I had the wonderful privilege to meet with Greg Metze at a local in store promotion for Old Elk. We talked for over an hour about bourbon and he was even kind enough to autograph a bottle and take a photo with me. It is an OHLQ 2022 Barrel pick 114.3 proof of the Straight Bourbon Whiskey. He was very clear before I left and said to me this was my signature bourbon for Old Elk and it was make to drink. Don't just save it, enjoy it. It's an amazing pour.
I had an Old Elk Meijer barrel pick at 110.8 proof at a gathering and really loved it. Didn't realize it was kind of special and picked up the base 88 proof offering the first time I saw it. Extremely disappointed in the 88 proof. My 88 proof bottle says "Blended straight bourbon whiskey", it doesn't say small batch on it anywhere. Anyway it was way over-priced and I thought it was below "meh" and into "no thanks I'd rather have just about anything else".
Thanks for the review - was just searching for OE and saw a local shop has a barrel pick of the Wheated...from what I hear, also very smooth?!? Time to scrape some $ together. Cheers and have a good weekend all!
@@Jbroker404 Went with a special Hight West instead - Double Rye aged 9 mo. in their peated barrels from what they use for their Campfire. Next trip to CO, will head up to Fort Collins and see what I can find.

I bought a bottle of the Old Elk Infinity Bottle, and after trying it I immediately went back and bought a second for the bunker. It's a top 3 bourbon for me this year. The balance between the newer Old Elk bourbon and the sourced Kentucky bourbons is exquisitely done. I do think it should be around $120, around here its $150 which feels a tad high, but price aside, I can't wait to see what they do every year with this release. I have also had the Old Elk Sherry Finish, and a store pick wheater. Really have a lot of respect for master distiller Greg Metze.

I’ve had a pour of the small batch and agree, wasn’t my jam. But I need to find some of the finished options. Same with Starlight. Their Port finished is 🔥!
Picked up some Old Elk two days ago. I got the wheated bourbon at 92 proof and it is very good. It cost $60 which is a bit more than I like to pay but it is very good. It has a creamy texture to it like Eagle Rare.
I just picked up a 10 year Old Elk Wheated Whiskey today. I can't find anything about it online other than the bottle description. Have you come across this one at all?
Living here in Colorado as I do. This bourbon can be easily accessible. Ya they are in Ft .Collins Colorado 👍🏻🥃My twin gave me a pour it was ok not bad but not blown away
Thanks for reviewing Old Elk. One of my favorite brands and have enjoyed all their offerings. The Sour Mash Reserve at 105 proof is amazing. People sleep on these bottles, which is good for me. Can't wait to try the Infinity Blend. Cheers
Great review judge.I have never seen the Armagnac finished version before. I have had the Old Elk wheated bourbon before and it is not bad just overpriced. Should be a #35 - $40 but is $65 - $70 in may area.
I've got a store pick of their wheated bourbon and it was pretty good. A little hotter than MM Cask Strength but it was good! let's see how their juice comes out.

And we have plenty here. Don't sell at all! I take your word on a lot of stuff but $80 for something I never tried before man I don't know but .I believe you when u say it's good. But $80🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿

Old elk batch 5 is amazing IMHO. Also have a single barrel wheated 7yr which is delicious. Their small batch is meh.
