My dad was a jet engine mechanic for the Air Force during Korea. I cherish all the stories he left me. He loved planes and we would go to airports just to watch them and activities on tarmac. Dad would use the binoculars and tell me the meaning of signals by ground crew. Dad loved to fly. I am terrified. R.I.P. daddy! ❤️
I lived in the NWT and losing your power in the winter there is not good. You'd be surprised how quickly a building will get cold without boiler recirculation pumps / furnace fans even when hunkered down. Yellowknife was a nightmare for power outages. Seemed like every single month that there was like a one-hour power outage or so.
I live in upstate New York which is nothing like the extremes of NWT but in normal terms compared to the rest of the country we get some of the worst winter weather and it isn’t unusual to see a cold front come thru with single digit temps and minus temps when adding the wind chill factor. Power outages are brutal and considered very dangerous that time of year around here so I can only imagine what it’s like over there.
@@nickpapagiorgio5056 We live in Northern Michigan . The power was out for 5 days during the winter . We were one of the few that had a old wood stove for such times .
I maintained a DC-3 in Alaska for 13 years during the 90's, people have no idea how much blood sweat and tears goes into keeping a machine like that in the air.
Damn I’m so used to seeing documentaries about other countries that seeing one about Canada (where I live) is quite interesting especially NWT which we barely hear anything about.
I would love to live up in the far north. Buffalo is probably the ONLY airline where a pilot can learn to fly old vintage airliners like the DC3, DC4, Electra, etc. Too bad they don't have a Lockheed Constellation. A Connie would look awesome in Buffalo Airways colors. Just wondering, wouldn't most homes in the NW Territories and the Yukon have wood stoves as backups for when the power goes off?
@@adbrucee Ah okay. I guess I was thinking along the lines of the old school Yukon cabin in which the old timers lived which were entirely heated by wood, and had no electric.
i have heated with wood for over 40 years, i would never live where there wasnt some trees to harvest and trust on anywone else to heat me cabin .NEVER
Put the generator on its side. Perhaps weld a small structural harness if it cant support weight on the side. Make sure to drain the fluids in generator. It was taller than wide
5:37 - if they talk about temperature, are the in °C, or °F? I almost assume, °F, because this old lady would not heat to 30°C on the inside, or would she?
@12:25, Dear Mr. Narrator, please get your history facts straight: During the Berlin Airlift (June 1948 - May 1949) DC4/C-54 Skymaster hauled coal and food supplies to West-Berlin......not East-Berlin.
@Jari Junior The generator was made to fit, but not with all the hardware and exhaust system on the outside. And it was not designed to fit with the mods they made to the floor of the aircraft. As I stated before, maybe they should have measured it ahead of time.
@@bigman55434 no wonder Buffalo Joe constantly gets fits of rage. His people measure and say the generator fits, But there is a snag, not with the attachments or the mods on the plane. Why even measure if you can't do it right.
Need saving, well maybe new planes that aren't in a constant state of breaking. Yeah old planes are cool but they are best left to the airshows, for business, total madness.

*@**17:19** ~ It’s absolutely ridiculous that the new girl Audrey is able to jump ahead of Jeremy by such a large leap. If the boss makes that decision then he absolutely would deserve to be punched in the face and knocked out, or have a bat take him to his ribs. For people to sacrifice their body and such horrible conditions for such a long time and then to be disregarded just because they don’t have any more options is terrible.* I’m 100% fine with a female Rampy not being penalized for being physically weaker than the big guys. As long as people are doing what they’re physically able to do, that’s 100% reasonable. But to let her jump the line by such a huge leap is what is terrible.
WRONG. if they are paid the same, and sold the same career path, there is no way the girl should be given the easy way out. Women get the same chance for success as guys. Not more. Not less.
@@bigman55434 - Well I obviously disagree with you. It’s easy to make an argument that actually the female is working harder because a big guy can pick up 50 pounds much easier than 110 pound woman. So the woman theoretically has to strain much more in order to get the job done. So one could argue that the woman should be paid more. Different people bring different attributes to a job. But of course you’re replying to some thing that I really didn’t even mention.
@@packrat76 - Well… I think you kind of missed my point. Didn’t say that I believe that a woman in that case should be paid more, I’m making a point that a woman is exerting a higher percentage of force based on her abilities per hour than a average man would be.
"She is gorgeous by heart too" - What a lovey way of putting that.

Its in C. They are trying to get it heated up and defrosted so yes 30c wouldn't be unusual. Most houses are set at 21c so its not much higher.

Just looked up Buffalo Airways. They have a DC-3 that dropped paratroopers onto France on D Day.
Wonder, why the latest mayday series uploaded can't be watch in some of the countries?
Would it have fit in the Electra?
Most likely but it guzzles $4000 of fuel an hour. So not viable financially unless fully loaded.
