Cziffra at the height of his fame and powers in this demanding all Liszt recital from 1959. His flame throwing technique seems effortless but there is delicacy and poetry too. He was also on amazing form in February 1959 when I heard him play Liszt's concerto 1, Hungarian Fantasy with the Halle Orchestra and George Weldon. The ovation was thunderous and Cziffra played many encores. So many that Dvorak's Symphony No. 4 in G major wasn't played. A shorter work by Mozart or Hadyn was substituted. An unforgettable experience by a great pianist and a great communicator.
the f minor transcendental etude is absolutely beautiful...one would have thought Cziffra the technician would have played it for speed but he shows how great a musician he was. Vastly underrated pianist. Maybe the best since Liszt himself. A true original. Brazo Maestro.
TH-cam has been shadow banning a lot of sheet music channels lately. You can tell by the sudden disappearance of the chapter feature and the low view count, even for such a big channel. Very strange, but thank you for the upload regardless!
What does “shadow banning” mean? I don’t notice anything missing. Still get Kempff’s Beethoven sonatas, and very many other performances with sheet music. Please, can you tell us what you mean? Thanks!
@@quaver1239 TH-cam won't promote the videos like they usually do, hence the low view count. This often happens due to copyright claims, a lot of audio tracks have also been blocked in Russia since the Ukraine invasion as some sort of protest by the copyright holders I guess.
Yes, chapters disappear randomly on random channels and it's the second time on my channel now to happen for longer than a month. It doesn't only happen to score video channels and YT apparently doesn't know what causes the issue. They had reappeared briefly after a near 4 month hiatus and are now gone again for several weeks. And yes, I've noticed the drop of views aswell (only during the time in which chapters don't show up) and it's really demotivating. Shorts don't seem to be affected though. Videos banned in Russia are those with studio recordings by Horowitz and Rubinstein.
@@PianoJFAudioSheet Keep it up mate :) Without you, many people wouldn't know about many incredible interpretations (and here especially Cziffra). YT mostly pushes crappy mainstream content..
An absolutely insane choice of pieces to play in a row let alone in a concert hall. Astounding.
How does he remember all of these notes??? INCREDIBLE.
@@gmnotyet I can remember them all but they are all over the place !

La vitesse du Gnomenreigen est stupéfiante, est pourtant tout y est… purement génial
That Dante Sonata is some of the most impressive Liszt-playing I have ever heard!
cziffra not only picking pieces that are hard and taxing by themselfs but playing one after another with amazing virtuosity and tone
What an incredible performance and selection. Cziffra was truly in a league of his own and so humble too; I find a lot of the greats are

Are you going to continue doing other Cziffra recitals I'm guessing?
Thanks!!
Si j’étais pianiste je fermerais boutique.
epic
Seems strange to put the dots up for a Cziffra recital. I suppose it’s interesting for people to see just how free he was in altering things.
Thanks for uploading this. Incredible! Is this available on a CD?
