    Graduated a few weeks ago with a BS in Applied Data Analytics. I am 20 have no work experience, with experience from all the skills i’ve gained the past two years in uni. All my skills are new and easily accessible so that is a plus but they aren’t the strongest especially without having done an internship. Your videos so far have been really helping me feel better and more confident about starting my job search and interviewing

      I'm so happy to hear the videos have been helping! All you need is one offer to start working from, and your first job doesn't need to be the perfect/best job. I loved my first job but it wasn't my "forever job" haha so after 2 years I job hopped to something I thought was a better fit, and you can always do that too!

    Love what you said, "the narrative you want to tell them" and the rest they'll get to know when they talk to you. Simple, elegant & confident ❤️

    So glad I came across this video. Very eye-opening. I can relate to the last point you made about the importance of educating as an interest. I've done it myself with my TH-cam channel. Keep up the great work. Subbed!

    Can you put class projects on a resume that you worked on with a group?

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist
      @TheAlmostAstrophysicist  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup! I did that when I was about to graduate from college - I included it as a "Selected Projects" header, and wrote out two different projects that emphasized my DS skills there.

    BIG THANKS! I'm currently looking for a job and this helps me a lot.
    This month, my former boss told me that they won't renew my contract, because they wont have much work to do for my profile, but they appreciate the job done and offered me a recommendation letter. This was my first job and, honestly, I'm a little in panic. I don't know what to do, my previous resume was terrible, my LinkedIn is still empty and without any contacts, so I don't know where to start. This video helped me to see how to begin with the resume
    If you could make more videos in the futreabout job searching, applying, etc, it would be awesome

    Hey ! Do you think that languages should be emphasized on the resume or it’s just a plus to tell during interviews? Thanks a lot for this insightful video !

    • @TheAlmostAstrophysicist
      @TheAlmostAstrophysicist  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're referring to programming languages (python, java, c++, etc.) I'd recommend adding it in a line under technical skills for sure on your resume!

    Thank you for the tips on resume structure optimization. I completely agree with your idea on highlighting Excel experience in Gardel, even though you also probably used some software like GROMACS or AMBER there, but pointing out Excel experience is definitely more useful career-wise. That's why I'm surprised that you mentioned Quantum mechanics in relevant coursework instead of something like Probability & Stats, Optimization or Advanced algebra - I mean something like vector and tensor spaces, especially if you would like to move into Tensorflow, ML or something similar. I don't want this to sound like I'm roasting you, but I have yet to find a real world use case for my 2 semesters of QM (not saying there isn't one, I just haven't found one yet).

    • @gmshadowtraders
      @gmshadowtraders 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, it's true, she studies physics, something that has ZERO business application. Stick with math and stats, forget all that mumbo jumbo QM shit lol
