Just noticed the gameplay footage for Grievous Lady was a fanmade chart Please do not be discouraged from trying the game, the actual in-game version is not 7 minutes long
Don't worry, the gameplay video was just edited to his reaction video. He wasn't actually watching any video in the actual reaction video, just the music. As you can see he's not commenting to the visuals, just the audio.
Yes, for Metal Hellsinger it is the same singer. Fans of Arch Enemy have this meme where they say that Alissa has the voice of an angel... and the voice of a demon.
it gave me the vibes of the sleeping with sirens singer (who sings the sonic frontiers songs) and the singer for this jmetal band called hanabie (who can switch from high pitched anime girl voice to metal scream so seamlessly... she's insane in the best way possible)
Also, i'd like to recommend you to listen to songs from Chapter Symphony of Cytus. The entire Chapter theme is basically "remixed classical music", which i think you'd be interested
Fun fact: Laur (one of the two composers of Grievous Lady) is classically trained, so you will definitely hear a ton of classical references in his discography. For Gothic Hardcore stuff please check Laur, Team Grimoire (the other composer of Grievous Lady), and Sakuzyo out. Personally I find that Japanese rhythm game composers take a lot of classical composition ideas as inspirations and just go wild with them. Very delightful indeed.
Yeah, there's an absolutely massive amount of influence from classical music in rhythm gaming music. Some of that is in the composer's/producers either being classically trained in some capacity or having an appreciation for it, and some of that is in the need to get music made quickly so we get tons of remixes or arrangements of actual classical music too.
japanese rhythm game composers certainly desevere waaaay more light than they get currently, i love them dearly... would be so amazing to see more of it on here
CHAOS MAGNVM and UMBRA MORTIS are great EPs for this type of music from Team Grimoire without going too aggressive. Anything by Laur and Sakuzyo is great though.
Metal Hellsinger is one of if not my favourite rhythm game ever. The way each part of the track comes in with higher score multipliers makes for such a satisfying rhythm game experience. When you get into a groove, hit that 16x mult and the vocals kick in it feels SO GOOD
OH YOU GOT PATAPON JUST RIGHT! The percussion is basically the four controller face buttons (originall the psp in that case) that when done in a certain order, issues a command to the patapon. Yes, you're issuing the command, they don't know you, but believe you. Basically you're their war god in a sense. Oh I miss patapon so bad, good thing we're getting Ratatan soon!
it's terrifying just how accurate Marco got it, you are literally their "Almighty" (quoting the game here) and you lead the tribe of Patapons on a war path to the ends of the earth, they listen to your commands absolutely and unquestioningly, the fact he said "maybe not necessarily trust" got a chuckle out of me cause yeah I would not trust myself either (f*** you last dungeon of patapon 3). Each call is responded to in kind, each percussion, or war drum, has an assigned sound and they repeat it in the song at the start but as the song goes into fever they stop repeating the command and instead starting singing their own little ditties in between, gaining confidence in your orders, getting empowered in the flow of fever. It's kind of interesting how Marco mentioned merging with the power, because that's basicly what happens in patapon 3 with the uberhero in the game's intro.
I love Final Song but, man, it also makes my eye twitch to this day. I like to imagine Yoko Taro can sense whenever anyone dies to that fight and laughs maniacally. I also imagine he senses when someone wins and gets as excited about it as that time SquareEnix made a NieR Automata t-shirt.
I remember struggling with the Drakengard 1 final mission as a kid and how stressful that was, took me a long time to clear that. Not played much of Drakengard 3, just a bit but every time I see that end mission, I can't help but feel the camera being the real difficulty is a little dumb
All the tracks in Deemo II deserves more recognition. Not only does it represent a niche identity and genre in rhythm game, but they are all genuinely amazing. Songs like Graves Ancient Memories by Juggernaut and Secret Place by ARForest highlights the beauty of orchestral, and acoustic instruments as opposed to the general Electronic direction of most rhythm games. Definitely one to explore. Love the vid!!
Background behind rhythm game music is actually very strong and fits VERY good overall. Speaking of Cytus II, DEEMO and Arcaea exactly (because I know these games better than others). All these games have plot, lore, story and etc things and they are straightly connected to the music you play between storytelling sections. They are connected to the story IN SUCH good details that you are literally crying while playing and reminding all tons of text you read before playing that some-minute-pieces-of-perfection. Like... Literally. And I don't get why this music is still known only by rhythm gamers mostly (this community is not that huge actually). I think we should push aside popular music a bit (in a good mean) to give at least a little of World's oxygen to that "beautiful black swans" of music world. Speaking of your explanations while listening. As always, you read the background behind tracks PERFECTLY and you will be much more impressed when experience all of this by yourself. Thanks for promoting such unpopular music into huge media masses, I love your will to explore more and really appreciate it.
Rhythm Thief mentioned! Yes! That was such a fun game with music to boot. My personal favorite was sneaking through the museum and needing to match the same pose with the statues to avoid detection.
@@aayyyooooo It's called II. The artist is called Cytus; this is because the track is made by the entirety of Rayark's Sound Team. It is difficult to say much because Cytus 2's storyline, much like Cytus 1, heavily relies on its track list to enhance narration. Music is part of the games' stories. With story context, II hits absolutely hard and is gut-wrenching. But saying anything about Cytus 2's story would ruin the magic.

Really enjoyed this video Marco. While watching through the Final Song (Drakengard) and Freedom Dive sections though I felt "something is lacking" and realized that I was expecting the "hit" sounds from the game to be present as well. Personally, the play charts / "beatmaps" and sound effects that are associated with tunes like Freedom Dive play a huge part in what makes them memorable too, to the point where they are almost like a layer of instrumentals themselves. The intensity and difficulty the rhythm gamer (and the audience, to some extent,) experiences enhances the connections we form with the music, and I believe rhythm games are one of the most direct ways to "feel" the music. Watching and listening to a top-level rhythm gamer full-combo a difficult song is another different experience altogether from just listening to the track alone. As an example, there are youtube videos of perfect run of The Final Song with the sound effects of the gameplay in. Please give it a try and see if the addition of the gameplay sound effects influences your experience compared to listening just the vanilla version.
Love me some Cytus. II is a great song, but I still have a place in my heart for CHAOS and V, which I think feel better cohesively to me as a listening experience.
Wow ! I'm so glad you made this video !! As a big rhythm game player who played for years this means a lot as there are some of the greatest and unique music I've ever heard in them. I imagine you don't take requests but I can't not give you a list of some iconic songs from rhythm games that would blow your mind : - NIENTE 「neu LONG (音楽)」by wac - SPUTNIK-3 by II-L - Ryoushi no Umi no Lindwurm by Kuroneko Dungeon (one iconic artist for RGs but this is his most well known) - 少年は空を辿る by Power Of Nature - Sequence Start by Sungazer (This one is not made for a specific rhythm game but is from a band that makes music inspired by and free to use for the rhythm game communities) I could give you dozens more but I'll stop there in hopes that you made a sequel and listens to at least one of these songs. Great vid, as always! I don't comment much, but I'm a huge metalhead + like (rythm) games. As soon as i saw Metal Hellsinger i got it without further research. Imagine my reaction when i played the level (Stygia) and on max combo i hear Alissa White-Gluz, vocalist of one of my fav. bands "Arch Enemy" start singing. (you're correct it's the same person singing) What's even more insane is that Serj Tankian former vocalist of "System of a Down" sings the final boss theme xD
Marco enjoying Arcaea music gives me life. What I wouldn’t give for more of this - think you’d like anything by Feryquitous, Team Grimoire, ak+q or Laur.
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned a SINGLE rhythm game song from the Arcades - Chunithm, ongeki, maimai, Jubeat, Dance Dance Revolution, pump it up, Groove coaster.
Fun fact about "Freedom dive": Along side songs like "BBKKBKK (nora2r)", "Conflict (siromaru + cranky and pico) ", "Energy Synergy Matrix (Tanchiky)", "Pupa (morimori atsushi)", and "Dopplganger (LeaF)", Freedom dive is one of the most recognizable songs from the "BMS of Fighters" rhythm game contests. So many songs from the BMS of Fighters have been inducted into rhythm games and have even shaped the scene itself.
I highly recommend you check out Frey’s Philosophy from the game Lanota. It’s an awesome piano-focused song that screams “this is an epic showdown” without being too overwhelming or noisy. It’s the first “boss song” in that game
Also you’re definitely going to see people recommending songs by the artist Camellia. He is one of my favorite rhythm game music artists but a lot of his songs are notorious for being really difficult in games and can definitely be overwhelming out of context. I recommend you check out one of his less chaotic songs “Looking for Edge of Ground”. It’s a gorgeous track blending several different genres and features Hatsune Miku for the vocals
regarding grevious lady, it's normally only 2:30 like most rhythm game songs, so you don't hear it repeat as often also you should check out more of arcaeas terminal songs (just look at the wiki if you need the understanding) or stuff from segas rhythm games or konamis, there's a lot more artcore all over rhythm games
The first Drakengard had a simmilar thing for one of the endings, and in a TTRPG campaign I played with friends our dungeon master used the song for a specific very powerful enemy, so it gave PTSD to our party XD
there are many deep songs in Yakuza series, notable "As long as you are happy" and "pure love in Kamurucho" heck, outside of context "24 Hours Cinderella" is a silly song, but when put in the context the story of Yakuza 0 and a certain couple is around each other only a day or two and fell in love, the lyrics paint a different story
Considering my primary exposure to Rhythm Games was DDR and Pump It Up! in the late 90's/early 00's, I hadn't heard most of what you showcased here, exception being Drakengard 3. Quite a fun ride hearing these for the first time.
I'm surprised no one brought up Tempestissimo from Arcaea, also the artist called xi and LeaF are straight classic for rhythm games. God there's so many music track I discovered from rhythm games that grew to be one of my favorite pieces of music in general. Like Aegleseeker and Catalinesie.
I'd love to see you go through all of Metal Hellsinger's tracks one day, but particularly Burial At Night, it's also one vocalist going between harsh and clean vocals like Stygia, but Tatiana has a very different flair to it than Alissa does. I'm definitely curious who the other female vocalist you heard doing harsh vocals was, was it also in a game's music or just in passing? Also the game is a blast to play, so much fun
My favorite track from Metal: Hellsinger still has to be the final boss fight, "No Tomorrow" (not just because they got Serj to go back to his roots for that song). It is just such a powerful song and amazingly sung by Serj as a perfect finale song for the game.
Oh man, that Deemo II soundtrack was purely amazing. There were moments where it also reminded me of Joe Hisaishi’s compositions, especially towards the end. The whole track was so mind blowing in every way possible from a musicians perspective.
Yeah it was beautiful, I was about to click off the video, then that part appeared and I was blown away 🤯. I'm so glad I didn't stop the video because thanks to that i discovered this game and I want to hear more of it now. The piece from this vid sounded so much like it came from a piano concerto from the romantic era.
the patapon ost one... it as so much personality, though it was missing the FERVEEEEEEEEEEEEEER when huge music shift that goes withit really pushing forward the feeling that you have entered hyper mode
Im so glad you enjoyed grievous lady so much, the song is one of my favorites from the game, then again all of arcaea's songs are INSANE. Another arcaea song you can check out is alter ego by yuta imai.
Just a couple months ago I was listening to grievous lady and I was thinking "I want to see marco react to this", and today that thought came to life. I always thought that Rythm Games Music is unsuprisingly good because obviously It's not a rythm game without music and It has to be good to success, but I DID NOT expect it to be this good, I only played one rythm game called "Deemo" and I absolutely loved that game, both the story and the music (even though I totally suck with the rythm thing itself lol). I can't say that I'm a rythm games person but I still like to learn more about it, and this video did not fail me with that. If you're gonna do more videos like this then i'll recommend you to try listening anything from deemo 1 because all of them are great, personally I think you will like the Magnolia Song Series. Hope we can achieve greater things this year🤝. btw, The Music of Life - Nourish - is from Deemo 2 which Is a sequel to the first one and I didn't play it so it's interesting seeing It here too.
Highly recommending Hi-Fi Rush if you haven't played it; and play it in streamer mode if you want original pieces inspired by the songs used for the non-streaming soundtrack!
Ix, ice, tpaz, sakuzyo, camellia, silentroom. Id say i had listen to them all my life. I recommend u listen to nhelv (the rainbow frontier ver)by silentroom. It feels almost like freedom dive
gmtn (gumtune) makes a lot of gothic hardcore, so if you want to you can go check out a few other of their songs. i recommend trappola bewitching which is also a song from arcaea
42:20 I would *love* more "if this is your jam, check out..." I played violin in student orchestras through undergrad and we covered a lot of the repertoire, which I guess makes me more familiar with the classical canon than a lot of your audience, but there's *tons* of stuff I don't know, especially music that features other instruments (like piano or woodwind or brass concerti, or most choral or operatic music, or...).
Really hope you'll listen to something from Rhythm Heaven next! My personal recommendation: "WISH Can't Wait for you" from the Japan only first entry "Rhythm Tengoku".
Hey, Slight correction! Freedom Dive is from the album Parousia by the musician xi, and its first game appearance was... I think sound voltex? But the game shown off is Osu!
I would absolutely love to see your reaction to the story cutscenes from the original deemo. (not the re-releases or remasters/sequels though they are good) Deemo is a rhythm game but it has a story that plays between those that is absolutely worth seeing. There's no dialogue, but the music is what sets the tone and fully takes the place of any voices that would otherwise be present.
I love that you chose to use the video with the note timings on screen for Drakengard 3. When that was new, I pulled an all nighter doing the regular content, then grinded ingame money to unlock access to that ending for like 5 hours and tried that fight for two hours. After getting fed up losing to the last notes at the convo in the black screen, I also went for that cheese strategy. Still one of my favourite final fights in any game, but I will never do it again.
Crypt of the Necrodancer is my go to rhythm game. My personal pick for best song has to go to Fungal Funk. A new game is getting put together called Rift of the Necrodancer. I think its in beta, but some of the songs are out there. What I think is the best is Glass Cages by Josie Brechner and Sarah Hubbard.
Oh, I really need to re-listen to that ost! I really can't think of one song I would recommend over the others because it has so many bangers with so many different genres of music to choose from, you'd be hard-pressed to not find at least one song you can vibe with. Some favorites of mine are Rhythmortis, Crypteque, Mausoleum Mash, Metalmancy, Dance of the Decorous/March of the Profane, The Wight to Remain, Deep Sea Bass, For Whom the Knell Tolls, and Momentum Mori/Last Dance.
As expected, Laur was gonna be in this video if rhythm games were mentioned. Laur's music has such a strong weight to it, the classical aspect brings in this sort of tension and the EDM aspect brings in the intensity. It is such a good combination. If you've taken a liking to his style, give Hardcore Tano*c a listen. It's a group of Japanese artists that Laur is a part of that makes (and sometimes charts) music for rhythm games. There's a good variety of music in there and if you're really interested in more "experimental" electronic music, I highly recommend them.
Love how we both had that "OH IT'S THAT SONG FROM IRONPINEAPPLE'S VIDS" Really need to get some of these rhythm style games and pay more attention to mobile phone games honestly, I do know that Deemo was brought to Steam recently though
if you're looking for amazing rhythm game songs, can't go past Beatmania IIDX (there's about 40 versions now?) Zektbach has an amazing anthology of songs in the game, as do DJ Taka, TaQ, Ryu*, Kors K. Check 'em out!!
Fun note of Drakengard 3, you have no control over the camera, so it moves entirely on its own...even when your character disappears off screen. Which is why the note guy is so helpful. And the final note HAS to be hit after the ending cutscene starts and everything is black, or you die and have to restart from the VERY BEGINNING of the song.
Cytus was a childhood classic for me. Beautiful game and then came out a sequel that just encompasses so much about the current day. "Music is the memory of humanity."
For context on the Metal Hellsinger song. They are purposely chorus heavy because you only hear the instrumental version until you hit max combo, then the vocals kick in and it really elevates the experience. All the songs also follow the same cadence so you can audibly follow along since the game rewards you for shooting on beat with extra damage.
The entire soundtrack if cadence is an absolute delight. 100% recommend taking a listen at ALL of the tracks. Especially Kakariko Crypt :3 That ones is.... Special
The thing that always gets me with the Patapon music when you're actually playing is as your combo gets bigger/lasts longer the patapons work themselves up into a fervor and start singing along on top of responding to the calls. So it's a great feedback loop of playing the game well means it's more fun to listen to the game, because of that "cosmic connection" you described in your analysis. Which is sort of how rhythm games have always worked but with Patapon it feels like the game is participating too instead of all the onus being on the player to make sure the music sounds good.
Please check out more rhythm game music! I used to play beatmania/IIDX and some of the tracks are worth checking out (The Tatsh and Zektbach songs comes to mind first)
I always keep hearing such amazing things about Deemo, but this might have finally sold me, at least on the soundtrack. GORGEOUS stuff! Even though there wasn't any Everhood on the table today, the mention still made me happy. Really fun ost! Another rhythm game I hope gets more attention one day is Mad Rat Dead. Electroswing is such a good genre for rhythm games, and Camellia even did a multiple songs for it! (My personal pick being Yellow Invitation). Can only hope you dive into rhythm game stuff more so I can get some recommendations, heheh
You should REALLY check XI's songs, he is in a lot of these rythm games and every single song is absolutely insane and Im sure you are gonna love them to death lol I can type you a few that I recommend you check here if you want

Funfact about Cadance of Hyrule: The electric guitar in its music is played by a popular youtube metal game OST arranger Family Jules!
Hell yeah it was, jules killed it on the ost
Oh I never knew that
Marco enjoying Arcaea music gives me life.
@@jugemujugemugokonosurikire4735 keep an eye out for his community posts and streams: these are highlights from those!
WACCA, SDVX, Taiko no Tatsujin :(((
Marco recognizing the rhythm thief theme as a song a youtuber uses was cool, shoutout to Iron Pineapple and his Steam dumpster diving
@@jryan913or Observatory by him as well.
regarding grevious lady, it's normally only 2:30 like most rhythm game songs, so you don't hear it repeat as often
also you should check out more of arcaeas terminal songs (just look at the wiki if you need the understanding) or stuff from segas rhythm games or konamis, there's a lot more artcore all over rhythm games
you would really want to check out sakuzyo
@@goizord I would personally love to hear his opinion of onoken’s felys, as it’s practically the seed of the entire genre
The first Drakengard had a simmilar thing for one of the endings, and in a TTRPG campaign I played with friends our dungeon master used the song for a specific very powerful enemy, so it gave PTSD to our party XD
there are many deep songs in Yakuza series, notable "As long as you are happy" and "pure love in Kamurucho"
heck, outside of context "24 Hours Cinderella" is a silly song, but when put in the context the story of Yakuza 0 and a certain couple is around each other only a day or two and fell in love, the lyrics paint a different story
Surprised you didn’t mention “Today is a Diamond” from 6.
@@thesalsaguy4395 I don't want to spoil too much

OMG Patapon! I waited for this day for so long! I really hope to see more in the future!
Considering my primary exposure to Rhythm Games was DDR and Pump It Up! in the late 90's/early 00's, I hadn't heard most of what you showcased here, exception being Drakengard 3. Quite a fun ride hearing these for the first time.
These are mostly Mobile and Console Rhythm Games.
I love Metal Hellsinger, one of my favorite games. All of the songs are so good, its criminal the game isn't more popular
Agreed. aside for the dlc with random songs, the entirety of this game ost is a banger.
We now need a Crypt of the Necrodancer Marco Shopkeeper DLC
You gotta react to the rest of Metal Hellsinger tracks, especially the song called No Tomorrow .
I recommend Patapon 3 - Soundtrack 04 - Uberhero March from the original Patapon Sountrack channel, it's a really good bop
Oh man, that Deemo II soundtrack was purely amazing. There were moments where it also reminded me of Joe Hisaishi’s compositions, especially towards the end. The whole track was so mind blowing in every way possible from a musicians perspective.
Can I also get the video link to it? I can’t seem to find it, sorry.
You were about to WHAT?
@@MarcoMeatball Sorry 💀. It was 1:00 am and had to go to bed lol
the patapon ost one... it as so much personality, though it was missing the FERVEEEEEEEEEEEEEER when huge music shift that goes withit really pushing forward the feeling that you have entered hyper mode
Im so glad you enjoyed grievous lady so much, the song is one of my favorites from the game, then again all of arcaea's songs are INSANE.
Another arcaea song you can check out is alter ego by yuta imai.
Yes, the singer of the Metal Hellsinger song "Stygia" is Alissa from Arch Enemy, and she has that wonderful growl.
Hellsinger has a song with Serj Tankian too, it's fantastic
Rayark is the all-time GOAT of mobile rhythm games tbh
I think it's finally time for me to get back to Cytus 2 and buy the expansions and stuff XD I remember loving the game so much
The number of metal sub-genres is only rivaled by the number of electronic sub-genres.
yup lol. by far the 2 most diverse genres, in terms of subgenres
ARCAEA!!!! Theres so many different songs, and oh god, a testify reaction...😂
I love rhythm thiefs songs
Highly recommending Hi-Fi Rush if you haven't played it; and play it in streamer mode if you want original pieces inspired by the songs used for the non-streaming soundtrack!
Ix, ice, tpaz, sakuzyo, camellia, silentroom. Id say i had listen to them all my life. I recommend u listen to nhelv (the rainbow frontier ver)by silentroom. It feels almost like freedom dive
Anything from the IIDX franchise by Konami is pretty goated
gmtn (gumtune) makes a lot of gothic hardcore, so if you want to you can go check out a few other of their songs.
i recommend trappola bewitching which is also a song from arcaea
42:20 I would *love* more "if this is your jam, check out..."
I played violin in student orchestras through undergrad and we covered a lot of the repertoire, which I guess makes me more familiar with the classical canon than a lot of your audience, but there's *tons* of stuff I don't know, especially music that features other instruments (like piano or woodwind or brass concerti, or most choral or operatic music, or...).
The best Song in my opinion from Metal Hellsinger is Dissolution.
FINALLY SOME CYTUS RECOGNITION RAHHHHHHHHHH
I love how the shopkeeper in Necrodancer sings the song when you go in the shop. It made me smile every time.
Rhythm Thief is one of my favourite 3DS games. First rhythm game i really enjoyed.
Man, I would love to see more gothic hardcore reactions. Such an underrated genre and artists.
Freedom Dive first appeared as a BMS song
As for commercial rhythm games, iirc the first appearance was Cytus
mirumizure Thanks!
Dammit Marco, now I have to play drakengard 3 that song did something to my heart and I want to experience it in context now as well
I would absolutely love to see your reaction to the story cutscenes from the original deemo. (not the re-releases or remasters/sequels though they are good)
Deemo is a rhythm game but it has a story that plays between those that is absolutely worth seeing.
What, no Space Channel 5?
I'm so obsessed with this game, my fav pieces of the ost would be the ones that play in 1-3 and 4-2
Great opportunity to revisit this category with a focus on the bemani games (e.g. beatmania iidx + pop'n music)
Love how we both had that "OH IT'S THAT SONG FROM IRONPINEAPPLE'S VIDS"
Really need to get some of these rhythm style games and pay more attention to mobile phone games honestly, I do know that Deemo was brought to Steam recently though
DJMAX and Lanota need some love
Oh fudge please. Yes pleaaaase T.T
if you're looking for amazing rhythm game songs, can't go past Beatmania IIDX (there's about 40 versions now?)
Zektbach has an amazing anthology of songs in the game, as do DJ Taka, TaQ, Ryu*, Kors K. Check 'em out!!
Truly the best ever
Oh hey, I was the person who originally suggested you listen to II from Cytus II on one of your streams! So happy to see that you revisited it!
Fun note of Drakengard 3, you have no control over the camera, so it moves entirely on its own...even when your character disappears off screen. Which is why the note guy is so helpful. And the final note HAS to be hit after the ending cutscene starts and everything is black, or you die and have to restart from the VERY BEGINNING of the song.
oh my god i watched the vod for this yesterday!! what greatt timing
FREEDOM DiVE↓ is iconic, it's still giving me PTSD whenever it's showing up in every new rhythm games I'm playing 💀
Cytus was a childhood classic for me. Beautiful game and then came out a sequel that just encompasses so much about the current day. "Music is the memory of humanity."
I love your choice of unconventional "rhythm game" songs. Both Black Song White Scales and Baka Mitai are incredible pieces of music
Special
Metal Hellsinger OST review waiting room
22:34 those are the localized lyrics not the translated lyrics. those lyrics are the version of the song they sing for the english dub.
Cytus II is just so great
there's just nothing that tops it in my heart, and i still don't know why
The thing that always gets me with the Patapon music when you're actually playing is as your combo gets bigger/lasts longer the patapons work themselves up into a fervor and start singing along on top of responding to the calls. So it's a great feedback loop of playing the game well means it's more fun to listen to the game, because of that "cosmic connection" you described in your analysis. Which is sort of how rhythm games have always worked but with Patapon it feels like the game is participating too instead of all the onus being on the player to make sure the music sounds good.
Please check out more rhythm game music! I used to play beatmania/IIDX and some of the tracks are worth checking out (The Tatsh and Zektbach songs comes to mind first)
Konami rhythm games forever goated. Pop'n Music my beloved
CYTUS FUCK YEAH I LOVE THIS GAME. A rhythm game with an actually compelling story that pulled me in more than a lot of AAA games
TEAM GRIMOIRE SPOTTED GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I always keep hearing such amazing things about Deemo, but this might have finally sold me, at least on the soundtrack. GORGEOUS stuff!
Even though there wasn't any Everhood on the table today, the mention still made me happy. Really fun ost! Another rhythm game I hope gets more attention one day is Mad Rat Dead. Electroswing is such a good genre for rhythm games, and Camellia even did a multiple songs for it! (My personal pick being Yellow Invitation). Can only hope you dive into rhythm game stuff more so I can get some recommendations, heheh
the drakengaurd song always gives me shivers when it starts
You should REALLY check XI's songs, he is in a lot of these rythm games and every single song is absolutely insane and Im sure you are gonna love them to death lol
I can type you a few that I recommend you check here if you want
II is still my favourite boss battle theme. That 'Ivy' still breaks me
As soon as I saw Grevious Lady on here, I knew you were gonna go nuts. 🤣
No tomorrow from metal hellsinger is an absolute treat from start to finish. An insane track to end a metal rhythm game
