Picking up my new IKEA TROTTEN table - first impressions

- A potential replacement for my ancient IKEA LINNMON gaming setup desk. Let me know what your thoughts are on the new L-Shape desk build project. I think it would look alright with some good cable management and all matching X table legs. This new IKEA Trotten is way better built than the IKEA LINNMON I was using before, not as thick of a desk, but much heavier - just make sure to mount the table legs a bit closer together to prevent it from bending in the middle (or just add a third table leg).

Linnmon all the way, love it
For those who only want to use the legs on the side with no center support, I would suggest getting a metal bracket (a table stiffener at least that's what I think it was called anyways) strong or some kind of support to put under the desk to stop it from sagging over time, or if you can try attaching it straight to the wall as this would help eliminate desk wobble depending on the legs you use

my idea for this room would be : on the grey wall those desk legs with a dark wooden straight desk top with no curves or L shape. just a big straight dark wood desk top with the 3 monitors would be perfect with those desk legs.
I prefer the curved ikea linnmon, however is there any chance you may be able to get a custom table top from somewhere, with the back slightly wider and keeping the same shape?

I think you should go with what feels better to use. When gaming it's important that you go with what's comfortable and doesn't affect your health in a bad way too much. BTW love your videos.

Hi, looking at your desk I would put a sheet of would in front of the table legs that you added to the back of the desk. That sheet of wood will hide all the wires that are behind those 2 extra legs. That what I did to my desk. All my wiring is behind a piece of wood ... Keep up the good work
What do you advise me to choose razer huntsman elite or razer huntsman v2 analog although I do not use analog but the two have to reduce to 150 dollars so what do I choose? Thank you.

Is this Trotten desk top loud? The Linnmon is very loud when you tap on it. Is it louder or quieter?

keep your Org. table but put the monitors in the conner on the tables so you have more room

the curved table looks alot better than the l shaped
I quite like the new desk setup, would look better if you a-line the tables better but I prefer the new one, looks super clean, I also like the curve on the other desk, overall, looks really good and I like the new one, also, drop me awp!
Maybe I missed it but you never explained/show how you got the linnmon desk to have a curve like that?
I explained it in my previous desk video that you commented on. It’s just two Linnmons joined together
@@TechBlock Yeah but the linmons are just plan rectangular desk there is no curve so I guess you modded made the curve somehow? I am fairly sure some of us are wondering why you do not do the same with the new desks? EDIT: I see linmon had a corner table and that where the curve is from it's not from the linmon desks.

Keep old maybe just place three monitors on the curved section not the straight side. Place the pc on the straight side. Then move setup away from the bright window. Sorted.
The table not to deep, that's why I use a diner table as computer table because all the desks were to undeep. Cost me 89 euro's. I don't care about cable management. Table is 160 centmeters in width, 90 centimeters deep and 74 centimeters high.

yeah just make sure YOU DO NOT use the adil's original screws. they're too long and will go right through your new trotten top. get shorter screws like 1/2 inch should suffice

@@VersatileElement not any particular model, but you’ll want to make sure it has a good frame and ideally 3/4” to 1” thick
