Looks great mark, most people sand back through layers of paint to gain a patina look , and you can tell its not natural and they usually go over board , the look you got looks natural well done
But you wear a mask or you have an early death will ... ? Poor anything around there being covered in paint particles from a random dude. At least build a temporary plastic sheet shelter.
I actually like it. Well done. Do you sand the “graphics” back before laying down the clear or leave it with the rough texture, and if so can you feel it through the clear ?
Usually sanding the graphics would add a more weathered look, but rubbing any sort of metallic base coat before the clear goes down is a bad idea, it’s always visible in the metallic.. kinda hard to explain. But in this case we wanted to protect the body as much as possible
Mcm did an epic patina paint job about 10 years ago. Strip the paint to bare metal cover it in beer and rub salt over it come back in a few days and magic.
Sorry Mark I am not a patina fan either real or manufactured 😀 appreciate the effort you put into it but I think it would’ve been better spent just spending a bit more time and doing it one colour. Would’ve turned out brilliant 😀 but as always not my car so all the best 👍
@@TheIronEmpire yep understand. Never painted a car in my life and probably never will so not in a position to judge 😀 love your work so keep em coming 😀
While this look may not be for everyone....you achieved what you set out, in the time frame that you had. Haters gonna hate and Mark dont give a f#@k! 😂 Good job buddy. Loving your creative mind 💪🤘
That ZK looks like one of the better ones left in circulation. I would have personally went with the budget clear over Sovereign. I think you would have been surprised how presentable it would have turned out, but i understand mate, its all about the content!
Hey! Mark another gr8 ep, (gee! you beat your self up a bit) car looked gr8 with new gold spray, I would have been happy with that, but coffee grinds???, legendary. WOW! hat's off gr8 patina BEN's gotta be happy with the result. GREAT job, fantastic p.s. 1st patina??? like to see you do more CHEERS keep at it
Nice work on the effect, but I'm like you, not a fan of this finish, it belongs on 40s 50s maybe 60s cars. Not an 80s car thing. But you did a sweet job on it
Natural patina is always better to see, this was a decent look on cam, keen to see in person before actually judging it... However, the lower front valance, door surrounds& bumpers not being painted was a huge disservice to the overall look in my opinion
@@TheIronEmpire i understand the time crunch for vids, and finances vs end result... im in that exact situation of rust taking over and no money to fix it... Wasnt anything negative, apologies if it was taken that way, was just saying if the lower valence was painted it would of looked neater and if valance and surrounds were done itd have looked faux rust perfect for a show...

My suggestions would be: 1. If you’re going to do patina, don’t clear it. 2. Don’t take it personally when a few of us don’t like something you do. As I said it’s very rare that I’m not into what you’ve done, and my comment wasn’t intended as a dig at you. The majority seem to be into it. Looks great, Mark. I did notice that this car was fitted with a Philips Premium Sound System 😮
It’s different, I like it 👍
Love the invisible respirator mask 😎😷
Probably will be wearing one eventually when his respiratory system turns to shit.
Bro you have the sickest car's..Ford all day..
looks good!! was there a reason the bottom of the front bumper didn't get a lick of gold?
Time 😣
never enough of it!

Yeah, with this one the main goal was to preserve the car. Saving it from deteriorating further so at some stage in the future it can be restored
I use the same paint booth!

yea nah
I gotta admit, I was hesitant in how this would look, but Im actually surprised at the finished product. Great job Mark.
Got no issues with the job looks good, but dude seriously wear a respirator! You gotta wear one! Dude! Set a good example for everyone who follows you
It’s cool faux-patina, but that poor FPV ute copped a bunch of overspray, yeah? 😮
Nah I threw a cover on while clearing
You missed a spot [ front bumper]
Sweet dude
Thats what we are doing qith the ht ute but its already got factory rust haha
Perfect 👍🏼

Awesome. This kind of finish really can be achieved at home .

Unfortunately even a half decent paint job is well beyond a bit more time.
Otherwise that’s the route we would have taken.

This has nothing to do with content and everything too do with wavy panels, bad previous repairs and no time for correct prep work.
Actually turned out pretty good!
Rate it !! Another 1 g2g for many more years .. very creative use of coffee grounds too lol
That turned out killa mate love ur work
Great job, great show👍
That looks great love it 👍👍
Looks sick . When is Jake going to release another vid.
Doesn't suit it at all

It certainly wasn’t forgotten

faux patina always looks terrible .. this is no exception 🤮

This one’s a miss for me. It combines 2 things I cant stand, fake patina, and clear over patina. A rare thumbs down from me.
Why not use those two thumbs to type out some alternative suggestions?
My suggestions would be:
1. If you’re going to do patina, don’t clear it.
2. Don’t take it personally when a few of us don’t like something you do.

For honesty it's not my thing (no hate , each to their own) .
I love your bodywork skills Mark but that isn't my cup of tea.

Look again, we actually dropped it like 3 inches from the beginning of the video to the end 😂
