What an eloquent, gracious and humble speech from a man who claimed the ultimate prize in his sport, remaining unbeaten, and coming out from what is undoubtedly the toughest of sports, physically and mentally in great shape. He is a credit to himself, his sport and his country. Congratulations Joe Calzaghe, deservedly inducted into the HOF, and undoubtedly revered by those in the sport who appreciate the realities of boxing and recognise a great champion.

I wish as Joe does that he could've been born 5 years earlier when the 168 pound division was very deep and on fire. I think he would've been on top, but not necessarily undefeated. In my opinion he was the best 168 pounder of all time, but his division was weak at that time to no fault of his own. So many people thought he had to cross the Atlantic to be a "real" champion, BUT Joe was the lineal champion because Collins decided to retire than face Joe. Joe was the champion, all comers have to come to Joe to take his belt, not the other way around.

You better read into his history more than what you see on television at a weigh-in and the fights themselves. You will get the whole picture. No great has DUCKED competition and got knocked down as much as he did. He was truly one of the sloppiest fighters I have ever seen and he gets no credit due to his cowardness to fight statesman.

Could punch too till he had to adapt his style due to continuous broken hands. Never lost a single fight. I am proud just be a fellow welshman. Met how once years ago fleetingly. Shook my hand was a regular guy. Now I look at fighters of today like Floyd with all that extra crap and now jake paul making a mockery of boxing and I can see the decline of the once noble art started when men like Joe and Roy Jones junior retired.
