Well, assuming this is you: "Attrell is a doctoral candidate in Medieval and Renaissance History studying the western esoteric tradition at the University of Waterloo"(congrats&gl) So... about The Picatrix, (I'm aware you guys used the Latin translation) do you know if there's an "original" copy of the book? As in - an untranslated extant edition of the: "Ġāyat al-ḥakīm" p.s. ...being the most knowledgable person I'll ever get to query on this subject, any response will be much appreciated. ty
Hello - there are indeed a number of Arabic manuscripts, but they have not yet been published. Liana Saif (twitter.com/MaslamaQ) is working on a critical edition and translation of various Arabic manuscripts right now, though it's hard to say when that will be out (sooner than later, I imagine). The German edition by Ritter and Plessner is also a translation of the original Arabic, but Liana has access to many more MSS that they did not have access to during the mid 20th century.
