- Thanks for joining me on my TH-cam channel for a Jinhao fountain pen haul from Amazon. This is a little review of my experience with trying out the different models of Jinhao fountain pens. I am not an expert and this video is meant to be based on what I like and don't like.

Enjoyed your video. Some nice pens and unique color ways.
That Jinhao 80? Yes - the nib does come off and can be replaced. It’s in the style of a Lamy Safari nib. You can try putting a piece of tape on the nib and pulling. I think there are TH-cam videos illustrating this method. I can recall that Chris Saenz has done a lot of nib swaps on her Jinhao 80s.
Thank you for that because I cannot get it to come off lol... I will try putting some tape on the nib. Thank you!!
I have never used a fountain pen. I have just ordered the 82 with fine nib, interested to try it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Oh that is awesome. You will love it for sure.
Good review 👍🏽
I appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
I have a Goulet #5 Broad. Jowo in my Jinhao 82 and it is a fabulous writer. I am going to switch to a Jowo Medium at my next ink change just for the variably of the experience.
That is awesome. I tried the Jinhao and the ink flow was so fast in the 100 model. I love the F though.
Thanks for the update. lol...the video helped me know what I don't want. I like the price of the Jinhao, if I leave it on my desk and it walks off. I have lot 2 Kawecos and was not happy. I put maybe for the 601, 95, and the 86 had ??. all the others were no. The 100 is a maybe. It's tough to decide. Not sure where the
LOL. The Jinhao 100 is the best hands down when it comes to reliability in the the way that it functions overall. The quality is definitely the best. I really do like the Jinhao 86 as well especially since I am a small writer. That is why I had to try them all lol. I wanted to see what I was missing, if I was missing anything. Some of them, I would return only because I am having some issues with ink flow. The jinhao 35 and 75.... they are amazing writers but I think the tines are too tight.
@@elizajournals thank you I will check them out. Don’t steer me wrong
:)

Eliza in Jinhaoland. Good for you, I have a few 80s and 100s coming my way too, all less than the price for a one-day pen show pass. I follow Chris Saenz too and she is an expert around nib switching besides all the incredible things she does with inks. I got a bunch of 82s and they’re great for giving away to those poor kids who have to sell candy on the subway. I throw the pen with a few cartridges and a nice writing pad in a baggie and they are most thankful, in flawless perfect English. Anyway, thanks for sharing your collection.
That is super awesome. They are really great pens. I am thinking of getting some for my youth at work.
I have a few Jinhao pens. They all are great pens!
They really are! I love them.
I think you’ll find that your ink has a lot to do with some of the issues you mention in your video. Ink can make the apparent size of a nib wider or narrower than what is marked because the ink may be a particularly wet or dry ink or may spread more or less due to the specific attributes of the aniline dye providing the color of the ink. Also, Diamine Ancient Copper is an ink that for whatever reason can be prone to hard starts in my experience.
That's interesting. It is perfect in my TWSBI and Lamy. I do try to leave as much shimmer out as I can though. The only ink that has clogged my pen was Diamine Alpine green... that one was horrible.
My experience with the Jinhao 82s was that the nib tines ARE too tight. The medium nibs are a slight bit better. I replaced some of my Jinhao 82 nibs with Hongdian nibs and I am very happy with the flow. There are different ways of widening the gap between the tines - heavy strokes (Inkquiring Minds), uniform pressure (SBRE Brown), brass shims (Goulet Pens), and someone on Instagram used the plastic from a file folder? You know, the plastic sleeve that the file folder label goes into.
Spark plug gap tools are also very useful in nib tuning.
Be careful widening the tines on an extra fine or fine nib - what you end up doing may well turn your nib into a wider size than you’d like. Going slow is key. This isn’t a concern of mine - I am a medium and up guy.
Oh yea, I tried to fix it myself and guess what happened, ink started pouring.... lol. That's why I didn't want to mess with the nib myself because I knew that would happen. I ordered another one lol...
