    Hey I’m 17 years of age and I’ve been working in construction since I was around 12 years of age helping my father and gaining experience since then. I guess my question is if I’m able to get my father to sign for the experience

      @@digitalconstructive5486 thanks for letting me know, also I have another question. How can I gain the 4 years of experience as a journeyman?

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EIesar I would say continue working with your dad or another General Contractor. Learn as much as you can. Consider finding an apprenticeship. Try to keep documented records of your hours and pay. You are young and the GC license isn't going anywhere. What is most important is to gain as much experience, knowledge, and expertise as you can. We go in-depth into the description of a journeyman here: digitalconstructive.com/apprentice-vs-journeyman/
      Hope this helps!

    As homeowners can we hire a non-licensed person to construct a new room addition (adding square footage to your home) or a totally new home without a license? Is just a normal person allowed to do this job? I am in California. Your reply would be highly appreciated.

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the CSLB if the project is over $500 in labor and materials it has to be done by a licensed contractor. If you are physically doing the work on your own property no license is needed. Assuming all of the correct building permits are pulled.

      Don't let HOA tell you you can't build your own home without being licensed. That's BS. Tell them to read their own bylaws. Only if you plan on selling your home for profit once complete, then you can build all you want. Must be according to code and pull your permits.

    so what happens if i been self employed for 10 years doing construction and i dont have anyone to sign my work experience. how do i get that signature part done?

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Charlie. So you can use either: licensed contractor, foreman, supervisor, fellow journeyman, fellow employee, or business associate. There are also several ways you can document your experience to the CSLB if they ask for further documentation. We cover that in this video: th-cam.com/video/Vm0zWnVQXCc/w-d-xo.html

    I was told that only licensed contractors are allowed to work on an apartment building. The owner cannot work on it. For example, changing the windows from single pane to double pane. Is this true. What California Code can I get more information on this. Thank you.

      I imagine you could find some information on that here in the California Business and Professions Code:

      @@stanleylim8487 The CSLB will most likely want to see that you have experience overseeing residential and commercial construction projects. Framing, concrete, electrical, etc. However, the only way to know for sure is to submit an application. They may recommend you go for the B-2 Residential Remodeling classification which you can learn about here: th-cam.com/video/-bayHy1U17k/w-d-xo.html

    Hey, does being an estimator count as experience? I’ve been an estimator for a concrete construction company for 3 years now. Next year it’ll be 4, will this count as experience?

    • @digitalconstructive5486
      @digitalconstructive5486  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Chris. Ultimately it will be up to the CSLB to decide whether your experience as an estimator can count toward a General B license, however, I do know that they will want to see experience overseeing construction projects as a GC.
