So glad you didn't sand and polish away all those forge lines. It really came out beautiful. A little more torch time on the grain for me. Not burnt but really bring out the contrast!

It came out looking pretty nice. It's a wood working rather than a wood cutting axe so not designed for chopping. Have you thought about sharpening it (with a wet stone)? How are those lines along the front bevel? Maybe it's just rough casting but one of them looked structural (a crack). Interesting looking handle. How does that rectangular shape feel against the base of your thumb?

Yes, i will sharpen with a wet stone (I wiil make it like in my other video ''restoration some old tools''). I think the lines of forge are not structural and not a problem.. the time with the use will say it. I feel all the handle quite comfortable and i am happy with the result.
That looks like someone tried to copy a Hudson bay tomahawk from someone else's description. It's kinda longer on the blade side,but really neat looking! For a wall hanger,that's a descent handle. If you're gonna use it,the board was to narrow/thin. That's gonna kill your hand. If you're gonna make one out a a booard you need one half again as thick as that one was,to get the proper thickness to make an actual round,handle cross section. Otherwise,I liked it. You didn't over work the metal surface. I like the blueing that was a nice touch.

En este le he dedicado mas atención al aspecto, ya que me gusta darle formas más vistosas (y también muy cómodas a la mano) sin perder funcionalidad. Pero reconozco que el otro es mucho mas batallero. Saludos!

It's your video and therefore you may not want to receive any negative comments, however, I find myself unable to withhold saying the following. That is, unless my old eyes are deceiving me, I detected a crack in the hatchet's lower area running crosswise on the right side of the broad face. A crack which you never attended to in any manner, which unfortunately in my opinion, negates all the work that you did do on the hatchet. As such, if I were you I would never have put my logo on the handle. BTW : That is a hatchet design which in all my long years have never seen before, but I like it and would like to know the manufacture if possible. Further, the style of handle that you made is also one which is new to me as well.
Hi. I appreciate all the comments as long as they are respectful. A lot of the comments help me to improve the work. What you have detected is not a crack properly, it is a delamination, signal that it is a hand-forged piece.. in my opinion, trying to eliminate that forge lines would ruin my restoration work. i could have polished all the axe and those lines would have disappeared, but I wouldn't have gotten a stronger axe.. I decided to put my logo on the handle, it is my stamp, but i respect your opinion. Im glad you like the design of the hatchet 👍 BTW : I like the critical comments I hope to continue seeing you here

I would clean up the hammer end , for safety reasons

I would have ground the head of the ax back to its original shape. It has been knocked out of shape by a hammer.

Not a hatchet it's used more for shaping wood than cutting it
