I know what you guys are gonna be thankful for… I've uploaded part of this episode already, but here's the whole thing. At long last, the FULL November 1999 Series II premiere episode of Millionaire

So, a couple of things here, just to answer some questions I've seen asked a few times
1: I do have more episodes and will try to post them
2: A lot of my work this semester was/is focused on the midterm elections which is why I've been so darn busy (or quiet, as it pertains to my YT channel) lately (I promise, I haven't forgotten about you guys!)… now that they're over, I'm hoping the workload lightens a bit, so I SHOULD have some more time to get stuff uploaded
3: I do not have any more episodes from 2000

It will always be one of my favorite game shows of all time and nobody has done it better than Regis and that is my final answer. He was a very classy and funny individual and he will truly be missed. RIP Regis

For anybody else who fell into the same trap Mark fell into, don't worry. I did, too, and I consider myself very good about geography.
However, it turns out that Santa Fe is indeed the highest, and by a larger height than I expected. It stands at *7,199* feet high, almost 2,000 feet higher than Denver. As a result, I've heard locals say that you should take at least two full days to acclimatize if you ever visit.
I did as well. Denver ain't called the Mile High City for nothing.
I bet the audience would have been wrong as well if he asked them and the 50 50 will 100 percent leave Denver and Santa Fe and a phone a friend would have said Denver.
On John Cuthbertson's $64,000 question - the interesting thing is that the Nobel Peace Prize is the only Nobel Prize that is given in Oslo. Funnily enough, all of the other ones are actually given in Stockholm.

Mark Megerian is the first Millionaire player to not use any of the lifelines. He blew on his "Santa Fe" question for $32,000, but Mark still leaves with not-so-bad $1,000.
This is why I miss ABC like this

That poor first contestant.. lol rip! Almost got to 32k. I thought it was that too.
Very common trap to fall into. I did when I first saw the question, too.

I remember this episode being on a GSN rerun when I was a kid (back when the November 1999 episodes were new to me), so you can imagine how shocked I was that Mark bombed at $32,000 with all three lifelines remaining, and that the phone-a-friend was never used in this episode (which, by the way, made me think "Is the phone-a-friend ever used in this series?").
I thought even by then they edited out the "Final Answer" question from the first 5. Surprisingly slow paced for US network TV, even for 99. Especially the long introduction to a leftover contestant from Series 1.

14:58 Mark loses $15,000. Was living a bit dangerously on the previous few questions by going with deductive reasoning. Came back to haunt him in the end. Still had all his lifelines too.
No guarantee the lifelines would've helped him. A lot of people would've guessed Denver.
I agree with Jim. The audience would've likely went with Mark's logic. Unless the phone-a-friend was a geography expert, they would likely have also guessed Denver. Pretty certain 50-50 would've left Santa Fe and Denver as well.

While this may have been legendary in Britain, the US version was absolutely GOATED and the fact that John Carpenter won the million just 4-5 months before the UK had it's first millionaire makes this more GOATED than ever 😊😊

The UK producers mandated that the sets, music and rules be kept the same, though they allowed a friendlier host in Regis compared to Chris. It stood out for that reason, they weren't allowed to mess with it
I think there may have been some extra cues for the US version, though. The “last time on WWTBAM…” cue (the one with the bells lead), used to recap the last show, isn’t in any UK episodes. I’ve never even found a clean copy of that cue.

I thought I remembered learning it was 3 but my initial guess was 4. 2 was a horrible guess and he said it so fast.

I found out that a lot of ABC channels have used the logo shown in the bottom right corner. Without local ads in this upload it's hard to tell. I don't live near any of their locations as the ones I receive where I live are WNEP (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre) and WPVI (Philly).

I would love to get a Titanic question for $32.000. Watched that movie so many times as a kid.
The last question was good for me. Where did McCain spend five years straight? I didn't know he was gay. From there, West Point and Attica sound like bad options. Dunno about the governor's mansion.
