@dorothymccormick4390 aww... thank you for the support! I think last season was a 'wake up' call... things have to be made a whole lot safer. The reality set in about the true dangers out there and how to mitigate those... we are setting up new protocols to ensure we are protected and safe throughout. 💚
So happy for season 3. Dandylions are the new kemo. They are keeping me alive. I eat every part, the leaves, buds, stems. I make salads, with the young ones, the closed buds and flowers. The flowers taste like honey. The buds when fried with butter taste like morel mushrooms. I boil all parts and eat them like greens, with butter, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper. They are sooo good. U r teasing me to see them,I want fresh ones only to have snow right now. And at that time(spring)of the year morel mushrooms will be growing.
That was quite an episode! You were faced w/all sorts of challenges and you aced accomplishing your goals! Wow! It makes the sighting of your peach & custard Danish's, a black bear, a flock of dandelions and a beautiful loon all the more special! It was very heart-warming to see good people helping good people such as yourselves. True Love: Melodi: I thought I was going to be staying here overnight, by myself.😢💓 Ryan: Ohhh honey. I would never let that happen. I've got Franken-connections!🙂💓 Oh, thank you for posting this, Melodi & Ryan and Opal!🏝🐕👫💓
It is a wonderful feeling to accomplish goals, even when facing so many challenges! Thank you for your kind comments - they are always such a pleasure to read 💚
A lot of places drill/cut a hole in one of the forklift blades to attach a ball Its much more secure than an attachment. I'm ready for a new season of videos.
Ohh yes! It is a HUGE haul when we get to the island - a lot of work to get it unloaded and just start the 'living' process. Thank you so much for watching! 💚
A good tip for moving things for you guys drill a hole in one fork at the end of peppers pallet forks you can bolt a ball on for moving light stuff around I having moving things around don’t even have to get out lol I have been doing it for years never hindered my forks at all
We just love you Cindi! Thank you for always being there with such support and believe me, Ryan appreciates the 'safety' reminders too. You are a treasured 'Holmie' 💚
Another awesome one :) You still had room for a few more things on your trailer so you don't have to make another trip lol :) Yes winter is hard on batteries for sure, Good to see you back to enjoy another summer of fun 👍, Great having good neighbors 😊, Have an awesome weekend
I am so glad that I received the season 3 notification. I glad that you’re back. I missed some of season 2. Ryan said he a plan and his plan worked to pill the boat off the truck. What are your winter months that y’all are off the island?
I'm really looking forward to getting the dandelions this Spring - no chemicals, dust or anything that will coat them (from the roadways). Just pure, clean dandelions... looking forward to it!
That is a nice protected bay for sure... but it is quite a distance away, and we would never want to impose on anyone. I may build a ramp one day to roll the barge out. Would make maintenance a whole easier too! It's a ways down the priority list though. Thanks for the suggestion. -Ryan
I DON'T understand, what Month is this for you??? On this video, I mean right now when I'm watching this it's DECEMBER ?? SO HOW MANY MONTHS AGO WAS THIS FILMED ? THIS VIDEO LOOKS LIKE SPRING ? DANDELIONS IN DECEMBER ?and last video I watched it was iced over on the lake, was this made in the Spring?
Hey there!! We always film a season and then edit a few months down the road. It typically takes 1 week to edit a 30 minute episode and there's no way to do it all in the same season. We are a bit late this year but we always have content - this Season is from this Spring/Summer/Fall (2024). Because it's only the 2 of us out on the island, it's the only way to get it all done - we fall into bed exhausted every night... We like to keep doing our Thursday night livestreams so we still connect with all our friends 😃 Thank you for watching!
You guys are repeatedly blessed, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s rough out there sometimes. I loved it that the neighbors were so serious about saving your equipment😊 I know God will bless them for that effort🎄
This was taped this Spring/Summer/Fall - - we have a gap for editing as we are the only two out on the island and filming takes the whole season - that way we can get lots done on the island in order to be able to share something meaningful as well. Thank you for watching! 🌿
@wayneboulware4730 there is a small seasonal community that live at the end of the lake in the summer near the boat launch. There are 3 families that live at the lake year round. Such lovely people.
(9:26) I'm so confused. How come Melodi looks like she's driving on the left side? The window is right next to her. She even looks out the window to her right at 9:48.
It's because the camera on the back of the phone reverses the image and mirrors it... it's a bit of an illusion. The driver's side is still on the left when sitting in the truck 😆 Thank you for watching!
@@mywildholm Oh, thank you! Well, not to say it's unusual but still, I bet some of the people you come across in your travels do a double-take when they see a woman get behind the wheel of (essentially) a big rig! 💪💓💪
@isabellindlind 😆 For some reason, driving makes Ryan super tired. I feel like it's the one thing that I can do to help out, so he can rest. I've mostly always driven the big loads - the barge, loaded trailers, the fifth wheel right across the country. Ryan regularly falls asleep when we hit the road 😴 It's a whole lot safer if I drive 🤣 Thank you for watching 💚
It was this year... We are just 5 months behind... our format is to film a season and then edit and launch. It takes a while but we've always got content up. Thank you for watching!! 💚
Seeing the sheer happiness in your eyes to be coming back to the island Blessed me to my core. Looking forward to the next installment!
@jhart7451 thank you so much for your kind hearted comment. Yes, the genuine joy we feel when we get close to our dreamland 💚
Yay for season 3!!!!
What incredible neighbours you have there ❤❤❤❤
You kids are true warriors!! All the crisis you have had to deal with! So much grit!!

Yeah, WOW, YOU HAVE GREAT NEIGHBORS, IT'S AMAZING that they saved your barge motor, and solar panels
They are just sooo wonderful! We are grateful for them!
Thankfully there are still people who help because it is the right thing to do.❤
@aprilgowins9849 ohhh yes! There are really wonderful people out there - they have actually restored our faith in humanity... such great people!
Great content great video
❤❤❤❤
And another season begins we’re all behind you rooting you on❤
Yay!! Thank you so much for coming in to start the new Season! We are looking forward to sharing it with you! 🌿

Exactly - just another option for hauling random stuff - - it'll work a bit better for sure!! Thank you for watching! 🌿
@@mywildholm Thank you for your prayers. My wife has one more week in the hospital and then off to a rehab facility.
@Rayvan43 ohhh we're so glad to hear she is on the mend. You'll be so glad to have her home! 👏
Great episode you are both amazing ❤
Good evening 🤗 yummy looking Danishes 😋 nice of your neighbors to help you out 👌 wow, quite a load to haul to the island 😉

We are excited to share another season with you - - something to watch during the cold winter months - thanks for watching. We appreciate you! 🌿
Fantastic 1st episode. I loved every minute of it ❤
Hey there! Thank you so much for watching. We are excited about this season - we got a few things accomplished and cannot wait to get back for more! 💚

Dandelion Tea is so good for you, also in the Spring when dandelions are young they are so good for greens to eat, with onions n bacon
I'm really looking forward to getting the dandelions this Spring - no chemicals, dust or anything that will coat them (from the roadways). Just pure, clean dandelions... looking forward to it!
@mywildholm Dandelion greens or any bitter greens help the liver
And the loon was saying welcome back melodi&ryan.
I thought that too!! Thank you for coming in tonight! It's nice to see you 🌿
Maybe you could ask some of your neighbors. Across the lake near the boat ramp, if you could rent their dock to park your barge during the winter.
That is a nice protected bay for sure... but it is quite a distance away, and we would never want to impose on anyone. I may build a ramp one day to roll the barge out. Would make maintenance a whole easier too! It's a ways down the priority list though. Thanks for the suggestion. -Ryan
I miss my beloved B.C and Cobbs so much 😂 ❤
Awww... hopefully it will give you comfort to connect a little bit through our story. Have a wonderful rest of your week! 🌿
Just a helpfull note those ramps adjust towards the centre about a foot each side just lift and slide
Are your serious?! Lol... Thanks for the tip! That would make things so much easier - we'll give it a try next time. -Ryan
Those Danishes looks great you guys need some bungie cords
We have lots of bungy cords, straps... you name it. Always need more though!! 😉

Living out there a jumpstart pack is a godsend.
Yes it will... and great idea! Thanks so much for the nudge. -Ryan

How many years ago was this taped?
This was taped this Spring/Summer/Fall - - we have a gap for editing as we are the only two out on the island and filming takes the whole season - that way we can get lots done on the island in order to be able to share something meaningful as well. Thank you for watching! 🌿
How many miles is it on the dirt to the lake
@michaelsweeney6666 it's anywhere from 1.5 - 3 hrs. travel time depending upon the condition of the road.
Even though?
You are very see other houses in your podcast. That live around the lake

Couldn't you rent their dock during the winter
I'm sure they would like for someone to look after their place during the wonder time and exchange for using their dock
