Just for context, I only have respect for Shart and we actually have a good relationship. He has never asked for favors nor been a “shill”. He is always looking to ask things that are good for collectors. That being said in order to have an official interview you are going to be screened by our PR team. And there are certain topics that are established and agreed upon before hitting record. Shart was just doing his best to get the info. But out of respect to the other interviewers, who I’m sure would want to ask similar questions but cannot ask because they agreed to those PR terms, I was trying to lead the convo to established topics. Again I’m sure from Shart’s pov he was only trying to do what thought was good for the fans. And I’m sure he thought he wasn’t going over any lines and had no intention of breaching any agreements. Overall I think the interview was insightful and gives good info. So only luv and respect ✌️
Hey Dan, why are you guys removing/censoring the breasts in the last female MLs? Using an awful upper torso with two giant holes in the back, going as far as producing a new upper torso for the Moonstone bodymold characters to cover their breasts, I mean there were no issues with 2020s Rogue and Black Cat or even Shriek but now a female figure with breasts is not allowed? Spider Woman from the 2 pack looks awful compared to the one from 2015 due to the symbol not working in the new chest, no shape at all, Lady Bullseye seems to have that awful torso with holes on her back too, you guys are ruining figures for no reason at all at this point.
At 15:28 you kind of scold him for bringing up the costs of paint deco, but to be fair, you're the one that just brought up the cost of paint deco when discussing Spider-Man, and it seemed like he was following your lead with the conversation you started.
Yeah man, nothing but love and respect. Dan, you gave me words of support and kindness when I arrived, you gave me words of support and kindness when I left. I try to give that kindness and support back with some extra insight on how collectors are feeling. People are calling me hostile, some people calling you bitter, but no matter what they write, the truth is that the conversation ended with respect and love. Hope the travel back home was smooth as could be. ❤🙏🏽 (To the cynics: For real, I meant what I wrote, and those thinking I didn’t need to stop the conspiracy theory mindset and go pose a figure. I meant what I wrote, that shit happened, it’s that simple.)
@@jakeZ79 Well, to be fair, at that point Hasbro's already been paid by whatever retailer that needs to put those figures on sale and whatnot. So, from a business perspective, it makes sense that they don't much care. Not saying it's great, or ethical or not but just saying lol
@@marveloustrailersog They will care when retailers stop ordering the product. The Marvel Knight wave might be the start or the cracks in the line showing.
Jada Toys Street Fighter figs are proof you can have almost import level quality of figures at the $25 price point. Excellent sculpt, nice texturing, great articulation, and some nice paint variation/wash. Hasbro gives us none of that for $25. They could, but they won’t.
i though he's a good guy tho. but with this interview nah man. maybe hasbro should hire a legit collector in the team or a consultant coz they still release trash figures & releasing old figs that do we really need tho.
Crazy how Shart is a guy who has been loving and reviewing this line forever. Hes asking questions to better the line and try to understand costs for the fans, and Dan is sitting there having a bitch fit. True colors.
Ordinarily I'd say that this was a rough interview, and really attacking them, but the prices are REALLY REALLY out of control right now, and frankly they NEED to somehow justify it. And I don't think they did. I think they gave good reasoning as to why we don't see articulation upgrades line-wide immediately, but the general price issues are a real major problem that they still don't have satisfactory answers for. The MASSIVE disparity in one figure coming with an acceptable number of accessories and a BAF part, and then a character coming with NOTHING for the same price is just super fucked up. SO MANY figures aren't coming with the alternate heads, hands, and effects parts that they SHOULD be coming with. - Like Blade not having a close mouth head. - Power Man not having a yelling head. - Spider-Mans NEVER coming with gripping hands to hold a web line, and half the time you don't even get the full set of thwipping hands, wall-crawling hands, and fists. It's fucking AWFUL. And jesus, yes, I don't know how we STILL haven't gotten a proper fully sculpted 616 Spider-Man. And I don't BEGIN to understand how they've never given us webshooting effects that loop around the wrist pegs, or long web lines for Spider-Figures to hold in --vertical hinge-- gripping hands like they're swinging. The stuff they continuously fumble with the world's #1 superhero is genuinely baffling to me. And then the retro carded stuff is a complete scam, where they only ever come with like HALF as many accessories IF they come with ANY (which they frequently don't), and then no BAF parts at all, and they're STILL charging the same fucking price. If they were like $17, yea, sure, fine. But for $25? Fuck that. Tarantula is a basic generic body with new feet and head, and literally NOTHING ELSE. No alternate karate hands, no screaming head to match his packing art, no alternate black bandana head, no BAF part. I genuinely couldn't give less of a fuck about excuses of retailers struggling with multiple price points. Tough shit. Different products need different prices. That's how shit works. If they want to charge $25 for figures that have all the accessories and BAF parts they should come with, I can deal with that. But if they're going to sell characters that have generic bodies, no accessories, and no BAF parts, they needs to be like $17. And OBVIOUSLY that's possible. You can't make exceptions to release "deluxe" figures that cost $30 or whatever, and then tell us it's impossible to make exceptions for "basic" figures that are stripped down offerings. That's blatant nonsense. I never like badgering these guys because I DO think that THEY are trying their best. But SOMEONE at Hasbro is making a big fucking mess of things, and quite a bit of stuff needs to be fixed.
A multi paragraph response speaks to some of the unnecessary personal Fandom that biases peoples views and not actually factors in real world business decisions.
No hate at all but, it sort of seems like people are starting to expect sculpts and accessories on par with a company like Sh Figuarts or Mafex but for legends prices. Would it be nice to have 6 pairs of hands, multiple heads, effects, and articulation like the new widow? Of course. I just don't see how that could ever be the case when you're paying 30$ or less.
Honestly props shartimus. I'm tired of seeing these guys get undeserved praise. They need push back when they deserve it and when they defend the issues they need counter arguments which a lot of fans are feeling.
I agree and disagree. They work in the restraints of the huge company. You can push them but you can't blame them as they can have great ideas but after going through corporate filter we get just another repaint.
@@Tazio25 Being the face of the team it's on them to take the criticism for that unfortunately regardless of who makes that decision. And they come up with excuses to justify it, so they should be prepared for the push back on that.
@@privateprivate31337Honestly, i don’t get why people think they can have super articulation, every accessory you could need and a brand new sculpt for 25$.
I probably would have reacted the same way. Sharkimus should know better the things he was saying was pure idiotic especially for someone who’s been collecting all his life basically and has zero understanding of how business works in the toy biz
Shoutout Dwight and Ryan actually trying to find an understanding and give some answers to the questions Shart was asking but Dan seemed like he was completely over it lol I don’t blame him tho they prob get constant criticism for things that ultimately the higher ups at Hasbro are responsible for
Naw... how do the other hasbro lines have better looking figures within their respective lines with a lot of new stuff, while marvel legends reuses the same figure (buck) over and over again with hardly any paint, scuplt, or accessories?
@@tilmonra lot of their lines heavily reuse/ retool figures. The black series does it , lightning collection, g. I. Joe. They use a lot of reuse. Star Wars and marvel are great examples of how Disneys licensing fees are outrageous. That’s why line like classified can come with more stuff and they can dedicate more new tooling for more characters more often. But they still use reused bodies because that’s the industry standard. Mafex, hot toys, Mezco, super7 and so on and so forth reuse a lot of their molds even tho they are higher quality.
@tilmonr this comment is very ignorant. Marvel and Star Wars are some of the most expensive merchandising licenses in the world, Star Wars is actually the priciest, I believe, or at least right behind pokemon. Hasbro OWNS GI Joe outright, so they're paying NOTHING to make GI Joe figs, whereas they're paying exorbitant amounts for Marvel and SW. The difference is huge, and it's reflected in the figure qualities.
One person said this online: “This is Dan biting his tongue and keeping his job. He's irritated and not wanting to misspeak. I can appreciate that. With a guy like Shartimus, I'd be irritated too”
I agree the exclusives and multipacks are way out of hand. The pricing is a little high but so is the cost of living compared to when the price point was 15 bucks.
@orainpax0430 The cost of living has gone up, and so have luxury items, like ML. But ML were $15 in 2013, now they're 24 in 2023, that's nearly a 160% mark up in ten years, that's insane
@@chewymew I never in my life considered any of my collection a luxury, more of a sacrifice…I’m not rich, my collection was built on a budget since I started. I left for a bit when Hasbro first took over the line…the prices & quality just weren’t there. When they started to match quality with price they slowly raised the prices again & again. At this stage paying $150+ for a wave sometimes twice a month just isn’t for me. I love what I have & just have to live the experience through guys like Shartimus 🕸👊🕸
More like getting pissed over the interviewer asking shit he knows they wont or can't speak on. Like its his first rodeo. And the dumb fuckin question of "what do you guys hear people dislike the most?" WTF
Dwight and Ryan actually did well kept calm and professional and tried to answer the questions,RESPECT!Shartimus thanks for finally doing a good interview loved it great video, I hope you get another chance to interview them again brother 🙏
The part if the interview that I disagree with is Dwight staying they give the classic figures the same treatment as the MCU. MCU gets new sculpts more often then the classic ones and its not even close. Maybe this is due to necessity. A Classic sculped and painted webline Spider-Man is a no brainer, hopefully that happens soon.
Do you really think that they'll make a new Spiderman sculpt when they've reused the same body's and web accessories for years? 🤔 I agree but they've just reused the same ones for so long why would they actually spend more money to sculpt new bodies? But yeah they definitely don't give the classics the same love as the mcu figures and its disappointing
There's only so much new sculpting you need on a character wearing a skin tight spandex costume though. And Spider-Man's costume in comics NEVER HAD raised weblines. That was only a thing because of the live action Remey movies. How do we know, look at every other live action Spider-Man costume before that movie came out. If anything, the raised webs when that move came out looked weird to people at the time.
@@Ebonyleopard This is my thoughts reuse stands out more for Gi Joe as the OG line hard none or little lol, But superheroes get away with it more as well yeah they all look kinda the same :P
I don’t understand the whole classical spidey thing… is RYV not close enough? Like it’s as classic as possible with amazing articulation. AF 15 is literally THE og Spider-Man and it has some of the best articulation. I just don’t get it
Im pretty sure if it were up to them they would make the figures we want, but they have to adhere to corporate guidelines. At this point get what you like and skip what you dont like. It seems like they get pressure from both a customers standpoint and corporate putting the brakes on them when they want to get innovative.
You can absolutely tell from this interview, more than any other, how much bureaucracy they deal with throughout the design, production, and marketing process. These guys are kinda just stuck explaining corporate greed and trying to justify it in an impossible way
This right here. Wish all the community felt this way. At this point, almost all toy lines are going up and it’s just not toys it’s EVERYTHING, mothafuckas act like inflation doesn’t affect everything. You just have to be picky on what you buy, and if it means not buying a marvel legend at all so be it, move on
"If we put more articulation into every figure, then there'd be a higher cost for every figure across the line" Dwight idk where you were in 2022 and 2023, but the cost of the line is ALREADY INCREASED. It doesn't help that McFarlane makes larger figures with new body molds for $20-25. We understand tooling, we understand paint, I personally dont give a damn about pinless. I'm glad Shart asked the hard hitting questions, cause Hasbro is PRICE GOUGING. "I'd rather have quality over quantity" that's damn right Shartimus.
Shartimus asking legit questions. dan and the crewgetting annoyed is needed. Interviews cant just be positive and praise. We need to address the complaints and concerns. Shows the big picture of the company.
@@pimppastorjjI think he was pretty nice about it. He was just asking why not this or that or why does Shocker get a re-tooled body when it’s going to be hard to reuse. They were good questions he was trying to get an understanding for, these guys just got defensive super fast
Bro what tough topics was he tackling? He asked the same questions he’s asked before and other reviewers have asked and we already have answers too lol
I have been watching your videos for years, so thank you for all you’ve done! I respect your interview so much. You kept your cool, stood your ground and asked the hard questions, to the point that the Hasbro reps were getting very defensive and quite frankly rude with their responses. You are the voice for us, the consumers, and Hasbro acted like these were just your opinions. I’m sorry you had to put up with their caginess. I know these reps have bosses, but they are the face of this line so they should be able to deal with these questions easily. They definitely reassured me that they aren’t for the fans, but for their brand, which makes sense for a big company.
Dwight and Ryan are real professionals in this interview. Dan is way too offended and acts like a immature crybaby, i was really surprised to see that. It isn't personal, they are working in a company and they release bad figures sometimes too and they know it, being honest about it and telling people they are trying their best is the right way talk about these stuff. I commented on one of Shartimus's posts about how he should be more critical and tell Hasbro their wrongs and it is great to see he listened his fans
This is so freaking awkward. Good job asking those tough questions, Shart. I would love to see Anthony’s Customs react to this lol. I almost feel like he was “that guy” Dwight was referring to at the end
Dan was tight 🤣 he was clearly the most visibly upset and it was funny 😭 he made them uncomfortable and I think that’s good. Because no one gives a shit about a multi billion dollar company complain about product costs when they are clearly always in the up and up. They never fall under or even break even. They are constant profiting. So they can take a loss or even break even with one quarter cycle to make everything nice. Less figures a year but better figures a year. Simple concept. But they wanna use old parts and sell it at a premium price and that’s the issue. They are being greedy. Simple. They need to be pushed. A lot of us do get how it works and we do understand it will affect the bottom line. But it’s not that big of a hit overall to give us what we want which creates brand loyalty. Because many of us have stopped collecting legends at that same capacity. And that is a fact. So either they don’t care and they’re doing just fine (which seems to be the overall attitude) then they don’t need us 🤷🏻♂️ but if they really do care about the fans, then they would listen a bit more than they do. Because I’ll give you a good example. The moonstone body mold is a far superior body mold than the standard female body. It’s older and better. Then what’s their excuse for under using it? When they happily overuse other bodies like the Hyperion mold or the Bucky cap mold. I feel like they just make weird decisions without that are contrary to the reasons they give and it’s frustrating but it is what it is 🤷🏻♂️
Dude I respect you even more now after how you handled yourself there. Looks like it got uncomfortable at times but you didn’t back down. Thanks for speaking up for all of us👍
Honestly though, with what they're allowed to say, it sounds like they have budget limitations, and a give and take system that they have to make the most of, while still trying to go by profit margins. Of course, as a company, profit comes first. But, within the boundaries that their higher-ups have on them, they seem to want to do the best that they can, and sometimes, as an unfortunate side effect, certain figures and certain parts of the fandom are left in the dust. I don't think people give enough credit to these guys, because they have the impossible task of keeping the the heads of the company happy, while also trying to keep the interest of the general populace & keep everyone relatively happy.
Thank you shart! Never stop drilling them, they need to know how the customers really feel. If they’re gonna make expensive figures they should at least have top tier quality.
Wow, that was hard to watch, but probably the only real interview I’ve seen this con, most didn’t ask anything and just laid on praise, I do hope there were no hard feelings after, that said honestly we’d all probably be better off if we just gave the collecting a break, 4 figures is 100 bucks now and unless you have unlimited disposable income the amount being spent now on different brands per year is unbelievable along with storage and just the amount of time to research wait for pre-orders and planning to be available when they go up starts to cross into obsession. When I started in the Toybiz days it was a fun hobby where you walked into the store and picked up a few inexpensive figures if I saw them but now I dare say it’s a job for me. Can’t speak for everyone but I’ll admit I’m spending way too much time and money on something that used ti be a casual interest.
The question at 10:36 what I got from them earlier is figures like storm which production wise costs less but costs the same retail is essentially paying for the less profit on the MCU figure… And boy do they not like these questions lol
@@BrothersWebOfficial Well, they are a business first and foremost. As much they act like they're our friends, they're bottom line is to make money. And maybe they as individuals do care for the consumer, but they can't and aren't going to let that get in the way of them doing their jobs. They can't play favorites when they're careers are on the line.
@@BrothersWebOfficial yes they are clearly sying that maybe if they give what is trending characters right now like thor's run on aaron & d.cates more ocz all we have is the herald thor which was i love got 4 of em.. anyway like the STARSHIP HULK and thor's suit that takes after the black winter saga. if they listen well, they will not lose money & veteran collectors like me will continue to collect legends IMO
Meanwhile, McFarlane toys and neca are giving you exactly what you pay for. You might pay 20-23 for a McFarlane, but you’re not getting too many accessories which justifies the price (for todays market). You might be paying like 30 for a neca figure, but you are getting SO much in return
I will say Dwight was very level headed in this interview. I liked his answer about the pinless joints and liked that he was actually asking questions like indented or raised weblines. Ryan to me always gets defensive in interviews. Idk what is up with Dan but he seems like he has a chip on his shoulder. Good interview Shart.
I follow Dan on Twitter and other than making his political statement on his account where he's reaching out to fans, seems to dress like a kid and talk like one in his tweets. I'm sure he's much older than that. Just needs to grow up. I find him insufferable.
So for me, Dan's always been most level headed and least defensive.. In the past he's always seemed to really be a fan of the characters and aligned with what fans want, and it's Ryan and Dwight that are usually more defensive. For some reason it was the opposite here. I was pleasantly surprised with their composure and answers. Maybe Dan is frustrated because he feels like he's trying his hardest at getting the characters we want, but the higher ups are in the way and he feels like he's getting the blame for it from fans?
You mean that a good portion of what their "talking cost" was straight BS, and that's why they can't talk about details. Can't let the consumers know they exaggerate how costly it is to make, cause then we wouldn't be able to charge $30+ for a $20 figure.
Good interview my bro, caught them off guard a little bit with the questions but they were questions that needed to be asked. I definitely want to be at SDCC2023
I toy collector I really couldn't give a shit I buy what I like that's it Fart is in it for himself stop being delusional it's a job that supports his lifestyle .
I’m pretty sure we can all agree the pricing and lack of accessories are not bits of pieces that are subjective that people can’t agree on. You guys just don’t give a shit and it shows.
Shartimus may not get another interview after this. 😂 I get some of his questions but some of them came across as badgering or being a bit too pushy with a big lack of understanding related to cost and manufacturing. I found myself cringing a bit at this interview.
I'm gonna call bullshit on that part about figures not being able to have the newer articulation scheme because of costs, literally every other Hasbro 6inch action figure line has the reverse diaphragm cut or double ball pegs. The ab crunch, waist swivel combo has the same amount of parts as the reverse ab crunch and even the double ball peg, all of which require 3 pieces for the torso yes? That just tells me that they're not getting the funds to retire those old molds and be like the rest of Hasbro made figures which isn't a surprise given how many MCU figures come out top of the line with sculpt and paint work but sit on shelves.
I really like how Ryan put his points out. NECA still has pins. So does McFarlane. The big 3 have a rough time battling this criticism some times. I think they did well here. They shouldn't be punching bags all the time.
Look don't make excuses. It's Hasbro it's not like Four Horseman there way smaller of a company and they put way better quality out. The big 3 just mass produce as much as possible. Not these guys aren't the ones to be punched at. It's the suits upstairs it just happens their the face of Legends and they fall on the sword for everyone. Hasbro has the money to make the best they choose not too
Having to "agree" to NOT ask certain questions is, likely, an indicator that they're aware of their consumers being unhappy with the way things are being done & want to have as much control over the situation. Bummer. -Dustin
I think Dwight, Dan and Ryan have a damned hard job trying to walk the fine line between pleasing your customer, and pleasing your employer; anyone who's had a job where they've been the public face of a company knows how hard this can be, and the fact that these fellows manage to keep a smile in place is a credit to their characters, IMO.

@spittor47 The reason why budgets are set by Disney is because maybe the sales are low and maybe because the sales are low because they're coming out with crappy product It's called common sense, and you should try it sometime. That's the reason why shart brought those tough questions to them if sales would increase then budgets would increase. If they came out with quality products again, it's called common sense.
@@twcstc1 Nah. Bobby Vala, who used to work for hasbro and made many of your favorite marvel legends described the Disney royalty as disgusting. Either way hasbro corporate sets prices, not these guys. Your anger is misplaced objectively.
I think it would be so much more enjoyable seeing Shart interview a board member of Hasbro lol. Not some poor guys who are being pushed by said pencil pushers. It's like interrogating a kid for what his parents made him do
I do think Shart's questions were incredibly harsh and pretty insensitive. Hasbro's a tiny, almost bankrupt indie company, you need to cut them some slack. It's way too expensive for Hasbro to put the most basic of articulation into a tiny plastic toy, but you have to understand that Hasbro is just a tiny company with a networth of about $10, let's wait until Hasbro becomes a bigger company
I agree with shart, I would rather have 30 figures a year all done perfectly then 100 and a third of them done poorly but I guess that's the way it's gotta be
Lol if that was the case the fandom would stop buying ML and it would be a dying toy line. That’s like 3 waves a year. Some collect for the comics, some collect for the movies, some collect just X-Men, Some just collect Spider-Man all of that goes away. Hence a DOA toy line
I really appreciate shartimus asking the deep and pressing questions to the hasbro team. Yes we don’t know how the proverbial sausage is made but I think shartimus has a finger on the pulse of what fans of the marvel legends line really want and are asking for.
I don’t to trust the legends team at all. Also seeing a lot of people in the comment section of other interviews (I.e., MCUCollectors interview) claiming that Shartimus was being “hostile” and “attacking” the legends team. What ass backwards community are we win where Shartimus advocates for the consumers and then those same consumers criticize him for it. Fucking bonkers man. This community is filled with people that are totally willing and able to get absolutely ripped off by Hasbro because they’re clueless.
Quality over quantity always. I used to buy almost all the waves and now I don't think I've even bought 10 in the past 2 years. Money speaks louder than words and you can tell by how but hurt some of those questions made them. Marvel Legends probably went from their number one seller to the bottom. I think they need someone new to run it with some fresh ideas.
From a collector's perspective who else in their right mind wanna collect pinned joints for a ridiculous price when most figures already has it?!?! Hasbro need to take into account the quality of the figure before they release em!
I’ve watched this interview twice now and I understand. Shartimus has been criticized for being too much of a pushover and in this interview he shared legitimate criticisms. At the same time I am sure the legends guys were exhausted and took everything a little too seriously (as we all do when we are working and tired). There was no ill will on either side and no one appeared at their best. As a 3p transformers collector I yearn for this much transparency on behalf of the designers.
At 20:05 they literally said "If you don't like what we are putting out, tough titties, we still gonna make money so you can shut up or leave, cause we don't want to hear any negativity" 😂😂😂 Man the Hasbro Marvel Legends team are some villains 🤣😮💨
Valaverse and McFarlane action figures all have the same amount of articulation in all of their figures, and (depending on size/scale) all of their figures cost the same across the board. You don't see them making one figure with excellent articulation (gameverse Spider-Man) and charging more, then releasing another figure with excellent articulation (Black Widow) but charging less. They all charge the same amount (for their product line) for excellent articulation.
Hasbro is a publicly traded company. Which means they are beholden to stockholders and their interests. Valaverse and McFarlane aren't. They're private companies, which means they don't have to bump up prices periodically to appease their shareholders. Shareholders expect a return on their investment, which means the products the public company produces need to be made at a low cost, so that even an "affordable" retail price is profitable for the company and thus, their shareholders. It's literally just free-market capitalism.
@GBru-hx6rx Yeah, we all know this. My point being that they are just giving us b.s. responses to why they can't give every figure excellent articulation, as well as crafting and painting in the web lines on a Spider-Man figure without charging more. Valaverse and McFarlane are smaller companies, yet they do it and don't charge extra for it. They also fall into free market capitalism.
Don't bring up Valaverse unless you like statues and they run £35 lol... McFarlane have a better price but they also have their issues more so around the joints to the hips look.
@CowleyStudentJ They're private companies. Hasbro is publicly traded. That changes the equation quite considerably. The people who actually work on these lines aren't the ones making the pricing decisions. They likely have been told by their employers what questions they can and cannot answer. There is the possibility that if they had given more concrete answers to Shartimus's questions that said employer could have taken disciplinary action against them. For the record, this does not mean I am defending corporate greed. I personally despise stockholder capitalism. But I am not surprised by it, nor am I going to get mad at those who are just doing their jobs.
They should expect these kind of questions from their hardcore collectors (which plays a big portion of their clientele) they should be prepared to give solid answers to these even a more pro approach to costs vs “you’re not new to this Russ, you know we can’t speak on…” when the cost of legends are going up before quality (articulation, paint apps, packaging, etc) vs other toy lines like McFarlane or Jada toys.
Hasbro team almost makes you feel bad then you remember what Diamond Select is doing with original sculpt and awesome accessories at the same price point.
Booty tickled much? They know what they’re doing wrong and they know what they need to improve. “Not everything appeals to you but it appeals to everyone who else” ok? This interview really opened my eyes.
Them pretty much outlining that they’d rather pump out 300 crappy toys a year just to get 10 right is wild to me. Then that they know they get things wrong but it’s okay and valid because the characters have a POSSIBILITY of getting a rework if they appear in a movie lol wow. So if our one chance in the line isn’t right we better hope they appear in a movie to get the right version. What a sad statement for fans.
None of these guys were thrilled about these questions. A lot of them were way too vague as well. I was hoping you’d ask about the ps5 spidey being 35 dollars when they said the standard single fig price was 25
Way to go Shartimus Primus for asking these questions and holding the Marvel team honest and accountable. I think you weren't being rude, you were trying your best to get some answers to consumers issues about what Hasbro are selling 👍👍👍👍 keep doing what you doing and don't bow down to them when you have issues with the figures they are producing
I think the reaction from the entire marvel brand team shows this Sdcc for them didn't go as planned, not so positive response from fans and they were over shadowed by other brands, like GI joe, Star wars and Transformers all killing it this year. Also the team hands are tied. They can't make the figures like how we all want them to even if they want to... The upper echelons of Hasbro makes all the dumb decisions for maximum profits, hence less paint, more reuses of molds and price increase. You must say thank you to CEO Chris cocks 😅
You raise a good point. It does seem like the Marvel Legends team is overshadowed by what their licensor wants versus using their imaginations and running wild. That's where brands like GI Joe classified really get to shine is they are not hamstrung by media and a licensor that they had to satisfy.
@@Stygian360 thank you my friend and yes youre right. The other teams like GI joe and Transformers seem to have more freedom to do what they want. Even the star wars team although restricted by the license from Disney are able to put out the Haslab Ghost ship which many were asking for a long time hence its doing well. It seems ever since the failure of Engine of Vengeance haslab, things aren't going so well for the Marvel brand. I could be wrong as we don't know what goes on beyond behind closed doors 🚪.. Let's hope they can bounce back for the marvel fans. The team needs more freedom to shine.

(To the cynics: For real, I meant what I wrote, and those thinking I didn’t need to stop the conspiracy theory mindset and go pose a figure. I meant what I wrote, that shit happened, it’s that simple.)
30 quality figures a year? Sounds good to me.
This interview was very insightful. More than you can imagine.
When they said, "with everything you want, we will only be able to put out 30 figures a year". "Thats fine, do it!" There faces 😂
They would lose so much money doing that
You dont think they lose so much money by having majority of the figures peg warming going on clearance. Or showing up at Ollie's for half the price
@@jakeZ79 Well, to be fair, at that point Hasbro's already been paid by whatever retailer that needs to put those figures on sale and whatnot. So, from a business perspective, it makes sense that they don't much care. Not saying it's great, or ethical or not but just saying lol

Jada Toys Street Fighter figs are proof you can have almost import level quality of figures at the $25 price point. Excellent sculpt, nice texturing, great articulation, and some nice paint variation/wash. Hasbro gives us none of that for $25. They could, but they won’t.
LOL Dan's face at the end of the interview was priceless.

Crazy how Shart is a guy who has been loving and reviewing this line forever. Hes asking questions to better the line and try to understand costs for the fans, and Dan is sitting there having a bitch fit. True colors.
👏

Naw... how do the other hasbro lines have better looking figures within their respective lines with a lot of new stuff, while marvel legends reuses the same figure (buck) over and over again with hardly any paint, scuplt, or accessories?
@@tilmonrdefinitely comes down to licensing costs for that. Look at Star Wars Black Series for example…
@@tilmonrwell legends have also been one of the longest lines they have going. I don’t expecting to see new shit all the time.

I will always miss collecting Legends. $15 was a sweet spot. The waves, exclusives & multipacks got out of control & the prices just kept rising.

The Dan guy looks f*ckin annoyed LOL
The part if the interview that I disagree with is Dwight staying they give the classic figures the same treatment as the MCU. MCU gets new sculpts more often then the classic ones and its not even close. Maybe this is due to necessity. A Classic sculped and painted webline Spider-Man is a no brainer, hopefully that happens soon.
Could easily be a deluxe or a $100 SDCC exclusive, then reused as a store deluxe

When Dwight said "Not that guy You know who you are" i instantly thought about Talkerart. 😂

Probably talkerart lol
He did. He said he lost what respect he had for them after seeing this. I don’t blame him. I haven’t bought a ML figure in months.
I feel like they just make weird decisions without that are contrary to the reasons they give and it’s frustrating but it is what it is 🤷🏻♂️
Agree completely.

This, one of the hardest working teams in the biz
The question at 10:36 what I got from them earlier is figures like storm which production wise costs less but costs the same retail is essentially paying for the less profit on the MCU figure…
And boy do they not like these questions lol

So for me, Dan's always been most level headed and least defensive.. In the past he's always seemed to really be a fan of the characters and aligned with what fans want, and it's Ryan and Dwight that are usually more defensive. For some reason it was the opposite here. I was pleasantly surprised with their composure and answers. Maybe Dan is frustrated because he feels like he's trying his hardest at getting the characters we want, but the higher ups are in the way and he feels like he's getting the blame for it from fans?
Thank you for this interview, I've learned something new on how toy companies work.
You mean that a good portion of what their "talking cost" was straight BS, and that's why they can't talk about details. Can't let the consumers know they exaggerate how costly it is to make, cause then we wouldn't be able to charge $30+ for a $20 figure.

I get some of his questions but some of them came across as badgering or being a bit too pushy with a big lack of understanding related to cost and manufacturing. I found myself cringing a bit at this interview.
Straight facts
Same. But I do respect him for not sucking-up to them this time.
Also kudos to Shart for not lobbing softballs. The price regulation questions were expert. Lots of people don't ask these tough questions.
Mattel have pinless in masterverse
@@NinjaKnightdon't forget way more molds than the Marvel team
The problem is not just the pins, but so many inferior figures marvel legends makes compared to other lines.

“I’d rather have quality over quantity” 😂 💀 6:40
The guy in the middle looks so offended! LOL 🤣🤣🤣
I give them credit for explaining how toy companies work, doesn’t mean we have to like it but it makes sense
I think a lot of what they’re saying is true, but it’s also bs when you look at the mcu figs
@@ravensoathalso much like their stance about going plastic free but cave only because sales are down.
@@Hobgoblin1985 right, labeled the crap out of the box stating their helping the planet blah blah
They’re not sending you any more toys after this one lol. Much respect.
I would like to see X-Force, X-Factor and Excalibur finished out with Feral, Rachel and Wolfbane. Also give us an Outback Pyslocke.
From a collector's perspective who else in their right mind wanna collect pinned joints for a ridiculous price when most figures already has it?!?! Hasbro need to take into account the quality of the figure before they release em!
I remember when they were $7.50 at walmart, and the "expensive" option was $8.99 at kbtoys
Yup toy biz when minimum wage was $6 an hour here
so so refreshing to see interviews like this. thank u shartimus
Dan was heated at I don’t think he fucks with Shartimus😂
3:55 dude, gi joe classified begs to differ.
A breakdown of this video from Vala would be interesting...
At 20:05 they literally said "If you don't like what we are putting out, tough titties, we still gonna make money so you can shut up or leave, cause we don't want to hear any negativity" 😂😂😂 Man the Hasbro Marvel Legends team are some villains 🤣😮💨
All three of them should be made into figures on the next Bring on the Bad Guys wave...
If as an Interviewer you can’t ask general questions, what kind of questions can you even ask at that point?
You know there having a team meeting after this interview😂
Shart is for the people lol
Excuses, excuses, excuses, Good job Shartimus!
@@TheHairyGorilla
Got over 20 of 'em and nothing "statue" about them. I wish they had neck joints, but they all move great
@CowleyStudentJ They're private companies.
Great interview ive gone from buying every figure they sold to buying 4 figures this year somethines you need to listen to what's the fans want 🙏
Wrong Ryan, Masters of the Universe Masterverse has been pinless from day one.
you're a real one for this
3:40 *cough cough* McFarlane standard articulation across the board , 25 a pop (local prices) *cough cough*
Quality over quantity!!!!
30 figures that were made to a high standard would be amazing. 😂😂😂😂 I don't think they were ready for the response
This is gonna go down in history
😂 Good interview... they hate when you call them out on their bullsh🤬t!
