  • Missouri S&T students push the limits of human powered speed on five miles of deserted highway in Battle Mountain, Nevada. The team engineered their vehicle for simplicity and speed, reaching 59.34 miles per hour - the second fastest collegiate time in a human powered vehicle.

The fastest collegiate team, as far as I know, is the University of Toronto, who took their bike, initially designed for the HPV competition, up to 116.9 km/hr. It was an impressive feat.
