I just followed this video with my Samsonite which was stuck with one shaft inside and it worked!!! I am so thankful for the ideas given in this video. I called around luggage repair places and none was available this weekend. This is a great vid! Even though my suitcase had two handles, the assembly was very similar so it can work on all.
similar problem. this video helped me figure out the solution. the poles suffered a blow and bent preventing the tube from being released. all i did was push it back down a bit to straighten. its still dented but it works perfectly.
Between my long love of the sound of the pipes' (due Karma?) and your good Scot's heart, I've fixed me bag! Whats a parade w'out the Pipes!!! 'Lang may yer lum reek! ;o) I've got a 'double rod' type handle on my bag, but the same approach was just the trick. Also put a wee' drop of sewing machine oil on the pins and 'exercised' the movement to 'work in'. Seems as though the simple mechanism will work just fine for my upcoming travels. Also a great opportunity to tighten up other hidden screws which I found were loose or not tightened well at manufacture. Won't have to go to the expense of getting another bag now mate! Guess there's a little Scottish in all of us! wink-wink. Many thanks!
Right on the money. Found the problem after seeing the disassembly process here. Very simple problem, easy to fix. Broken handle release button. Thanks!
I may have to approach mine again when I feel fresh. It seems like on my Mountainsmith bag I cannot take the handle all the way out, as you have. And the handle doesn't disassemble so easily. *sigh*
