    This made me think twice about MF. I just started building my portfolio for about 2 months now. Meron na akong 4 companies stocks then I have MF na 2 months ko na nahuhulugan. I plan to buy 2 stocks per month until I will have around 15 pero ang MF ko is plan ko hulugan monthly. If that is the case lalaki percentage ng portfolio sa MF. Now, I am thinking twice if I will still continue MF, e ang goal ko pa naman is 5 yrs lang. Please advice po if kailangan ko pa ituloy ang MF, or just simply maintain ko nalang at a minimal, like not more than 15% of my portfolio.

      It depend kc kng kelan nya inihulog pera,as you can see ,he invested on a different months and days. That's why he's money did not grow as expected, better to invest as a lumpsum or exactly day of the month where he initially invested like for example: jan1 ,then nxt month Feb 1 exactly, otherwise if you invested Feb 2 onwards, it will not count the month for Feb, it will count this amount in march,

Saktong na-withdraw ko ung tubo ko nung 4.3758 ang navps ng Sunlife unlike ngaun, as of today (July 5, 2022) is 3.17/share na lang. Sisi na lang ako at di ko winithdraw lahat last 2019. in my opinion, you cannot see a large growth for your investment in a span of 10 years, but when allot for 20-30 years you can really see the large growth of your investment.. in comparison, there is this fund from a mutual that sells only about like a decimal example 0.5, 0.7, or 0.9 etc 15-20 years ago but currently its like 4-6 navps

    mataas po siguro ang expense ratio ng mutual funds na sinalihan niya, yumayaman ang mga fund managers kasi hindi Pro Investors ang fund kung hndi Pro Managers. Kaya siguro sikat ang Vanguard Mutual funds ETFs like VOO, VTI, VT and BND kasi nga sobrang baba ng ER nila!

    • @MrElectricN8
      @MrElectricN8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree. Akala ko ang goal ng mga fund managers ay kumita ka pero manager lang talaga sila. ipapasok nila ang pera sa stocks pero wala naman silang diskarte na pagbababa eh hahatakin nila ang fund at ililipat sa mas kikita. I think best is magconcentrate sa isang company lang na paglalagyan ng investment although maliit ang return pero wala namang "fund manager" na gusto lang eh kumita sa paghawak ng pera mo.
      I invested 200k before, isang bagsak. After 3 years naging 197k dahil walang nangyayari sa market. Kung tumaas man eh may annual fees ang Mutual Fund so wala rin talagang kikitain.

    Been investing using PCA since 2009 sa Sunlife Equity Fund. In hindsight, the best time to sell was around 2018. If equities just remains range bound, better buy dividend stocks, REITS than doing PCA through mutual funds, UITFs. Why? D ka kikita sa pooled funds in a range bound market, pooled funds don't give out dividends as well, tulog lng yong pera. Whereas, if you buy dividend paying stocks, even if market doesn't go up, you still get to receive income through dividends and that will provide you cashflow, not to mention potential price appreciation of the stock. Some advocate PCA but it only works when equities start to trend upwards. Just my two cents.

      @TiyoPilo  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the reason why doing your own research is important. For long time horizons, index funds are the solution. What index fund? That's for you to decide based on your research because not all index funds are the same; some indices should be treated like trading individual stocks and some indices should be held for a long time. Although you could still make money by buying and holding for a long period of time because in the case where you don't get paid dividends regularly, compounding starts to have a significant effect after about 10-15 years wherein your portfolio earns 20k - 50k on its own annually (again this is based on your own numbers because you have to be realistic here, i mean, how are you gonna get your fund to earn 50k annually if you only invested 100k over that time horizon at 8% interest rate?) But my point is, if you don't earn through dividends, then you earn through compounding as long as what you're withdrawing is way less than what you're earning. A helpful tip would be to look at a fund's performance and top holdings and ask these questions:
      1.) How is the fund performing after 10 years? How can it perform in 20 or more years?
      2.) What caused any fluctuation in the fund?
      3.) What is the benchmark and how is it performing? (This question should reflect your objectives on why you started investing)
      It still holds true that we cannot predict future performance but we can see patterns in order to project future results based on historical data

    But this could be a wake up call, meron din po ako mga MFs investment dito sa PH at nakaka sad ng ma-realize ko na mataas pala ang mga expense ratio nila. Fund managers lang ang yayaman. Vanguards expense ratio is 0.03%, mga MFs sa pinas are mostly above 2%, ang laki po ng difference di po ba. Salamat Tiyo Pilo for this wake up call.

    • @TiyoPilo

I would have doubled my money already if I invested in MP2. Sad opportunity loss.... Times have changed. MF's are passe'. The other MF's I invested are far worse with no promise.
