Karna was protected with his kavach Kundal here). 2) Arjuna defeated karna three times in Virat war and Karna run away each time. We are not saying that who was better both of them. But Karna must have competed with Arjuna. They both were warrior. We should not compare between both of them.
It was seen that everyone is supporting characters of Mahabharat but didn't think what is the purpose of Mahabharat. Arjun was great warriors but it was also mention that lord parsuram said once that only lord Shiva could victory over karn and having kawach and kundal he couldn't die because his kawach kundal was made through Amrit. Last thing bis karn choose duryodhan but Arjun choose Shree Krishna which make Arjun to the victory of Mahabharat and main reason of the karn dead on Mahabharat was the two curse he get from his teacher lord parsuram and one brahmin. So it's better to feel the Mahabharat rather than supporting characters. There's lots of things to follow from each characters of Mahabharat.
