John is such a great guy. Was privileged to be there at Edale when he broke the Pennine Way record last year... Please don't stay away from the UK for too long John, plenty more records left to break here 👍😁
@@duzer He is a machine, nothing but respect for him and others like yourself who push to and beyond your limits. Thanks for the awesome content, new subscriber and looking forward to seeing more 👍
Good luck! I know that what was done to the Tarahumara people was very wrong, and they probably will never agree to join the event again, but it would be a great honour to meet them, I have huge respect for this tribe!
I did the Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race several years ago, and it was probably the best mountain biking experience I’ve ever had despite there only being about 4 miles of actual single track. The comradery and excitement that spilled out amongst the hundreds and hundreds of participants was overwhelming. So many “good job” and “you’re doing great” all along the course, even from the pros on their way back as us minions were still heading up to the top of Columbine. For anyone contemplating doing either the run or ride …do it!
More great Leadville content here, Duzer! That back climb was a bruiser; went back in mid_July to do the back Winfield part and then back up and it wasn't a mountain, it was a WALL. Glad to share the camp and main event experience. Two more weeks baby!
Excited to share the course with you this year!! My best ever double Hope crossing was when I raced it in 2017. I absolutely crushed the return and was so stoked at the effort....which was a strong hike. My pace? 30 mins/mile or so. You definitely have to respect that section, it is a beast (one that I hope doesn't chew me up and spit me out this year!)
I'm sooo excited to see you fly through this course!! I'll be cheering you on, probably as you're coming back over Hope and I'm still going down :) Cheers!
So much truth here! Any time we stretch ourselves is full of ups and downs, and thank you for always sharing your personal experiences with us-it keeps things real. ❤️ And love the John Kelly chat-thank you both!
Ryan, definitely some nice motivational discussions going on there. Running definitely requires a lot of psychological control. It was interesting to hear the discussion about knowing when you're hurting is a problem versus not. The magic of the mountains is always mesmerizing and keeps me coming back. Getting two passes and Summits is always rewarding! Best of luck in your race Pursuit!
Thanks for the idea. I'll be in breck next week doing Wheeler, Decalibron, crested butte and now hope pass! Looking forward to getting back out there!!
I'm in CO to mountain climb around Leadville... the home state of my favorite youtuber. Ryan I'm gonna yell hellllooooo to you from the top of Pikes Peak. Let me know if you hear it 😄 🤣
Love the Leadville course particularly from pipeline to Winfield. I enjoy running and hiking up and over/back but too old now to do the race. Really enjoy watching young people who can do it. Nice video / lot of memories 😀👍🏃♂️🏃♂️
You're gonna kill it this year duzer!! Train hard my man. You are my inspiration. A question for you as someone who is also car free, in Denver. How do you make it out to Leadville? Bus? Carpool with a friend? Your mom??
Good question! I put out a call on my FB asking if anyone was driving up I-70...got lots of offers from people...FB is my go-to for finding rides. CHEERS! You can also take the Bustang from downtown to many places on the western slope, look into it!
Years ago I did ironman and miss the training . We have a saying in ironman racing. "SUFFER FOR A DAY ,BRAG FOR A LIFETIME ".....think that one may apply here also. Think I'll do another.
I've moved to a new place, and I've been wanting to check out a national park I live right next to given I also got a new bike now. Today I finally got the time and the bike ready to get out there. As I haven't been there before my goal is really to just see what parts are rideable or not, so I just went for it. I pretty much ended up carrying my bike 80% of the time, and all I could think of was that I've been through way worse before. I know my expectations were too high so I had to do a bit of adjusting to say the least. I'm still very glad I went at it, because I wouldn't have the experience I now got if i didn't so I can make further plans for what to and what not to do. I often find it hard to find out what is rideable or not beforehand, because most trails are simply traced for people on two feet. I will do lots of backpacking up there as well, so I'll just have to have some patience before I know more of the different areas so I can make more plans for two wheels down the road. Just gotta get back out there.
Hi, love you & your videos. I’d like to know about the age 50+ group and how many attempt this kind of race? Also I thought John Kelly’s advice was just, in general, great life skill advice!! “ i’ve been through this that and the other thing, and I can do this, I can pop out of this.” I needed to hear that!
Your body will ask you for harder workouts when it's ready for them! Your mind will also be ready for more demanding challenges! No need to rush it, it will come as one gets stronger.
Amazing view at the top but no thanks🤣All the best Ryan👍I cycled 101 miles yesterday and climbed almost 7000ft, I thought I did well but this makes me feel like I just went for a short ride and climbed a molehill🤣
Is Kofuzi going to make it to Leadville??? Or at least pace you in some of the miles? You’ve been doing a lot of great 🚴 trips. So this time around Leadville might be a great race for you.
for most people who do the 100 milers, is this the normal pace people do in a 100 mile run, more less jogging on flats and just hiking pace many of times?
@@duzer I don't think we get Pine Beatles in NC so never seen that. Even so I like the look of the woods there. My area looks boring. I always thought the Red tree forest looks like it was straight out of the fairy tale, Same for some other ones
