I am a composer, but Dan's tips on writing (whether novels, non-fiction, short stories, scripts or music) are immensely valuable for anyone in the creative fields.
He's spot on about the comparison between music and writing (at 48:00)

just bought MC and the first one I watched was Dan Brown's. Within 1 hour he completely transformed my villain with advice that came amazingly clear. He gave me a real bulb light moment and for that alone was enough for the entire $$180 class

Amazing! I’ve watched the first 11min and can’t wait to see the rest tomorrow morning, but now I’m dead tired! Dan Brown really knows the deal! I’m writing my first novel in my first language and I can see it truly is all about sitting on a bed of nails and keep telling yourself “this is very important to me!”.
Some days you feel discouraged, some others you hate your writing, but sometimes good words come out and you can look at your page proudly!
This virus catastrophe helped me A LOT in finding time and focus!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING! I wish I could afford the master class!

This is awesome. On the question of handling the writing of thrillers based on true history- it can be done and when it’s done well, it’s SUCH a treat for historical buffs to read. An example for me is ‘Legacy’ by Susan Kay. It’s about Queen Elizabeth the 1st. If you can find it, I highly recommend it.

I'll have to read his books, he's kind of funny.
I usually am most inspired when I am bored. Used to be a CNA and when I was assigned as a sitter for a patient for a 12 hour shift, there wasn't much to do besides watch the patient and think. Same with long drives, you get into a rhythm and there isn't much to do besides drive and think. I have definitely had some really cool breakthroughs during those times, even if it was a mind numbing process to get to it.

There was a rat. As a kid he grew up sniffing the sauces and the sweet meats wafting up from the five Michelin star restaurant below. The constant heat from the ovens kept him warm as he read the best chefs and memorised their secret recipes. Aw! Nuts. It's one of those stories that's been told before.

I agree with Dan on many points, but for heaven's sake, he came to Sevilla, Spain, my hometown. Now that he's talking about honesty, he totally ruined the description of Seville in "Digital Fortress," with no need to, even for purposes of poetic license. That made me not trust the descriptions he writes of other cities. But, Dan, as you say, "Be honest." I still enjoy your books, but don't give silly reinventions of cities just to make your novels interesting. I read this book after "The Da Vinci Code," and this miscontruction of my city made me lose certain respect. Let's give an example, translating it to an American city, of what he did to mine. Let's take Washington D.C., for example, so that you can see an analogy of how Dan butchered the description of my city. Imagine I write a book where the action happens in D.C. and I say that City Hall is in the Lincoln Memorial. The disco I "mention" is located right next to the White House. And so on. This is especially horrifying when a writer has been in the city he's describing. Again, if a writer wants to use poetic license, yet be truthful, include a page at the end of the book, mentioning all these changes of venue and why you decided to do so. *That* is being honest. Digital Fortress is the only book I've thrown into the waste basket. I love your novels, Dan, but be honest.
