on the floor, for sticky messes. The Swiffer disposable cloths cannot put down much water and cannot mop it up again. Between the videos and other things, do you clean homes full time? Do you use the Swiffer Wet Sweeper in this work? (At the beginning, you mentioned a cleaner on the subway.) Also, I wonder if you would not compare the Swiffer to other products, such as Libman Floor Dusters, Libman Mops and such. I am certain you know of other makers in this type of product. What did you use before Swiffer came to town?

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi JW, thanks for watching and for the excellent questions. You are correct, the Swiffer is not a heavy duty mop and is perfect for compact spaces. The reason for the comment about cleaners carrying the Swiffer on the metro is that it dis-assembles and fits in a compact cleaning caddy. In the city, many of the apartments and condos being cleaned are not your sprawling 3K sq, ft. of hardwood you may find in homes in middle America. If you are cleaning a big home, you will want a designated mop.
      No, I don't clean homes full time anymore. I did for 25 years as a professional cleaner. I sold that part of my business in 2015 and have been training companies since then. Until Covid I was onsite 2-3 days per week cleaning/training with clients.

      LOL. The industrial strength pole I normally use is the Doca Pole amzn.to/2Twhl9J used for 24 feet walls and ceilings. It's very stable at every length and while lightweight is more a professional tool. After using that, the Swiffer seemed like a dollhouse toy. But I used the Swiffer in a variety of situations and on a bunch of flooring, with various "what if" pads and possibilities - and it held its own. For the average household, it's a really great option for floor maintenance. 👍

    I buy the grocery store brand. Super cheap.

    I tuck a bartender towel in, or a microfiber cloth in when I'm out of swiffer cloths. I stepped on the mop handle though, and it broke, so I'm due for another purchase, so thanks for posting this because $15 really isn't that much. My ex last purchased this @ 2003, when he developed an extra-special interest in housecleaning....🤔. I had in mind it would be much more than $15 so I was hesitant to even investigate, so thanks for posting this!

    I had a swiffer wet many years ago. It did wash my floor nicely. But I think there was something in the fluid that made a black track on the carpet that you step onto when you walk onto the carpet.

    I have been using Swiffer for many years. Recently I found the sheet for pet. Yes, it does catch tiny hair and sweep the edge of room, between wall and floor without effort more than original one. I do not have much complain about Swiffer.

    I bought one back in 2011 when I was a college student, 7 moves up and down the state, it is still in my closet. Walls, floors, behind the weird parts in the apartments, its a good tool. The only thing I dont like is when you use a wet micro fiber cloth its doesn't have enough weight at the head so it ends up flipping on you when you are pulling it back.

      Do you know about reusable cleaning wipes? Here is the paid link amzn.to/3SonZrK and you can wet one in the sink, wring it out and it goes on the Swiffer Sweeper really well. It's lightweight so it doesn't flop around, and when you are done mopping, you can run the cloth under water, wash it out by hand and hang it up for the next mopping. I can get 15-20 moppings out of a single cloth. And I use this method every morning when I'm cleaning the studio kitchen before the production team arrives.

    I think this is a great product for laminate and hardwood floors. I would not use this in place of a vacuum cleaner, I would use it to supplement your vacuum cleaner. in between cleanings and small touch ups. if you have a lot of hair and dust floating around I would vacuum first then go over the floors again with this to pick up the fine dust that is left. I think these do a great job especially as a dry mop for dust 😀

    Those will DESTROY your back. Your staff on your mop needs to be the same height as you or taller. And at what point did we decide that smearing around a dirty baby wipe was going to sufficiently remove dirt and grease off thousands of square ft. You would have to use the whole box. Not financially sustainable, not physically sustainable, leaves floor smeary and sticky. You can't even apply pressure or they will snap.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      It's true, not every mop is right for every floor, or every type of situation. And you're also correct about using proper bending techniques when using products that don't fit your height. Get the ergonomics, and techniques and products, right for the job at hand and you're good to go. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support and for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. I appreciate you. :-)

    Think what you want of me but I dont use a broom usually I just swifter and sweep at the same time into a standing dust pan. I noticed the janitors at the hospitals. Why do the job twice? I also just throw water or cleaner on the floor as I go.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Saxpoobie Lex Using a Swiffer or a dry dust mop to sweep is just fine. The important thing is to pick up the crumbs before you start mopping It sounds like you do, otherwise you’ll smear the crumbs around. The Swiffer sweeper dry and wet, don’t pick up crumbs and other types of debris on the floor. Mostly just dust and pet hair. 👍

    we’ve been using these for yrs and love them.... The only thing i’ll complain about is that the wet wipes seem to leave streaks on the tiled floors as they dry....
    the main thing is as always: highly recommend vacuuming/sweeping the floors thoroughly first before using the wet wipes to mop; otherwise, you’ll be blowing thru those wet wipes like crazy

    • @AskAngelaBrown

      Great tips. Thanks for sharing. I didn't vacuum first as I was curious to see what got pushed around and what was picked up - and I can totally see how vacuuming first would save one from using so many wipes. 👍
