thats wonderful you can refer naturally in the research plan for the motivation or the plan somewhere. i don’t recommend to look it odd. its good if you can make it normal and still convey the information that the if selected , would persue in this lab with this problem. thats my example you can improve it. good luck

maybe eligible in some cases because the student is choosing the directions right. some do this without letting the current supervisor know in the process. eligibility wise, I don't remember seeing anything particular about this.
